An absolute thrill ride, and one helluv a good time laugh! Deadpool 2 is an awesome mind blowing sequel to the first and is equally as good as the first. Generally better than the first movie, with fewer cringe-worthy joke attempts (but still more than a handful). The CG is pretty rotten and the action is just meh, but the movie is stronger than the first and somewhat enjoyable. Theres just so much CG even on Deadpool himself that you can never escape the uncanny valley feeling, but I've given up expecting Fury Road excellence of CG mixed with physical action. It is a very rare thing to have a sequel match or surpass the original, when that original itself was more than just mediocre but was in fact superb it's safe to say Rocking Horse droppings are more common, Deadpool 2 builds on everythingIt is a very rare thing to have a sequel match or surpass the original, when that original itself was more than just mediocre but was in fact superb it's safe to say Rocking Horse droppings are more common, Deadpool 2 builds on everything that made the original such a big success, the gags, the subtle and not so subtle references, everything! the whole package was superb.
Rarely do I walk out of a cinema and think 'THAT was worth my money, hell I'm even going to buy the Blu-ray / DVD' Deadpool 1 and 2 are two such films.

Oh and for the love of god, DON'T walk out when the credits start to roll as happened when I went to see it, the after credits are in a league of their own and definitely worth it.… Expand

This movie is the best movie this year. Watched Infinity Wars, Black Panther and this by far the best. 'Deadpool 2' is more vulgar, just as violent, just as crazy and more funnier than its surprisingly well-made predecessor from 2016. We see Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) coping with life as a mercenary and a loving boyfriend to Vanessa (Morena'Deadpool 2' is more vulgar, just as violent, just as crazy and more funnier than its surprisingly well-made predecessor from 2016. We see Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) coping with life as a mercenary and a loving boyfriend to Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). Things never go according to plan for our anti-hero, Wade, as there seems to be a kid, who goes by the name "Firefist" (Julian Dennison) causing some havoc with his strange and dangerous mutant powers. That is where a time-travelling mutant named Cable (Josh Brolin, enjoying to mess with many superheroes from "Avengers" to this) comes in and threatens to kill this kid. The plot is basically 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' (1991), which - as you can imagine - Deadpool does make a slight reference to. Wade then decides to recruit a team, as you saw in one of the latest trailers, he forms a group he calls the "X-Force" which includes; Domino (Zazie Beetz), Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgard), Bedlam (Terry Crews) and many others. Without saying too much, the scene with the "X-Force" is one of the funniest scenes in this movie, I can't explain why, but it's a scene I will never forget. The sequel - with David Leitch as the director - is definitely much bigger, but it never loses the heart of what made the first movie do so well. Nor does it lose track of Deadpool as a comic book character. 'Deadpool 2' deserves to be mentioned among the list of sequels that surpass their predecessors. The action scenes are terrific, the humor is offensive, the story goes surprisingly deeper, and the characters just keep coming. Overall, this is a really fun movie, with some really fun moments. Josh Brolin once again steals the show just like he did in 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018), Zazie Beetz does a good job as Domino, Julian Dennison plays well as a troubled kid, and Ryan Reynolds just carries this movie so effortlessly.… Expand

It's increasingly obvious the writing of the screenplay was more complicated than you thought, as shaping the hilarious dialogues for the anti-hero demands inventiveness from more than one brain. Reese, Wernick, and Reynolds stick thousands, thousands, thousands of references, not just as the usual easter-eggs game. Pop-culture is key, the endless mentions on screen through one-liners are sickeningly amusing thanks to our strange time. No-one and nothing can get away from the vicious signs: literature (Pericles), music (dubstep), singers (Cher and Justin Bieber), actors (Jackman and, oh!, Reynolds), of course film ("Star Wars," DC, Marvel, 007's "Spectre," "John Wick" and a long etcetera), and even the movie conception itself, laughing at the writing process, the production companies, its screenwriters and director through an unforgettable meta-cinematographic language. Such was the impact that I began to hyperventilate, picking references that maybe were never deliberately introduced by the screenwriters ("Spy" by Paul Feig or "Inception" by Nolan). Hands down, the film with more explicitly-implanted-in-the-script pop-culture references I have ever seen. It'd be demoralizing to say that, after the titanic and classical work put into "Infinity War" with regard to the creation, treatment, and exposition of its villains, Marvel has taken a step back, sorry, somehow it did. Obviously, most viewers buy a ticket to see their favorite hero do and undo, but it's important to know if whoever gets such punches— curse words in this case —has managed to involve with the audience and the story, here, none of that happened of course. Villain's role changes so many times that, in the end, the course of events seems disoriented; firstly, Cable would become a pain in the neck for the antihero according to the script, however, thanks to a shrewd plot twist, Mr. Nathan gives up his seat to two more characters, a yo-yo move that doesn't favor and ends up giving the perception there is no real villain, perhaps, the only baddie is Deadpool. This installment had the chance to remedy the lack of spectacle in the mise-en-scène and the exposition of the largest and most expensive set-pieces, however, even with a highly qualified stunt coordinator, you never get something really epic matching tremendous levels of violence with some kind of visual beauty. Stuntman-turned-filmmaker David Leitch is known for what "John Wick" is recognized as a cult-film today: its fierce, brutal, meticulously choreographed combats. Although it's evident an upsurge in less-artificial fighting scenes and comically bloody sequences, none of these serves to mask a lackluster visual buffet, in the last, lacking styled compositions that leave you astounded, doing no justice to the exquisite visuals and action in "JW" and "Atomic Blonde," the two previous works of the filmmaker. Jonathan Sela's cinematography handles intelligent and frankly striking angles, but he never ventures to pass the limits over and decides to settle with a couple of laudable sequences that always shine under the shadow of the well-made fights in the first flick, I find it somewhat strange, especially taking into account who its director is, not even the final sequence which draws its strengths on the always-funny performances and the unbeatable screenplay. There are similarities in a specific sequence, one that many remember from Miller's pic for the misuse of special effects, yes, the one in which Wade Wilson is kicking asses along a freeway as an opening scene, here, it's Domino who must withstand an embarrassing set-piece, it's unheard of the poorly-achieved digital effects it must endure, it seems as if the crew had forgotten to finish it and had decided to release it that way, the scenes aren't realistic at all, it looks like a 2000's video game. Tyler Bates doesn't do a sincerely rewarding feat as his "soundtrack" for the film vomits hyperactive and energetic melodies over the frames, that don't contribute anything to the visual part to excel. The only original song which can really monopolize the spotlights soon is 'Ashes ' interpreted by the queen Celine Dion, one which is used, covertly, more than once. "Deadpool 2" by David Leitch unimpeachably dynamizes only some of the features which made the first movie so freestanding, unusually special and extravagant while neglecting aspects of cardinal importance as a good approach to the characters, a stunning visual section and a deep, conscious development and treatment to a powerful villain. But don't worry, you'll get more vicious action, trenchant jokes and one-liners, visual gags, a new volatile group of heroes, many, many references of all kinds and an experience that does not disappoint, but what's a Wade Wilson/Ryan Reynolds who gets his long-awaited sequel where the only thing that matters is the surface? By the way, did I leave the stove on?… Expand

"Deadpool 2" was a very funny and very loaded movie. The mercenary loudmouth returns and with all the toys, the new story was amazing. Look. The first act "makes sense", but is overdone. Its a little too long and hard to understand at the time, not engaging enough and not the kind of start the movie needed. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Such a blast! Being a huge fan of the first film, I was happy to return to the world of Deadpool for a sequel! I was fortunate enough to catch the double feature screening, so the first one was fresh in my mind when I watched the sequel. Though most of the jokes were almost the carbon copy of the first film, there were some that were fresh and had me laughing out loud in my seat. The other element that they introduced was a little more of the humanity of Wade, which was a very warm surprise. Though the first half of the movie was spent trying to figure out how he could kill himself, I felt the weight of his heartache and the loss of purpose through the comedy and action. Domino was just stunning to have as an addition to the X Force!! Zazie Beets was such a joy to watch kick so much ass, while remaining light and fun to balance out Cable's dark story. The only weak link was Firefist. I feel like the jokes about thug life and his inclination for the crime world seemed a little unwarranted. Though Dennison was a good fit for the role, I feel the development of his character was too easy. Also, I love the LGBT representation!! They may be the first openly Lesbian Superhero couple I've seen in a Marvel movie! It made me real excited to see this representation happen in the superhero world. Overall, this was such a fun movie and I'm excited to see how the franchise pans out!!… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Movie is an improvement over the original. The movie has an emotional resonance that was not seen in its predecessor. Character introduction for the new characters was not executed properly as their character development is quite poor especially for the new kid villain (now a new member of the team). I didn't like the personality or characterization for that kid.

What I like in this movie is the overall humor. It manages to attract me with its well-executed humorous gags made by Deadpool himself. The humor seems a little corny at some points but rather it still successfully delivered. The relationship between Deadpool and his fiancee in the first movie is quite cliche and not so romantic to be expected. In this sequel, I have witnessed an improvement in their relationship as a couple which adds some dramatic and quite sad scenes on some part of the movie.

And lastly, the CGI is great and is not an implication of the movie being a small budgeted film. The movie delivers overall. Congrats to the whole team that made the movie and the whole cast as well.

Score: 7/10 or 3.5/5 stars… Expand

Zip it Thanos! Deadpool 2 is the summer blockbuster to beat. The follow up to this narcissistic dickhead’s first outing is witty, fun, and action-packed with (surprisingly) a lot of heart. Some average CGI for a superhero flick but I am forgiving considering that this movie is made for older audiences and had a lower budget. The low budget is also noticeable when compared to an Avengers or X-Men movie. It is much smaller in scope. Some of the humor is crude and is more appropriate for young teens but the movie is R rated due to language and violence meaning they are not actually allowed to see it. I would be happy for my 11 year old to watch this but not all parents would. It all depends on your opinion regarding naughty words. For adults, this is a little immature but a generally a fun action flick.… Expand

#11: Cameos were great. #12: some dull moments including really long “pre-ending scene”.
#13: fight scenes are amazing but Tim Miller’s version was more bigger-wider-farther camera angle.
#14: some sound mixing had issues in the begging of movie
#15: actors were great! #16: writers need to read more comics or at least play the Deadpool game to get the style of deadpool reactions to things. I still think they missed it.
#17: less 4th wall breaks! Sad!
#18: 4th wall breaks are mainly - talk to camera 3 times, queue the music. no use of environment or limitations of movies to break the wall other ways
#19: 1st 10 min of the movie "sets" things in too convoluted way, like a montage. Cmon guys, It's not 2000s. no fillers needed
Finally #20: some plot changes did not caught up with me, but since it's comedy, I may allow it to pass.
Overall: yes, second viewing WILL make it easier to understand but that's not fair.
Sequel added to the lore a lot, though, but ending did not hint on possible 3rd part.

This is the most annoying side of the film critisms, and the mainstream films. The mainstream films over-praisement the best way for the successful critics or movie sites, obviously.

See, I'm not a "Marvel" fan, but my favorite character from the megalomaniac marvel universe, is Deadpool. I like him, firstly I saw him in the game three or four years ago. So I feel I can't miss the first film 2 years ago, and the second film now. That is kinda guilty pleasure in the first film, Deadpool laughed to the face all overrated marvel superheroes, and he knows how ridiclius the superhero cult in the reality. I liked it, finally, hes a character who can laughed himself, also the marvel can laughed themselves. Perhaps this is just a plan, from Marvel, in which they swallow the money from the superhero parody, before other would do it. In instance, the DC with Lobo.

In my opinion, that's why the first Deadpool film feel so newish and good. But had an enormous difference between the two films. In the first film had a good and new ideas and thoughts, but in the second film it is'nt.



According the story: Wade's girlfriend killed by a gangster whose somewhy kicked in Wade's door. Wade is turn to depression, and try to kill himself, but it is not so easy, because he is still immortal. Colossus pressure him to join the X-Mens, and finally, Wade did it. He being a rookie, but in the first mission he did some bad things and arrest him by police. Deadpool go to jail! To a mutant jail.

Honestly, it is not spoiler, because this is not the original story of the film, just a frame story. The original story is not bad, just a small destiantion which is stick the characters together.

I guess, start at the good things about the film.

Firstly, the film still in the X-Men universe, so I'm still glad. I prefer this universe,  in my opinion it is works far better then the original marvel universe, even if had some Apocalyptically bad films on past. In my childhood I love the X-Men universe, especially in cartoons. I watched all X-Men cartoons from the 80', but I newer saw such an epic representation of the X-Men universe dark side. Maybe it was in the old cartoons, but the mutant jail in Deadpool 2 is the best way to show the mutants world darkest sides. In this aspect, the film almost PERFECT. Saddly it is just a frame, we were in for a short time period.  Despite this, the Jail have an epic atmosphere, I LOVE it.

Over and above, in the film featured by Cain Marco alias Jaggernaut. I really appreciate it, but in the films end, a bit humilated him. Josh Brolin was epic good. That guy is far the best actor in this film, he had the best acting performance in Deadpool 2. In addition, Sir Brolin is really hefty, he was ripped out very nice. (Testanol maybe? :O)

Worked really good some gags and jokes, - not all but some - it is Deadpool merits of course. And had an epic line of sceens amid the two credits. Well that 2 minute is the film best 2 minute, undoubtedly. Epic joke-fest, from an epic idea. This missed from the movie, the IDEAS... The unlimited ideas like the first movie.



You know what is the one of the biggest problem about this movie? The Deadpool movies ought to be with million pop culture reference. But honestly, in the second film barely had some of it. I remember once from the film, Russel said: "Have you ever seen an overweight superhero?" (Comment: I watch this film Hungarian, my own language so some pop-cult references ruined by the Hungarian sync.) The most referencesjust a DC humilating. Yeah, first time it's sound imaginative... "Who are you?" "I'm Batman", but the twelfth time already so boring. Marvel forced the self jokes and critic, but it doesent worked, rather they joke the rival DC. Sometimes they are did the Brolin-Thanos joke, but after five time, I got disappointed about that.

It was true, to the most of the jokes. I went to an A.M. projection, but sometimes when Deadpool told a "joke", nobody laughed, because it isn't funny, rather than cringe or just replayed from the first film joke. Yeah, and jokes! A lot of jokes and ideas recycled from the first film. A really lot. And they replayed the errors from the first film. Immediately, the film starts with an action scene with DMX-X-Gonna, like the first film. After this, the opening also according the same idea. Same "Wade jumping to the taxi window to behind Dopinder" like the predecessor. Things, what is working in the first film, did not worked here. The new gags working, but they did it million times. Dubstep joke did it four times, the "Hey Wade"-"Hey Yukio" joke did it almost million times. At first it okay, at second it is okay, and third... okay, on fourth a little boring, at fifth it is hellish boring.… Expand

Not many films can survive the sophmore jinx. Deadpool 2 survives this curse in spades and joins the ranks of great second installments such as Terminator 2, X2, Winter Soldier and Aliens. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Stuntman turned director David Leitch's 'Deadpool 2' starts with a bang... literally. Among the very first scenes our hero lies on top of a bunch of fuel canisters and blows himself up in glorious slow-motion. The result of this is the loss of his lover, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and with that said, this film is more absurd but at the same time more emotional that the first one... well, sort of, this is Deadpool after all, a vulgar anti-hero who cannot die.

If the first 'Deadpool' was about introducing the 4th wall breaking elements and intelligent and burning references to popular culture, this film takes it to a whole new level. Seriously, rather than listing the moments which contain these smart and witty comments, it is actually easier to list the moments which do not. This is, of course, incredibly funny, and the lines are delivered with perfect timing and tone by a Ryan Reynolds which I think it's safe to say lost his mind after playing this character (in a good way, of course). Unfortunately, this is a double-edged sword. You see, this film takes a pretty serious plot about a troubled and abused mutant child, a ruined family and a tragic death; themes which are often parodied in an offensive but incredibly funny manner. The problem is not here though.

The problem starts with the way this film treats itself. Starting even from its marketing campaign, it does not want to be taken seriously, nor it wants appreciation. Is almost as if it has no trust upon itself. But again, no problem here, as its self-deprecating humor is so good that it really does not matter. The tingle comes when it attempts to actually take something seriously - like the relationship between Deadpool and Vanessa, and Wilson's regret of not being able to save her. After ridiculing every single serious element and throwing continuous roast comedy rounds at everything, you do not want anything else. Is like living in a dark room for weeks. When you get out, the light is unbearable and you could not care less about it.

But, 'Deadpool 2' hits where it matters, delivering perfect dark humor, masterfully breaking the 4th wall; its biggest achievement though is the way it uses comedy to advance its serious plot, even though some hiccups are occasionally noticeable. But, as Deadpool said: 'lazy writers'.… Expand

Remember how Bad Santa was a great movie because it focused on the main characters killing law enforcement officers and white collar workers while just randomly making up reasons to kill them on the fly to justify what they where doing? Remember how when you where a kid you always thought superheroes where awesome because of how easily they could kill Timmy while he is trying to put food on his table?
Yeah that's the goal of the power fantasy according to Deadpool 2.

You might argue that such things are often the case but rarely is it this blatant. This movie plays out the power fantasy as if the writers had only had the basic concept explained to them by someone that hates power fantasies.

I loved the first Deadpool movie, I find the over-the-top violence and forth wall breaking shenanigans hilarious, but at some point half way through this movie just lost me as laughter and amazement started to turn in to a dull wait for it to end.

Time for spoilers!
I get it, I get that the guards at the ICE box are all horrible anti-mutant racists and so are the employees at the orphanage. However if you take a step back and look at what the movie actually shows you then what? Deadpool goes on a killing spree killing prison guards and people transporting convicts, we know a few of them hates mutants (not that they deserve to die for that but hey it's a movie so I can accept that as a justification) but we know nothing about the rest.

As for the orphanage? The director is some nutjob that should be locked up for a few years, one guy looked creepy, that's it, that's all we get to know.
Picture this: You get a job at an orphanage for mutant kids, director has some thing he does to the kids that seems to hurt but you don't know **** about mutants and he says it helps them. Also you know there have been generations of kids living here and leaving so if something was wrong the cops should have been here a long time ago right? Then suddenly one day that **** mutant **** that randomly shot your coworker last weak shows up with some woman and a dude with an assault rifle, they torch the place and start to murder people. Do you A) Grab a gun and try to protect the kids from the murderous psychopaths or B) Run for your life?
Also they are screaming about how fun it is to kill pedophiles and everyone are just looking around confused wondering where the hell that came from.

Where Deadpool 2 really fails is that it doesn't mange to set up a real goal for the movie, or a reason for why we need to have super heroes do any of this. Deal with Juggernaut? Sure, that could have been solved by Deadpool and Cable not killing law enforcement officials to begin with. Kid going mental and killing people, see previous statement. Ok so whats the way around that? Well you make the movie all deep and emotional, that's how you work with hat dynamic yet? And they did (tried to). BUT ITS A **** DEADPOOL MOVIE. I did not pay to go and see 20+ minutes of deep and emotional. I paid to see awesome fights between people with superpowers and maybe a couple hundred criminal henchmen being killed. Not just a few superheros slaughtering normal humans out of whom a majority are likely to just be innocent guys trying to live their life while working fairly respectable jobs. "But they fought Juggernaut" yeah for like 30 seconds and at that point they had already lost me. Also that's like the lames guy they could have been put up against to begin with. "Whats your thing?" - "I'm tall and have allot of muscles.." - "k..". On top of that Juggernaut wasn't even the point, he was just a small side note to be used as a plot device for a subplot no one cared about.

The reason I compared the movie to Bad Santa is because it basically comes down to "What if the kid in Bad Santa had a gun and was going to shoot his bullies?". But we don't need the pure awesome that is Deadpool to make that that movie, it's a waste of a character.

And then they have time travel and they use it just about as responsible as you would expect them to, aka not responsibly at all. Look, never have time travel, just don't. If you must send someone forward ONCE or someone back ONCE (from really far in to the future), and preferably never ever back, ever. Yes they ended by making the entire movie pointless and a waste of time as nothing of it ever actually happened because magic wrist watch, it might as well have been a dream. Actually it would have been better if it had just been one of Deadpools deranged dreams, then it would actually have made some **** sense.… Expand

Sooo much better that Infinity War. Be that as it may, this one was fun to watch, had great humor - ok, here comes the sermon - but too much drug use promotion (and remember, alcohol is the most abused drug in the world, though tobacco kills the most). Sorry for the sermon. At any rate, if your budget is limited, don't see Infinity War, see this one - much more bang for your buck. Also Rampage is better than Infinity Stones and deserves a higher rating.… Expand

The first Deadpool is a movie that will always stay in my heart,not because of the movie's quality,but because it's the movie that inspired me to start my career as a movie critic. (Crazy,right?)

Now we have a sequel about the Merc With a Mouth that falls into the usual 'Sequel Curse’,where instead of expanding the characters,they expand the ante on so many levels,some of them really unnecessary.
This was another half-disappointment for me (not like LEGO Ninjago where at the end,it made me feel empty).
Sure,the characters’ writing is here and there (that’s where Cable needs its own paragraph),but they play everything (triple emphasize ”EVERYTHING”) for a laugh. From Josh Brolin to RoboCop to Winnie The Pooh all of a sudden,which was very funny at times,certainly. Take that and cram in some excellent action sequences into a rather complex story that sometimes feels like a superhero movie and sometimes like a Friday Night Movie.
This is the kind of movie that feels like if the studio gave David Leitch (the director of this movie) a Checklist,where, as said, everything would be played for a laugh and sometimes there would be some setups to something.
Anywho,Cable, alongside Deadpool,is probably the one character who carries this entire movie. The Director and screenwriters’ passion was indeed there to make them feel like “He can be more than just a Rip-Off Terminator,I mean….He can travel through time!”. The movie would sometimes try and be as emotional as Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2,and sometimes it works,but sometimes it feels unearned.
Although you better stick around the end for that End-Credits sequence. Trust me,it'll be worth the pennies.
In the end,Deadpool 2 is just plain funny,and that's all you need to know going into it.
Is it better than the first one? Nowhere near,but nonetheless,it's “The First Great Movie Of The Summer”,which should tell you something. (I wish I would've said it with Infinity War if they didn't release it on April)… Expand

I have never cried so much in a movie. TIL when you laugh too hard for too long, your eyes turn to mush.

This movie is so franchise-making, standard-setting that Disney is definitely going to buy it and put Kathy Kennedy in charge.

By design, this movie is essentially what the first one could have been with a much higher budget. It's still absolutely hilarious to watch and Ryan Reynolds is definitely not afraid to make fun of himself at any moment to garner a laugh or two. I just wish that the one thing the movie wasn't afraid of was making fun of it's super dull, and super boring main plot that barely acts as a way to keep the laughs going. It was the same with the first movie. The writers are clearly not afraid to poke fun at anything, unless that happens to carry anything forward with the plot. It's such an easy setup too since both movies now have been almost the definition of a stereotypical hero growth formula we've seen from hundreds of other movies at this point. Still I'll give them credit for pushing the envelope yet again here with some of the humor subject matter and it makes me wonder what they'll do for future movies since Marvel will prob own the X-Men franchise before a 3rd one can come out.… Expand

The movie is as fun as you want it to be. If you're into this type of fourth wall, tongue in cheek kind of humour then you'll love it. The short review: This is as good/great as the first film and I have not even seen the first film!

Related media: The first film was banned from the cinemas and TV in my country and I still don’t know which scene(s) had caused this. Ha ha! I have also not read any Deadpool comics before, but I have seen all the clips you can get on Youtube.


What's it like? A major character dies at the beginning and Deadpool is depressed. He tries to prevent a young mutant from doing the wrong thing, but is instead imprisoned with the mutant in a place where mutant powers are neutralised. Then Cable shows up to kill the mutant. It has a lot of silliness, jokes, violence, and breaking-the-fourth-wall conversations, yet there is a good lesson in it. Mid- and post-credit scenes: There is one GREAT mid-credit multi-scene and no post-credit scene.


Positives: 1) This film is filled with jokes, silliness, and breaking-the-fourth-wall conversations. 2) At the core of the film is a message about the mutants vs humans fight that the X-men films had been trying to impart onto us, and it is great that of all X-men characters, it is the irreverent Deadpool that imparts this message best of all.


3) The cameos are very unexpected but are very funny. The cameos in the mid-credit multi-scene, including that of a character that is already dead in another film universe, raises the bar to another level of silliness. 4) Deadpool recruits several new mutants to his team here, they makes the film interesting. What happened to these mutants is very funny and Domino, a mutant with the power of luck, was a standout character.


5) The apt use of some 80's music also much appreciated. Negatives: Some say that this film is not a fresh as the first film. As I had missed out on the first film, it didn’t bother me.


How would the different age groups rate it?


Children: You need to grow up by some ten years first… but it’ll still be too adult for you! No Deadpool 2 for you!;
Teens: Are you going to be accompanied by your parents to this film? Then it will be an ‘Excellent’;
Young adults: Excellent;
Medium age adults: Excellent; Old adults: The film is too adult of ‘Old adults’. They would only give it a ‘Good’; Rating: 5/5 (no half scores). Pay to watch it in the cinema and then buy the DVD.… Expand

Deadpool 2 is an absolute fun Ride From start to Finish. It has everything that u expect from its meta witty jokes , 4th wall breaking , charismatic performances and outstanding action sequences which is as good as the first one. This film is full of a ton of stellar pop culture references and blink and you miss it cameos. The pacing in this film is a little all over the place but it smoothes out during the second act. the acting in this film is on point, and Julian Denison proves that he can handle his own and shine even through the biggest of action stars. One thing that is very original in a comic book movie and that turned out great is that the film has no physical big bad, instead, Deadpool is forced through a sequence of unfortunate events until he hits rock bottom. Zazzie Beet's Domino is by far one of the coolest characters in the film and her powers are depicted perfectly. the film also does a good job of balancing its budget, although some of the VFX shots are a little wonky. I wasn't very fond of Josh Brolin's Cable, he felt a little too over the top. Overall, Deadpool 2 is a great film that improves on the original with surprisingly a lot of heart.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some of the jokes fell flat compared to the first movie. It seemed like we were getting a more toned down version of Deadpool. In the first movie, he was an assassin (or Special Forces) and his introduction was interesting. Here, his story for the first 1/3 of the movie was drawn out and boring. Then he has X-Force and SPOILERS:



They all die except for Domino. So all those intros in the commercials was pretty much all of what you see them do in the movie. Also, the CGI on Colossus was just bad. In the first one, he felt like he was really there. In this one, he felt like he was CGI. The ending scene in the credits was OK although it didn't really explain how he could jump into himself but yet when he jumps into the scene where Wolverine was there, he's a second person..... And enough with the Green Lantern jokes.....

The jokes that did make the cut weren't that funny though. Some were good but most of them were expected and seemed toned down compared to the first one. Also they toned down the violence compared to the first one. That whole intro scene in the 1st movie was epic. Now we have a CGI fest that seemed too short and ultimately disappointing. I figured with all of the promos behind this movie before the release that this movie would not be like the first one. And it seems to be true. I think some of the jokes required you to be really invested in MCU and the comics, of which I admit that I am not. I just liked Avengers 1, Iron Man 1 & 3 (and some of 2), and Captain America 1 & 2 (more towards 2). Since CA2, I haven't been as impressed with MCU movies and I think I'm over them now. Even with Star Wars and Disney, after Last Jedi, I feel like my excitement for that too has dwindled. It's like we need to step away from franchises and maybe just make well written movies again without factoring in sequels and merchandising.… Expand

Nevertheless, amongst all the comic book genre tomfoolery Deadpool 2 continues, most old and new characters, particularly Vanessa, still a motiveless victim, serve zero plot purpose. Cross my heart when I say this: Vanessa’s so-called motivational words leave no impact on however little story exists, Wade’s unfortunate dad backstory already serves plenty motivation for his emotional state. Likewise, Dopinder receives a dumb unnecessary subplot eager for contract killer work, and Weasel does literally nothing… like, at all. Yet Blind Al still expresses genuine life despite her shades and should still hit your funny bone in the same way she did before.

Now for the new characters. Despite being a relatively good antagonist, Cable’s whole scenario of a future cyborg sent back to execute someone who’ll cause a future tragedy rips-off Terminator. The fourteen-year-old mutant, Firefist, is supposedly there to be an unofficial son figure to Deadpool, yet because of the poor writing that thinks outside in, that piece of heart never ties the film’s emotional beats together. In the first feature, it felt like the characters were all exaggerated by Deadpool’s interpretation of them, but this time around, that feel is gone.

The lazy messages take forever to develop without cleverly exploiting its moral against discrimination. The first motion picture focused on Wade Wilson’s new life once his mutation made him facially resemble a Dorothy/Scarecrow baby, except here, his facial disfigurement never effects the narrative. Though director David Leitch does utilize true nastiness through his crafty exploitations of the anti-hero’s powers, a gritty level quite dissimilar to other superheroes improved off the first installment.

The satisfactory direction indeed allows a few successful pieces of comedy: the very first frame’s jab throw at Logan should guarantee a big hoot! But several other jokes hypocritically focus on criticizing “lazy writing,” which this too is guilty of. Its awkward jumps between emotion and humor triggers laughs only during the worst instances, the hills ever so alive with odd tonal shifts:

A skee-ball token to Wade from Vanessa
A sign for their love like a lounge in Marquesa
Their situation will tug those heart strings
This is one of many odd tonal things.

Funny moments get sandwiched between sadness
Fear for their conflicts will lead you to madness
Martha‘s just one pop culture gag it brings

By mocking “smart folks,” Deadpool ultimately says to follow your impulses, since anyone following authority deserves public mockery. Its racist intro turns that disdainful attitude quite inappropriate when Deadpool kills Asians to cool music, Kill Bill style, Sicily next on his radar. Most responsibility of this mocking lands on Julian Dennison, an awful child actor who plays Firefist by screaming in a bad accent. He pales beneath some more talented cast members, particularly Leslie Uggams, whose angry nature still acutely depicts Blind Al.

Off a practical perspective, a generic car chase breaks innumerable laws of physics. Deadpool’s powers overall suggest literal immortality, as if his powers’ limitations were apparently made up on the spot throughout the pre-production process. Numerous images attempt to make its action memorable by relying on graphic blood-splatter. The works of Mel Gibson took on infamously gruesome visuals to help advance powerful emotion; Deadpool 2 fails to do the same.

Funny enough, Mr. Pool guy tells you right away while the first feature’s a date movie, this one’s a family movie. He then lies right away about his sex-toy story by saying every great family production starts with a murder: Bambi and The Lion King as prime examples. Ahem, look at E.T., Beauty and the Beast, and WALL-E! Why would credibility exist within a mockery of family productions if the screenwriters misunderstand their functionality? Despite stress on a family message, the interpersonal interactions on screen here suggest the opposite of a family.

Ultimately, him dressed in Bob Ross attire was the only way Deadpool improved my life, leading me right into watching The Joy of Painting on YouTube out of intrigue. Yes, you might call it an instance where the trailer became better than the end product.… Expand

A sadistic approach on the comic tone has always been its window which they have increased to an annoying amount of time as it manages to undermine the current moment. Just as the first installment, there isn't much to look forward to on the plotline (which is predictable) but the journey it takes; even though it derails a lot, is intriguing and amusing at the same time. The major conundrum of the feature would be the lack of connection with the audience (even though the protagonist is literally filling in the audience with the details) as the stakes and emotions projected in here are shallow and doesn't go as anticipated. The songs are upbeat but the technical aspects could have been a lot better like the background score, vfx and editing. David Leitch has done a decent work on directing and pulling off the mayhem that this feature is, but unfortunately wasn't supported by the cinematography or the choreography which is essential in such features. The performance isn't upto the mark by Ryan Reynolds (but then Deadpool is quite complex to play) and neither is supported to that extent by Josh Brolin which comes off a bit disappointing. Deadpool 2 is an overstretched feature that numbs the emotions as it ages on screen let along draw it out and the soul reason would be due to the wafer thin script that never bothers to even justify the actions occurring or even make a definite point out of it. Having said that, if considered as just a parody of another installment of its predecessor, it works just fine.… Expand

Deadpool 2 is absolutely perfect movie. It is funny, action packed, and very unpredictable. Deadpool 2 is a great movie that will give you the most fun two hours you'll spend in a movie theater all summer. Better than Avengers: Infinity War.

Deadpool 2 is a great film that stand by itself. You don't need to see the first film in order for this one to be good. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but something that I noticed. The comedy is well placed, for this most part, and works well (again...for the most part). The action is great and the music that accompanies it is as well. Ryan Reynolds kills it yet again, which was expected. You can tell that he loves playing this characters, and that getting it right means a lot to him. As mentioned before, some jokes didn't land the way there were meant to and sometimes ruined the scene. There is a scene near the end of this film that is meant to be completely serious because there is no joke in that scene. The emotional core of that scene just isn't there because the characters don't earn that moment. There is a good balance of comedy and seriousness that a film must have if it wants to achieve an emotional moment. Unfortunately, Deadpool 2 does not have that nor does the story allow the time needed to build that connection. Putting that aside, Josh Brolin is amazing as Cable and is a very good villain. The whole cast is great but some have been sidelined. There are plenty of new characters and many surprises that come along with them that make this an enjoyable film. The cameos are great and the post credit scene is even better. My hope is that for Deadpool 3 they create a better story that isn't as basic as the first two films. It worked great the first time, but if you want to build characters and have the audience connect with them you need to have better motivations and more of an emotional core.… Expand

I rarely like action hero movies. They seem pretentious and too full of themselves. Deadpool 1/2 is the antithesis to this. As is Guardians of the Galaxy (I loved the first one, and enjoyed the second). It's the same ingredients basically, but with Deadpool it just nails all of it. To a wall. Through a head. It's so unconventianal it just keeps throwing surprises at you. And... Yes, this movie actually has depth aswell! I have to admit to a bit of choke-up a couple places. Didn't expect that, but I gladly welcomed it.

Can't wait for the third.… Expand

This movie has a better budget than the first one, which results in better action scenes and a lot more places and characters for Deadpool to interact with, which keeps things more interesting. Brolin does a good job as the straight man in Deadpool's world of insanity and kicking butt. However, it's Zazie Beets who really steals the show as Domino. She does a great job as the sassy, sarcastic counterpart to Deadpool and her luck powers work for some really creative fight scenes. No spoilers, but one X-Men character who has never gotten his or her due finally gets his/her cinematic moment to shine.

Now, why do I think the first one is better if this one is funnier? Deadpool 1 was a lot more solid plot-wise. Deadpool 2 is darker and more anarchist than the first. At times, the more serious scenes feel like they conflict with the more humorous ones. I do appreciate the need for an emotional backbone to the film, things could've been smoother. Anyway, if you liked the first you should still really like this.… Expand

wow, just WOW. this movie was absolutely hilarious. Ryan Reynolds is so natural as Deadpool and the humor is spot on. there are some issues with the CGI but nothing too inexcusable. this movie is an enjoyable watch and i will definitely bewow, just WOW. this movie was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't tell you a DC comic book based movie from a Marvel comic book based movie and not being particularly interested in either I went to see the original "Antman" and Deadpool" because of the actors involved. To my surprise, I enjoyedI couldn't tell you a DC comic book based movie from a Marvel comic book based movie and not being particularly interested in either I went to see the original "Antman" and Deadpool" because of the actors involved. To my surprise, I enjoyed both and was looking forward to their sequels even though, in most cases, the sequels are very disappointing. "Deadpool2" is a very big disappointment in that it throws everything it can on the screen and very little of the sarcasm or irony, let alone course 'humor' comes across. There are 1 or 2 smiles along the way but that is about it.

There is some attempt to make a story about creating your own family which is completely undermined time after time. The film is filled with raunchy words, gestures, crude, rude comments and actions plus a continuous dismemberment of every limb a person has. There are a couple of lines and sights of what one would call banter such as comparing "Yentl"s "Papa, Can You Hear Me" to "Frozen"s "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" but even that would probably go over most of the audience's head. Three screenwriters, including the star along with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, put everything into a movie about a super comic hero that you have seen before and will see again but whereas in the first "Deadpool" it made fun of it all here they try to make fun but fail.

Ryan Reynolds gives it his all which is plenty and his breezy manner help but to no avail. Josh Brolin, as dour as can be doesn't get to laugh whether Reynolds places his bare hands on Brolin's bare butt cheeks or when he lands face down on Reynolds crotch and I wonder if either get hazard pay for these extra stunts?

Morena Baccarin, as Reynolds's love, is beautiful and that is all her role really cares for except to be beautiful even when dead, talking and walking. Stefan Kapicic is an impressive Colossus (at least voice-wise as the 'person' seems to be a special effect), cabbie Rob Delaney, offering some humor, along with a teenage mutant Julian Dennison who is just in an annoying role and a new band of superheroes consisting of Terry Crews, Lewis Tan, Bill Skarsgard along with Rob Delany whose superpower is being an ordinary person. Leslie Uggams returns as a blind neighbor of Deadpool and also new superhero Zazie Beetz who lights the screen up every time she is on it.

"Deadpool 2" is really a waste of money and time so I will give this genre one more chance when the sequel to "Antman" comes out.… Expand

It takes a special kind of character to break the fourth wall and talk to the audience in a way that Deadpool does. While this happens from time to time, outside of the few times this occurs in Fight Club, I cannot think of a single majorIt takes a special kind of character to break the fourth wall and talk to the audience in a way that Deadpool does. While this happens from time to time, outside of the few times this occurs in Fight Club, I cannot think of a single major film to date that has done this successfully. The first Deadpool film did this seamlessly as it took us on a journey through the anti-hero’s shady past, and the follow up builds on this as well as other aspects flawlessly. Everything from the over-the-top violence and crude humor to the one off cameos, Deadpool 2 hits its target, even when aiming left of center.

The film opens an unknown amount of time after the events of the first film, with Deadpool using his abilities to take down high value targets that other assassins are too afraid or ill-equipped to handle. After pissing off the wrong target, he loses everything and is soon suicidal, found by Colossus and taken in by the X-Men. Needless to say, his first mission as part of the team goes south and he’s found in a mutant prison. Soon into his stay, the time traveling Cable, played perfectly by Josh Brolin (Avengers Infinity War, Sicario) arrives to assassinate Deadpool’s new cellmate. After his violent escape, he sets out with his not so trusty sidekick Weasel, played by TJ Miller (Silicon Valley) to build a team, known as X-Force. The team sadly falls apart too soon, as the characters play well off of each other.

The entire cast works well, playing out like a highly dysfunctional family with the supporting cast offering just as many, if not more laughs than Ryan Reynolds in the titular role (as well as pulling an uncredited double duty as one of the film’s villains). Reynolds, Brolin, and Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino bring the characters to life, ripped straight from the pages of the Marvel Comics’ series they are based upon. Beetz simply steals any scene she is in with her comic timing and commanding presence, avoiding her becoming nothing but eye candy, which is the case with many of the female superheroes (I.E. Black Widow, Catwoman, Harley Quinn). My lingering complaint with the film is that Domino’s makeup and hair differ greatly from the comics and make the character almost unrecognizable visually. While I can see why the opted to have a single eye covered in white makeup opposed to her entire body, which would be a nightmare touching up on the set of an action film, I found her afro to differ greatly and is far from tactical, considering she’s an assassin.

The movie involves some time travel, which has been an issue in the past with the overall series but this movie handles it well, making few changes in the past that would come back to bite them in the ass. The X-Men film series are known for having the very definition of a nightmare when it comes to continuity, and Deadpool 2 does right some of these wrongs, yet makes some similar mistakes as well, due to a blink and you miss it cameo. The film even goes as far as to try to right one of the series past mistakes.

Much like the original film, there is quite a bit of CGI that works well. Colossus makes a triumphant return, and while he looked a bit too SyFy channel movie of the week in terms of appearance in the original, he often looks like he is a legit man made of metal in this outing. While I feel his appearance in X2 was more appealing, this venture was a step in the right direction. The movie’s biggest baddie (in terms of size and scope) is also 100% CGI and looks impressive, with this being his best on screen appearance to date.

If you thought the original Deadpool was an immature, crude, hyperviolent piece of trash, you’ll probably think the same of this sequel. If you’re like me and look at him as one of the best superheros on the market, film or otherwise, you’ll have an amazing time watching the story unfold.… Expand

Fantastic and Hilarious. The start of the film was gold and set the wheels in motion for the rest of the film, was a fantastic opening sequence. My local boy Julian Dennison, who starred in perhaps the best NZ film in history 'The Hunt ForFantastic and Hilarious. Don't want to go into detail to much but overall it was much more absurd, rude, hilarious and at times was a tad emotional and serious. FYI: After the movie has finished, I recommend you stay afterwards, you will be pleasantly surprised. =)… Expand

Like many sequels, this one isn't as great as the first, but unlike many sequels, it's still pretty damn good! If you saw the original you know what to expect: snarky quips, witty observations and plenty of smart culture references. The off-the-wall superhero is back to fight some bad guys and assemble a spinoff team called X-Force. The action is brutal, but in a comic book style that never lingers on the damage. Even so, the noisy fights become a bit alike. If you're a fan of the original, you won't be disappointed. If you didn't see it, you'll still find yourself entertained. NOTE: Stay thru the early credits for a few gags, but the only thing at the very end is a weird song.… Expand

The year of Marvel continues. While Deadpool 2 is not as great as Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War it is still a fun action movie. It is true that the breaking of the fourth wall is running thin the jokes is still funny. I liked RyanThe year of Marvel continues. For me, this movie has been pure entertainment. Although the beginning was quite slow, this was still a movie living up to it's potential. VFX on sum cases were quite ''meh'', although due to Deadpool even announcing the fights as cgi fightsFor me, this movie has been pure entertainment. This movie did somthing that not many comedies have ever managed to achieve. It had an interesting,funny and successful sequal. This movie is as good, if not better than the first movie. Deadpool is evidently a character of dark joy and protuberance. he is perfect that way. When you start to play with the human factor, in major cases it ends up with a rather rewarding result. I found the film extremely fun, Domino is a badass and I was laughing out loud countless times. However, I did feel the new concept of a caring, vulnerable Deadpool, going back to his past and all over, was pretty unecessary and shouldn't have happened. That being said, there is nothing else to see as a flaw here. A highly recommended view!… Expand

I got confused. Is this a comedy or a sci-fi flick? One thing for certain it's an above average movie. Fun, funny, good and entertaining. The first one was better, more defined.
