It's not as bad as Epic Movie and Disaster Movie but it's still a terrible movie. Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg are under the impression that copying a different movie shot for shot, but adding fart sound effects is funny. Oh my gosh this was terrible. The story is so downright unfunny and boring. I laughed like 3 times during the whole thing. If you want to laugh, watch Scary Movie.

I dont understand how anyone with an iq above 80 can give this movie any more than 0 rating. How did they get it funded?

Oh gosh... that trailer made me feel like I don't want to see this movie. Even better news... the movie is worse. Compare it to Epic Movie and Disaster Movie which came out a year and 2 after this... even Epic Movie is better than Date Movie.

This movie initially had me reeling... Until it became stupid, dumb and disgusting. This piece of fat is bland and is really just full of humor that kids make all the time. Just awful.

This movie is NOT FUNNY. It will get a few laughs, but mainly it simply has various reenactments of scenes from other, much more funny movies. Not worth the time or money. If you want some laughs, I think Big Mommas House 2 was hilarious.

The worst film I've seen in a long time. These writers should never be allowed to work in Hollywood again..ever. I laughed more during an episode of Oprah then this movie. Save you money, and don't waste your time with this garbage.

I do enjoy wacky comedies like Scary Movie and Teen Movie so I was looking forward to Date Movie. I turned it off within the first 25 minutes and never looked back. This is an astoundingly bad movie. It's almost on a Nothing But Trouble-level. It is a film that seems to want to punish the audience for existing. I teach high school students a film course in comedy, and invariably there will be a contingent who complain about having to watch -- egads -- black-and-white movies or, worse, silent films. This operates on the mistaken assumption that sound + color = funny. It's the right of the uneducated to -- up to a certain point -- hold this blanket, underinformed preconception. I can only pray that Date Movie is the antidote. Here is a movie that is wall-to-wall body fluid/function jokes (in color and sound, no less) and there's not a laugh to be found. This is in opposition to Not Another Teen Movie or the tv show Reno: 911, which rely on all manner of fluid/function jokes and bother to make them funny. Maybe I can thank the makers of Date Movie for giving me a film that pretty much every one can point to and say, "See that so-called 'comedy' movie? The one called Date Movie? Yeah, that one. Not funny!" Perhaps we can show this film to anti-American terrorists, assuring them that we, too, find it horrendously unfunny. There IS common ground. Who knows? Maybe the makers of Date Movie will be awarded a Nobel for uniting the world against this one thing. This is a film that even the stellar cuteness of Alyson Hannigan, the endless charm of Fred Willard, and the inventive verve of Jennifer Coolidge can't save.… Expand

Unfortunately, some people also put comments on here, and they said it sucked too. I started questioning seeing this movie, but my friend said, hey, maybe it's funny, let's check it out. No exaggeration, this was the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. There was nothing funny in the movie, it tried to make spoofs of every movie possible and none of them were good, half of them just didn't even make sense how they fit into the movie. We walked out halfway through, we just couldn't take any more of it. DO NOT see this movie. And I mean don't even see it when it comes out on video, unless someone pays you...maybe.… Expand

The script was perfect. But they should have made it 150 minutes long, had long dramatic pauses between dialogue, and had a scene in Japanese with English subtitles. Then it would have been a masterpiece.

Alyson Hannigan is the new "Anna Faris" in this movie and Adam Campbell is like the new British white Marlon Wayans, we know Hannigan's character "Julia Jones" is lovely and caring, we know she has a heart it's just we don't care if she gets the guy! almost every actor in this movie was terrible their one liner's are so cheap and unfunny it's clever in a weird way i'll the give the screenwriters credit. It's cheap and grotesque they don't work anymore the satire is old, the film makers are making a parody of them selves basically. I just don't get it why are Seltzer and Friedberg making a parody of good romance films and actions flicks? The film also mocks celebrities. Grade D+… Expand

Date Movie has a good idea of ​​parodying various elements of pop culture, but manages to fail miserably and bring a boring, disgusting, and acidly offensive movie.

Too Terrible for words
I really regret going to the movies to see this and playing 12.50 for the tickets so I can see it.All I can say is that I want my money back and the 75 minutes i spent watching this movie which i will never everToo Terrible for words
I really regret going to the movies to see this and playing 12.50 for the tickets so I can see it.All I can say is that I want my money back and the 75 minutes i spent watching this movie which i will never ever get.This movie is absolutely rote and the acting is awful.The parodies they did in this movie were so bad.In the first 10 minutes of the movie I saw 3 people get up and leave.They didn't return.The same happened at 20 and 30 minutes.These were all kids.There wasn't a single laugh in the theater.Hardly anyone stayed at the end.Don't rent this movie at all - it isn't worth the $1 rental price.I really regret ignoring peoples advice that saw the movie "Dont see this movie! it is awful" Aaron Seltzer who directed the movie really doesn't know how to make movies.I really wanted to give this 0 stars but instead the lowest possible rating is 1 star.Officialy in my top 10 worst movies I ever seen in my life.I don't think Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg should be able to make movies again after Epic Movie,Date movie,Meet the Spartans,Vampires Suck.
