the only reason i didn't give it a 10 is because there were no crazy plot twists at the end and it was somewhat predictable.

It is an origin movie, so one cant really expect a lot to happen. It has a lame ass "doctor" bad guy with boring superpowers (pain resistance/very strong) with a side kick bad gal (also very strong) The two X-Men characters are pretty useless and have no reason to be in this movie. As for the breaking the 4th wall, we have seen it in movies so many times (recently in Wolf of WS and The Big Short) its like talking to audience is normal thing now.
I watched the trailer and was so hyped. Well, if you watched the trailer, you have watched it all since the funniest and only interesting action sequence happens in the trailers.

People are simply praising and hyping this movie becuz of the back story behind it, like how Ryan Reynolds fought for this movie to be made blah blah...Add to that "its the first superhero movie for Mature audience" so extra fan support there (apparently those retards forgot about Punisher and Blade).
People are supporting and praising this movie just because they want to get rid of the kid-friendly superhero movie" trend, and this movie getting 10/10 scores from users (wtf seriously) is not becuz of the movie's own merit.

I didn't know much about the character of Deadpool before the film. I have now seen it twice, so thought I could review it fairly.

First of all, the 15(uk) certificate is totally justified. Without it, this film would not work. Without it, boundaries would not be crossed, blood would not be shed, violence would not happen.

From the off the story is told from a first person view, often breaking the fourth wall. None of the "2 months earlier..." text or anything like that, the story flows, with the action slowing down and breaking into a flashback, which is such a good (and original) way of doing an origin story.

The story does a good job of introducing us to the main characters, and secondary characters are also given more than the one line. However, the bad guy is a little bit one dimensional, with no idea of why he is the bad guy.

Personally, I loved this film - it was a welcome change from the usual Marvel origin story thanks to the rating, the character of Deadpool is now one of my favourites.

Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast as Deadpool, and his dedication to getting the character right forms a true portrayal of a character that is very hard to get right, as we learned 7 years ago. Deadpool is hilarious, bitingly smart, and paced like the foul mouthed energizer bunny from hell. In an interview Reynolds said this film has been in production for 11 years, it would seem that the long wait helped the film, because by the time they finally made it, everybody involved wanted to get it right.

Deadpool is genuinely hilarious film, by that I mean there are multiple times where everybody in the theater laugh hysterically. The film is even funnier for those that love, and know all about comic book films, because it makes snide comments about the studio and the genre all throughout. Fans of the character will appreciate the fact that Deadpool doesn’t pull any punches, it’s hilarious from the opening credits to the post credits scene. On top of that Reynolds comedic chops are perfectly complemented by the foul mouthed anti-hero.

It shouldn’t come as any kind of a surprise that Deadpool is a metafilm, as the character’s trademarks are breaking the fourth wall, and poking fun at other comic book characters. The film manages to avoid being cliched, because of it’s metafilm approach and while not dodging all cliches it winks when it uses one. For those that have seen or genuinely obsess over comic book films, the film is littered with snide pokes at the genre, and a warning for those interested these pokes come early and often. The film is witty to a fault, and honors the character perfectly.

From the hilarious opening of the film to the post credits scene the pacing of the film is frenetic. The film begins with a bang, and brilliantly tells it’s story in a non-linear format that keeps the film from ever feeling slow. It would have been nice if the low budget hadn’t been so noticeable, despite the fact that it gives Deadpool plenty of fodder. One thing that seemed poorly done was the Colossus character, because he’s featured in the other X-Men films as a completely different character in look and personality.
In the end lovers of the deadpool character will love the film, because it’s faithful to everything the character embodies. The film is smart, funny, well-paced, and builds off Reynolds performance to make a genuinely entertaining film. The film has a few small flaws that are few and far between, but overall succeeds in respectfully bringing “The Merc with a Mouth” to the big screen. Note that this film is very mature, but when looking for a great film for an adult’s night out this film is perfect.

Yes they made me laugh and yes Ryan Reynolds was amazing in this role, almost made me think it was his redemption for "The Green Lantern" which I really didn't think was all that bad of a Marvel movie. Again though all that being said once again this is not movie for your kids or even pre-teens to see! Way to much for them to see that they shouldn't see-was amazed at some ppl taking younger kids!!! That being said if your an adult and love marvel and nasty lewd humor that makes you laugh out loud then this is the movie for you, cause it gets down to the core. I can say that this movie never hit a low it took off running, and never even slowed to a fast walking pace, it was full throttle all the way through with non-stop humor and action. I only gave it an 8 because I thought it went a little over the top with the language and hard core stuff, again I am not a prude, but Marvel had to know that some kids were going to see this. Expand

The good news is; the 'Deadpool' movie does live up to the hype that the viral marketing campaign promised. The only bad news is; a lot of the jokes that were seen in the trailers are used in the movie, and they were expected.

But other than that, this movie is fun, almost 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' (2015) fun. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka "The Merc with a Mouth", aka "Deadpool" who is seeking revenge on a scientist named Ajax (Ed Skrein) who experimented on Wilson and deformed his appearance.

The movie is mainly structured in non-linear narrative where at the beginning, Wade is already Deadpool, and he tells us the story (yes, he breaks the fourth wall), about how he got to where he is now. The story mainly revolves around Wade and his relationship with a girl named Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), he then finds out that he has cancer, and a recruiter (Jed Rees) entices Wade as he promises to cure his cancer, while also giving him superhero-like abilities.

The experiment proves to be excruciating, but Wade makes it out alive, disfigured and angry, he is out on a revenge plan to kill the people who did this to him.

The movie delivers its promise to be crude, vulgar, bloody...and everything that an R-Rated superhero film should be. It also delivers on its comedy, Reynolds is surprisingly charming and charismatic in the title role.

One thing you should know about this movie is that it isn't a summer popcorn blockbuster flick like 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (2015), it is a movie that is filled with superbly choreographed fight scenes, the best one involving Wade and Ajax fighting in a burning building.

The romance in this movie is well done, and shows us the more human side of Deadpool, but I do feel as if it boggs the movie down sometimes, but never fails to be entertaining.

One thing you will expect is that this movie is cocky, arrogant and full of itself...but that's what fans of the Merc comics character will be expecting and wanting, whether or not this movie brings you everything you desire will depend on how big your expectations are.

NOTE: >Stay< for the post-credits scene, do not get up and walk out while the credits are rolling, this may not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this post-credits scene is worth the wait considering what was seen throughout the entire movie.

Good, fun escapism movie...8/10...delivers on its promise, but not outstanding...

It is either going to be highly entertaining and one of the more memorable movies of the year or it is going to turn into an unfunny mess that just misses the mark. It pleases me to say Deadpool is certainly not the latter. The jokes are frequent and funny, the plot line is well written and of course the fourth wall is broken in such a way that only Deadpool can. This is the real deal for the Merc with a Mouth, one of the must see films of 2016. Expand

"Deadpool" has a pretty big mouth and a very corrupted mind.

This is viscerally great, bloody comedy rated R has refreshed the genre of superheroes, surpassing to its most strong competitor Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy".

Initial credits say the absolute truth, star Ryan Reynolds is listed as “God’s perfect idiot”; first-time feature director Tim Miller is described as “an overpaid tool.” The writers are referred to as “the real heroes here.

Evidently, adventure is full of blood and jokes and obscene topics, not wasting any second to perform one of those jokes. Wade generates an experience more intimate with the audience breaking the fourth wall hundreds of times. It was great!. Certainly this film carries the label of "The First Film R Marvel" with honor, sweat, love, passion and many swear words.

Rhett and Paul Wernick Rheese (real heroes) are the guilty of creating a script full of humorous moments that generate irresistible laughter led for the fabulous sarcasm by Ryan Reynolds.

If you liked the formula implemented in "G. G.", "Deadpool" you give a pleasant surprise to improve the formula imminently with sarcasm, indirect and direct messages for himself, other superheroes, and even to the own production company.

Project hosts two mainly innovative elements chosen by its writers in delicate and precise way, the first was how the same anti - hero put his origins and the second was the constant breakdown of film's four walls. But these were only the bases to solidify the film.

Based on the 1991 comic by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, "Dead Pool" tells the story of Wade Wilson, a bad man who receives a bad health diagnostics, this leads him to take apparently wrong decisions, making him literally a monster but giving him a superhuman abilities and unimaginable ability to cure ( All dinosaurs feared the T - Rex" - Wade Wilson).

The film uses various and consistent moments not fundamental to the advancement of the plot but necessary to maintain the close relationship Wade - audience, which include two participants of the "X-MEN" or to an elderly blind who want to assemble her shelf.

Several years ago, the comic writers looked the small and complicated in the "X-MEN Origins" (2009) shameful Ryan Reynolds participation, they told him immediately that if at some point in their lives they would have the opportunity to make an own anti - hero film, the main role was immediately for the boy. Good choice writers. His enthusiasm sarcastic is what makes Deadpool "Deadpool", He exudes all the features of the character, even achieving to see his pansexuality and light homoerotic. This guy is eloquent, funny, professional, he's be perfect to play the anti-hero more unconventional of the universe.

Director Tim Miller and the rest of the team are the magnificent companions to decorate the work of the main actor, I admire the work done by Miller to lead such a project of enormous magnitude, it is one of the directors of the moment and it will continue to be for a while more.

There is something that does not make very happy to the public, the film is all innovation and new things but plot central romantic tends to break for time-periods development fluid film, can choose a subject a little less cliche. Love story for Valentine's day? strategy? more profits?. It is an action choreography , interspersed with a fresh narrative and adding the best reviews of the mercenary. It's a Marvel's masterpiece.

At one point, the film can become an action film, in a horror movie, in a film drama, in a romantic film, in a thriller film, is truly multifaceted, having the majestic power of overcoming its premise in the cinema is essential.

Sadly, we can not say that "Deadpool" will be Marvel film last for older, but if you can say that 'Merc with a mouth' has done excellent and textual words of super is will turn into a fu---ng franchise. A film that parade perfectly between the thin and dangerous line of comedy , superheroes and fantastic bad language , defends and gives a fresh air to the superhero genre so congested.

Directed by Tim Miller. from the starting credits till the films ending when Deadpool comes written in red, to say honestly, i am satisfied. What makes Deadpool so irressistible despite it not having one of the best storylines, though not even completely trashable is its unconventional style of storytelling which is a smart move by the makers. But this is not the only thing which makes Deadpool different from other super-hero movies. Froth language, comically stylish and fun narrative, cool action sequences, slow motion sequences, spot-on badass dialogues and pitch perfect editing are some more things which make Deadpool different and a little unique as well. Where Deadpool suffers is its script. Deadpools script has loopholes though every superhero movie has but in Deadpool, they are well noticeable. Ed Skrein, who plays Ajax (antagonist) gets a dull, lifeless written role despite he puts on a top-notch show. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool gets it very very, very right as Deadpool and Wade Wilson and is a lot of fun throughout his act. Through this film, we can feel that with how much fun was Deadpool's character was written though its the only well written role in the film. Morena Baccarin as Vanessa (Wade's girlfriend) provides less and she can't do anything about it as her character lacks what was needed. Stefan Kapičić as Colossus feels completely irrelevant and more funny than being a force. Rest of the supporting cast too other than Karan Soni as the Indian taxi driver named Dupinder who is fantastically a laugh riot are forgettable. Though not as memorable, densely plotted as Spiderman and Batman, Deadpool is more fun and wittier. Movie buffs won't complain. A refreshing watch Deadpool is, you won't complain. Btw, the background score of the film lifts the scenes up making them more fun. Deadpool is a rare film where comedy, action, thrills and super-heroism are all very much palpable. I am going with 3.5/5 for Deadpool. Not the greatest, but certainly smart, kickass and badass, certainly. Deadpool is pretty much Deadcool Expand

The action scenes were incredibly well done, and had me reeling back in excitement in each one. The only reason Deadpool doesn't score a perfect 10, is because of a very rare one-liner that evoked absolutely no reaction from the audience, near the beginning of the movie. Or you're a jackass who gives a pass to something you fool yourself into thinking is with it. The veneer of a wannabe fresh form and tone does not do the job. The world is bored of superheroes. The world is bored of anything that is 'good'.

Movies are reflection of society and society also gets feedback from a movie. No matter how 'funny' it seems to some of those post-puberty-adolescent audience, this kind of fun will haunt you down in one or the other menifestation of real problems. Fairytales and comedy are the prime source of molding young minds. Average audience associate them with the main character in a movie, and what are they associating in this movie? Shallow, disgusting, perverted joker? What he does in the form of fun is several degrees of crime in real life. Now, one can argue, that is true for many movies of many other genre. But when I see young people comiting crime by saying 'maximum effort' , what does it suggest? It is real easy to be a character like him. No hard work necessery. That is the key point here. People like to gain everything by doing nothing. The fact that this kind of movie is so popular will have direct consequences specially in society and politics. Hope for the best.

Well, it appears as though we can gladly tack Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool up on that list too, because this performance - and film, overall - is quite spectacular. Aside from being breathlessly comical and a commendable directorial debut from Tim Miller, "Deadpool" shows us that there is still some fresh juice to be squeezed from that comic book movie fruit. It's also one of the more entertaining superhero films in a while and probably one of the very best X-films (not that that is saying a whole lot). The structure is a little wonky and Deadpool's schtick gets dangerously close to wearing out its welcome by the end of the film, but overall the film is a blast. Ryan Reynolds is perfect as Deadpool, the jokes are plentiful if not always successful and the filmmakers seem to really get what makes this character work. It also benefits from coming along at just the right time - all of the recent talk of 'superhero fatigue' sets up this film perfectly as a breath of fresh air while also allowing all of the fourth-wall breaking meta commentary on the genre that peppers the film to be accessible to the general public. Again, it's not perfect, but the audience I saw it with actually clapped when it was over. Deadpool is a great irreverent nasty little B-movie in the vein of Punisher: War Zone (take that as you will). Good times. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, I went into this movie thinking: it'll suck or it'll be OK. Boy I was wrong.

The opening credits were hilarious and unexpected, very clever way to start this type of movie. The first sequence was, for most of it, in the trailers and as I said my expectations weren't that good for the trailers I saw, I didn't laugh at most of the jokes. But as the movie went on, I couldn't believe how interested in the story I was, and how much I was laughing my ass off in every scene. This movie is what it purely needed to be: a damn fun ride!

My favorite jokes were definitely the references to all sorts of things, I remember most of the jokes that I could quote them almost to perfection. This movie really surprised me, and definitely in a good way.

I fully recommend this movie and even if it has some slow parts (the origin story my take sometime) it's definitely worth watching. It's only flawless in what it tries to be: a damn fun ride!
I'm glad Deadpool it's not with the MCU because if it was, we would not get the R rating wich is what makes this movie and it wouldn't be as good as it is.

Treat Deadpool for what it is and nothing more.

I guess if Ant-Man and of all people can get his own movie (and a
pretty good one at that), then Deadpool can finally get his own movie.
Luckily, Fox bounced back from its monumental flop Fantastic Four last
August with the pretty decent R-rated comic book flick Deadpool. In
Deadpool, Wade Wilson is a mercenary in New York City when he meets a
woman named Vanessa at a local bar. They hook up, and a year later,
Wade pops the question with a ring pop which she accepts. Wade then
collapses and is later diagnosed with terminal cancer. One night at the
bar, he meets a recruiter from a secret program who offers an
experimental treatment for his cancer. Wade declines and leaves, but he
later reconsiders the offer and leaves Vanessa in the middle of the
night to receive the treatment. The procedure involves getting tortured
for weeks on end until a mutation occurs, and Wade is severely
disfigured in the process, although his cancer is cured, and he's
practically immortal. Wade escapes the facility that looks exactly like
the torture chamber in Hostel and vows revenge on the person who did
this to him. Oh, and somehow he's aware that he's in a movie. For all
its intents and purposes, Deadpool is a very fun and sometimes funny
movie, although not all the jokes hit, and it gets a little exhausting
towards the end. The ridiculous, over-the-top violence also makes the
movie unnaturally entertaining for a comic book flick. Hopefully more
R- rated superhero movies are made in the future. Deadpool's ability to
break the fourth wall also makes the film more interesting, but it
causes the plot to suffer somewhat. A lot of the backstory is told by
Deadpool in flashbacks, causing the film to jump around in time a lot.
Deadpool may not be the crowning achievement of comic book movies, but
it's entertaining enough to watch in the theater. I'm sure it'll be the
perfect movie for 12 year old boys' slumber parties after their parents
have gone to sleep.

It is intended for adults, please dont take your kids to this... It happens far too often and it has caused too much controversy because people think all superhero films should be "family friendly"

Deadpool is an anti-hero, not a superhero. He is not mentally stable, nor is he sane. This movie has a ton of adult content that is not even close to considered acceptable for childrens eyes. A family brought 10 children to the theater I went to, day after opening day... My friends and I were wondering what kind of parent thought it was a good idea to bring them?

If you dont know who deadpool is, or if you don't like deadpool, this movie will come across as average.

Nevertheless, it is not a very entertaining or enjoyable comic book. Ryan Reynolds plays Wade Wilson, an ex-military sniper who enjoyed shooting down the enemy and brags about his score card. In civilian life, he is a bit of a dud, until he finds his true love, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), in a bar populated by gun-toting lowlifes. Vanessa is a former prostitute, and like Wade, she had a traumatic childhood. True love for these two means living in a dark apartment in a dark universe, where romance is focused on insatiable sexual needs—the only genuinely romantic part is that they are actually faithful to each other.

The movie had potential to create an artistic universe where good is in its eternal struggle with evil, where the villains are a monstrous threat to humanity, and where the heroes are both strong and vulnerable, vicious and tender-hearted at the same time—such is the stuff that action-hero comic books are made of. All of these elements are present; yet, Deadpool is a bit of a cesspool—the script is a running monologue of relentless banter for Reynolds’ character, and only occasionally are the jokes humorous enough to make you smile. Profane language is persistent, and vulgarity is proudly displayed like a fashion statement. The violence is the main feature of the film, and the violence is of a somewhat perverse quality that drowns out the attempt at humor. Nobody laughs at this movie.

There is presently a cultural phenomenon known as the “hipster,” which seems to be invading Hollywood films. Hipsters are an under-40 crowd of petty intellectuals, who are crassly superficial, wildly materialistic, and surprisingly hostile. Their motor-mouth banter is the branding of their style, and Hollywood scripts are starting to reflect this vapid culture. Deadpool wearies the viewer with its verbal tedium, in spite of the fact that Reynolds’ performance is a tour de force, Baccarin is in fine form, and the two characters who are vintage Marvel heroes, Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand, do a great job. Unfortunately, Marvel Comics never intended for superheroes to act like hipsters. But there’s hope for the future—the hipsters are approaching their 40’s, and by strict definition, they will be too old to keep witlessly joking their way through life.

While the story is extremely run of the mill, and about the only thing the movie doesn't make fun of, the content is absolutely amazing and there are so many call backs to the good and bad things (HINT: Wolverine's version of Deadpool 10 years ago). This movie just loves making fun of itself and it's certainly at its best when it does. It's not meant to be taken seriously in any means and the jokes are very crude sometimes. There's also alot of blood and gore for a Marvel movie so young kids should stay away from it. But there's nothing better than Deadpool right now and Marvel is riding the hot hand by already greenlighting Deadpool 2. If it's as good as the first one, they've got a hit on their hands. Expand

So this guy in the red suit came and broke some records...

I was not a Deadpool fan and I'm still not, but like any superhero films I'd pleasure watching it. The other reason was, we had other superheroes in our time, so this guy is kind of new to me. It was a stunning launch to the big screen for the Deadpool as well as for this new director. This film was merely an introduction tale than a fully stretched story. Like how a human becomes a mutant and later who seeks a revenge for ruining his natural life. But it yet to explain a couple of things and I hope it all will be revealed in its sequel.

I am happy for Ryan Reynolds to get another chance, because his previous comic book character did not received well. I certainly liked the film, but nowadays there are plenty of superheroes to choose, in that, Deadpool's not in my top 5. So I am happy he joined the 'X-Men', because I never liked the boring 'X-Men' films or its characters, but I do love its spinoff 'Wolverine'. I'll definitely look forward for his solo films like 'Wolverine'.

This film broke a few records like the best box office so far for an 'X-Men' installment. A short film with the present and flashback narration shared the screen piece by piece alternatively. This was a strong R rated film so far I have seen in a superhero theme and there were plenty of other films referred. No offense to the people who liked it (and those who are going watch will do the same), but in my personal opinion it was a bit over-celebrated.

6½/10

Without contest the best Comicbook based movie of all time. Plenty of love for the source material and even 2nd fiddles like Colossus were note perfect adaptions of the character.

The only criticism is that some of non-Deadpool sequences are pretty slow, but any scene with Wade post-Deadpool transformation is pure gold.

Though some of the fourth wall breaks might not be nearly as funny for someone not realizing what's being satirized, but for Deadpool fan you'll love it. For a comic book movie enthusist you'll know what he's talking about and love it.

If you don't watch many comic book movies, some of the references will probably fly over your head and may impact your enjoyment, though the same applies to the Deadpool of the comics as well so even that is still a proper adaption.

Masacre (me resisto a llamarlo 'Deadpool'.

Ryan Reynolds as the 'Merc with a Mouth' is his career defining role and after a string of flops that included the critically reviled 'Green Lantern' & 'R.I.P.D.', Reynolds FINALLY catches lightning in a bottle with the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time and it's well deserved. Seeing an R-rated (Fox) Marvel film with such a wide release gives me hope that whatever happened with last years 'Fantastic Four' reboot will not happen again, or at least not in the near future.

It’s very funny, very well acted, very well written and the action scenes and the practical effects are pretty damn good. It’s a bit short on it’s plot, but it doesn’t outstay it’s welcome and while this film won’t convert anyone to Deadpool who wasn’t there in the first place it’s a treat for any fans that have waited to see this film made, with all the vulgarity, swearing and 4th Wall being well and truly broken. Finally Ryan Reynolds gets the good comic movie that he deserves. There is a couple of issues with it, but there weren’t enough to sink the movie for me and I would really recommend seeing it at the cinema because there is a lot to marvel about it. It’s not the greatest Superhero ever made, but it’s a damn good one and a very funny one at that which kept me laughing from start to finish and if this is an omen for the year to come, bring on Batman V Superman, and Captain America Civil War already.

Go and see this one in the cinema, but I would also recommend if you are one of the people that wait for it to come out on DVD you might well be within your right because I suspect there will be an extended cut

This movie was historical and the action was amazing , the only negative issue with the movie is that I felt it was too short , iI never wanted this movie to end.

I hope Marvel learns a lot from this movie and I hope to see more Rated-R Marvel movies in the future.

Even Stan Lee's cameo was amazing and he's usually barely noticeable as his acting chops lack well chops. This movie definitely earned its "R" rating as there is plenty of raunch and nudity. Not complaining as it wasn't gratuitous by any means. The humor is on point and not just thrown out there to try and be funny. Ryan Reynolds is absolutely perfect for this role. I was also proud to see that the movie theater was carding kids trying to see this flick. If you want an adult superhero movie, go see this one. You need to not know a thing as the movie does a great job with origin story and current action together. It goes back and forth and superbly done. Whatever you do, stay and watch after the credits. There might be some generation gap issues for those not familiar with the 90's but all in all a f*cking great movie! Expand

Those moments truly drag on and get boring. Which is why I feel the future of comic book stories lies on Netflix, where you can do long-form stories that don't need to be punctuated by endless fight sequences. I enjoyed the snark of both Deadpool and Jessica Jones MUCH more than I did Deadpool. If you really want a biting Ryan Reynolds, go back and check out his vastly superior "Waiting". Hilarious. Expand

IfSimply put: I loved Deadpool. This is a movie and a character that felt tailored to Ryan Reynolds, using excessive amounts of sarcasm, gross humor and awesome action to craft perhaps the most enjoyable superhero to watch since Iron Man. If anyone has ever said "I wish some of these superhero movies would be a bit more adult-like", this is your movie. The character breaking that "4th wall" and talking to the audience at times, plus the sprinkled jabs at the evolving Marvel universe (especially after X-Men, Days of Future Past) are all incredible, bold moved that pay off. I loved just about everything there was to Deadpool. That being said, I did think that there may have been opportunities to make this origin story even funnier and more interesting - that would have put this among some of my favorite movies ever. It's absolutely entertaining, and I think a majority of viewers that are interested in watching this film will have a good time at the theater. I'd honestly give it an 8.5/10 if the rating meter allowed me to, but I went with the conservative approach in that department. Expand

What happens if you spend 90% of your budget on PR and 10% on the actual movie?

Claming to be an "adult movie", 'Deadpool' is just a weak ragbag of jokes the writers probably found written on the walls of various middle school toilets.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Deadpool defines one word... overrated. The movie is not the action-filled movie the people waited for, instead the movie is filled with black humor jokes and a summary of Deadpool's past as Wade Wilson, it only has two scenes featuring action, it's major flaws is the lazy and weak the action scenes were, Deadpool has no firearms at his disposal, as he later would forgot the bag filled with weapons, in the introduction, he forgot the ammo pouches for the Desert Eagles, as for the other part, the movie were filled mostly with Wade's past and it interrupts the action scenes that were already weak, the movie is unnecesarily long and tends to bore the people that watch it, the movie doesn't really provide anything new to the genre, it's cliché, from beginning to the end, we have a character, he was tortured, he desires revenge, he remembers his love interest and later the villain would capture his love interest, and he goes after the villain to rescue his loved one, a waste of money. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect actor to play the role. He smartly nails every clever quip and witty observation, plus he’s easy on the eyes. The script is by the guys who penned “Zombieland,” so that gives you an idea of the non-stop wise cracks and smart pop culture references that fill the dialogue. The comic-book-style action is edited with a rapid-fire pace, but unlike so many modern fights, you can follow every punch. The approach is irreverent, sarcastic and very funny. Deadpool takes the absurd concept of the super hero genre and simply runs with it. It isn't afraid to make fun of super hero movies in general, or even itself. It doesn't take itself too seriously and it has just enough story to validate it existence.

I truly hope to see more of these films in the future.

ThisNo offense to the professionals who do this for a living, but the critics are dead wrong with this. The only two ways you can possibly NOT enjoy this movie are if you take it too seriously or if you don't have a broad sense of humor. This movie's marketing campaign did a pretty good job of communicating what kind of movie this was going to be before anyone stepped inside a theater to see it. The humor is crass and irreverent, yes, but that doesn't make it any less funny. Anyone who says this movie is gratuitously violent has never watched a gratuitously violent movie before. It's violence that's on par for a typical R-rated film, but it hardly strays into Quentin Tarantino territory. There isn't a dull moment in this film and the story - as silly as it is - flows quick and doesn't get in the way of what most people came to see - the humor and action. Deadpool nails both of those marks dead center and is easily the best movie Marvel has put out in some time. Expand
