By the time the protagonist begins to make any headway it's when she's way beyond help and most people at that point would go to the hospital and not go around trying to sex people up. You can also tell this movie is going to be a drag due to the sex scenes. Any film or tv show that uses sex is, in my books, usually sub-par on the story. I can't say I was surprised by the rule of thumb being accurate once again. Expand

So bad it's good. There should be more horror films about demonic sexually transmitted diseases. If parents and teachers want teenagers to be abstinent, all they need to do is show them this movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie a very unique zombie movie. We all have seen in zombie movies that when people are bitten by a zombie, they become one. Contracted is unique because it shows a healthy young lady becomes infected with the zombie virus without being bitten, she's infected as a result of an STD she contracted on a one night stand with a stranger.
Overall, the movie was enjoyable. The ick factor is definitely present, a few scenes are definitely disturbing, and the ending is a cliff-hanger that has you wanting more.

But this movie was just was so poorly executed, I had to say something. Contracted as about a young women named Amanda who gets date raped by some dude you never see the face of and gets an STD where she starts turning into some sort of zombie within three days, although she decides have sex with him in the first place. She starts losing hair, defecting and vomiting blood, veins are all over her skin, she has black and blue spots everywhere, her teeth teeth rot and her eyes turn red. It seems interesting and scary, but sadly after a while it drops the ball by becoming more disgusting than scary. You think this movie would scare teenagers and young adults into not having sex without protection, but it doesn't do that at all. Amanda is a terrible character. Although most of the characters were underdeveloped, she's has to be the dumbest. She was constantly convincing herself nothing was wrong with her. Although, there was clear signs that there was. When she found out she caught the virus, she doesn't tell anyone. Meanwhile, the guy she slept with is wanted by the police. As the virus gets worse she gets more crazy and people start to distance their selves away from her. But she starts killing her friends and she spreads the virus on who she completely ignored and was **** to the whole movie. I'm not going to spoil the ending, but all I'm going to say is that it's stupid and rushed. Contracted is of full questionable decisions, bad characters and great idea that's spoiled by a rushed plot. Expand

Cheesy campy zombie movies can be fun, but Contracted is dreck. The STD as a plot device isn't enough to carry a movie, despite the blatant reference to AIDS. I am uncertain whether the story intended to portray the protagonist as a victim, or as being punished for whoring, or both, which could be the only accomplishment of writing in this movie. Expand

Overall, it was a pretty good movie up until the third act. The third act was a complete mess. It didn't make any sense, there were no explanations given for her behaviour and the ending was ridiculous. If you can look past the third act, you will probably have a good time. Expand

A few years old now, but great movie. I think a lot of people didn't get it, but my take is one of a vulnerable girl-one who no one actually ever "saw", even when she was obviously sick, including the health system (happens frequently). TheA few years old now, but great movie. I think a lot of people didn't get it, but my take is one of a vulnerable girl-one who no one actually ever "saw", even when she was obviously sick, including the health system (happens frequently). The BJ character recognized that and targeted her specifically, roofied and raped her. You have to fine tune to see specifically the way she has been manipulated or let down by key figures in her life. No one in her life is even slightly interested in who she actually is, including herself. Interestingly, in the end they are largely her targets. Smart movie, very ahead of its time. If it came out doing the "Me too" movement, it would have earned more respect. Anyone else who claims she had willing sex with "BJ" needs to read up on what rape is in this day and time. Being drugged and having "no" not stopping a sexual partner is actually rape, everyone! Expand
