The atmosphere that the movie builds is excellent and it will captivate you. However, by the end of the movie, you may well have a feeling of emptiness, and this will almost certainly be down to the quality (or lack of) of the story. There is so many plot holes, so many nonsensical moments that, as soon as you take a minute to think about them, you understand how the cinematography is the only thing holding this entire project together. This is based on a book, a book which I haven't read, but from what others have told me the movie is pretty faithful to said book. There are simply too many plot holes, too many unexplained actions, and too many actions that make no sense, to make this movie function as a standalone work. If you can tolerate ridiculous, unexplained actions that do not make any sense by all means give it a go - for me one watch was enough, and the only reason I made it all the way through was due to the excellent atmospheric feel of the movie - without that it would've been a 1 or a 0. Kinda The Descent meets Lighthouse with a Lovecraft atmosphere. Really well directed and an impressive cinematography, the music score is really effective and acting is overall really fine. The main problem is that the event goes way too fast, the suspense and the mistery around the story was immediately obsolete and that's a shame for this kind of horror movie. Some elements are also quite strange and doesn't really feet the main survival story. Otherwise the experience is still enjoyable. Expand
