I had the misfortune of believing the movie would improve as it neared the end. I was wrong.

Coyote Ugly is one of those movies that hides behind its feel good ending. The fact that everyone ends up happy at the end doesn't mean that the film isn't a sexist, overly long, overly shmaltzy piece of terrible cinema. The fact that everyone ends up happy at the end doesn't mean that the film isn't a sexist, overly long, overly shmaltzy piece of terrible cinema. Sure there may be some who consider the film a piece of female empowerment cinema (Zack Snyder probably) but in the real world its just a story about a girl who gets pushed into a corner and uses her 'feminine' ways to get herself out. The romance between Perabo and Garcia is empty as the two have no chemistry and the scripting is terrible. Its beginning to end a terrible film that I advise you to avoid. Unlike Sucker Punch this piece of female empowerment doesn't have some visually stunning fight scenes to fall back on, just a tepid love story and some uninspired music choices.… Expand

This movie's only redeemable quality was a theme song by Leann Rimes that has since become a guilty pleasure of mine. Otherwise, this movie is a steaming pile of dog **** and a terrible romantic comedy.

It's an odd film...it try to be 2 movie in one, so it fails at both. When It tries to be a romantic comedy for "girls"..It does It using every outdated stereotype of that genre and bad writings (Young singer that try to live in a big city butIt's an odd film...it try to be 2 movie in one, so it fails at both. When It tries to be a romantic comedy for "girls"..It does It using every outdated stereotype of that genre and bad writings (Young singer that try to live in a big city but end up working a modest job, some crazy but honest besties and an handsome-and-a-little-mischief-but-honest-guy). When It tries to be a movie for boys it also use oversimplified image and ideas...so it fill the screen with beautiful girl that dance, act "wild" and drinks lots of booze.
It is not sexy, it is not funny, it is not romantic, it is not realistic...it just tries to capitalize on an old article from a fashion magazine.. Avoid It like plague.
Boring, plain and old....it's like a bad copy of Cocktails (80's Tom cruise movie)… Expand
