Its director helmed a film that had gotten tons of attention and to me had seemed terrible. I'm talking about Host.
I guess a lot of people live online and found the experience of that film somehow ''interesting''.

Now, that film was no experiment, and neither is this one, but it shows how stretching out something that shouldn't be so long completely undermines the atmosphere its creator thinks he's building.

Also, with such a repellent lead character and such an annoyingly limited narrative device, to me Dashcam simply can't pull off anything that can feel scary or sinister in any way.

There's commitment in it. But that's all.… Expand

This movie suffered from two problems. The first was the decision to cast Annie Hardy in it. She's insufferable. She's so thoroughly unlikeable that it's grating to watch her do anything at all. At times it drags, and the viewer is stuck watching a despicable character be awful for long stretches of time.

When supernatural things happen in the film, it would be reasonably interesting if we cared at ALL what happens to Annie Hardy. It's just that you wished she would die already and stop talking.… Expand
