A pretty good movie that has its flaws but all the characters have their uniqueness that makes it really enjoyable.Give it a chance and you will be pleasantly rewarded

I understand it was nothing remarkable but come on, it is not that bad. It was funny and relaxing to watch. It makes you want to go to a tropical setting too!!

Is not one of the worst movies I have ever seen , but also not approaching the best films . It is not a film that makes us laugh a lot, but it is a quiet film, and fun to see . Nevertheless , it is not a movie I would see for the second time

I give this a 3 because the first 15 minutes were promising and then it just turns into hours of horrible dialogue. I mean really boring, totally not funny endless blabbering about absolutely nothing. Started off with a cheesy idea. and then it got sooo bad it became a chore to watch. The whole movie was not funny. With ALOT of pointless scenes like the "shark" siwm which was boring, not funny and jusy plain stupid. what a waste. AVOID!!!

I had very high expectations for this move because of the comedic cast. This whole movie was very tame and felt tedious. What are you expecting watching "Couples Retreat"? It's inevitable, cliched and boring but I kinda had fun watching this movie I find it comforting and relaxing, also the characters are like able the chemistry that the actors have with oneWhat are you expecting watching "Couples Retreat"? It's inevitable, cliched and boring but I kinda had fun watching this movie I find it comforting and relaxing, also the characters are like able the chemistry that the actors have with one another is good. Dave (Vince Vaughn who also wrote the script) and Ronnie (Malin Akerman), Jason (Jason Bateman) and Cynthia (Kirsten Bell) and Joey (Jon Favreau who also wrote the script) and Lucy (Kirstin Davis) including Shane (Faizon Love) and his young girlfriend Trudy (Kali Hawk). The group use to include Shane and Jennifer but their divorced she's gone. Jason and Cynthia's marriage is in trouble, their deciding whether they want to get divorced or not as they explain in their Powerpoint presentation as they explain to their friends. The only reason they wanted their friends to go was because an order to come with them an order to get the "group rate" package, the only one they can afford. So the friends go on the trip, and they learn many things about each other that they didn't know before like Dave and Ronnie think their marriage is "something to work through." Joey and Lucy can't even stand looking at each other, so Joey thinks about cheating on her. Shane and Trudy are having trouble relating to each other to their age difference. What really bugs me about this movie is the script is written by Favreau and Vaughn also Dana Fox, two actors who are funny and talented yet this movie isn't all that funny I don't know what was happening when they were writing that script. But overall I enjoyed this movie despite it's lazy, cliched, but the dialogue that the two comedic star write is humorous and entertaining. 3.5 out of 5 stars… Expand

Despite a gorgeous setting and funny performances with great characters, Couples Retreat is nothing more than a star studded big paycheck for all the actors. I give this movie 22%.

The film has a good premise but is let down by a poor script. The jokes aren't particularly funny but the talented cast do their best. Definitely watchable but it wouldn't come highly recommended.

Amazing how Vince Vaughn's creations go downhill...fast. How can you put this in front of an audience ? It's not funny, it's not original, it's not worth anyone's time. Open the garbage bin, throw it in.

If you've seen the trailer and are curious, you certainly will not be disappointed. It should score in the low 60s at least on this site, this really is one of few where metacritic is way off the mark (another really clear example that readily comes to mind being "Vanilla Sky").… Expand

Regardless of who you are, you will laugh throughout the movie and not that many movies can make that type of guarantee. Give it a chance and you will be pleasantly rewarded.

It had your stereotypical black couple. Could not get pass that. Black people were being made fun of in this movie... left the movie along with four of my friends that also agreed.

This movie was very good.. I give it a 10/10. But of course there were some jokes you can hardly laugh, but the whole theme of this movie was good. I really loved the music in this film. The only good thing I can say about this film is that I had a free DVD rental code. It's so painfully bad, I shut it off 20 minutes or so in, right after the 4 couples I cared nothing about landed on their island. Awful, trite, terrible humor, not funny AT ALL...I don't know how I managed to watch it till the end (I'm ashamed of myself for that!)....dont waste money and time on this garbage.

Wasn't funny and the only decent parts were recycled from other movies. It was also 113 minutes which is unacceptable for basically all comedies, especially a weak PG-13 one. Shame on the good comedy actors who agreed to work with this script

The story is really stupid and full of plot holes, no one wanted to go, but Vaughn gets roped into it and they all go? Everyone's getting divorced, than they dance and are in love, than they argue and are getting divorced, enough is enough! This movie sucked! Run of the mill comedy, pretty cliche, but I did get some genuine laughs. Vince Vaughn is on par, playing Vince Vaughn, and his chemistry with Favreau is still there.

Currently watching cause my wife chose it. This is one of the worst movies I've watched in a long time. Barely funny at any point. Extremely superficial and lazy. Waste of great actors.

Four couples with issues, some known well in advance, and some which arise during their stay at the Eden West Resort, Four couples go to Bora Bora, an island paradise with water so blue, the moviegoer will wonder if it's CGI-enhanced. Four couples with issues, some known well in advance, and some which arise during their stay at the Eden West Resort, whose program director is so stereotypically French, it's like he has a mime stuck up his a**. When Marcel(Jean Reno) puts pressure on Shane(Faizon Love), a commando-practicing obese black man, to take off his drawers for a couples skills training exercise, he relents, and scores an obligatory laugh from moviegoers, because big ones are supposed to be funny. It becomes less funny, however, if you set this relationship dynamic in a historical context, where Bora Bora continues to be a French colony. Clearly ashamed about the rolls of belly fat hanging over his body, Shane's friends seem like fake friends, as they allow Marcel's unreasonable request to go by without anybody ever opening their mouths in protest. Both the women, and the men, must really want to see Shane's p****. On all counts, "Couples Retreat" is just so dishonest, because it pretends to be innocuous and coy. Here's yet another example of a film that reeks of meddling from studio execs, who insist that all the characters be likable. That the couples are, and boring. Some of the vacationers have cheating on their minds, in particular, the former high school football star(John Favreau) and his wife(Kristen Davis), but they never act on this impulse, since that would force the screenplay to go to places it isn't permitted to go.
