Really wanted to like this movie more than I did. Things we all just a bit off. The could have had so many better ideas and uses for the things they had access to. A waste of possibilities. Fun pop culture references for the adults keep a light mood. The screenplay is poor with a distracting weird cel shading style to many of the 2d characters. Switch off and enjoy to it's inevitable conclusion.

I grew up watching Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, and imagining a Who Framed Roger Rabbit style sequel got me all excited. Overall...it's fine. It is a massive nostalgia trip filled with tons of visual memberberries and very light on substance.I grew up watching Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, and imagining a Who Framed Roger Rabbit style sequel got me all excited. Overall...it's fine. It is a massive nostalgia trip filled with tons of visual memberberries and very light on substance. Ugly Sonic was awesome. It's a rollercoaster of boredom and references. I have a lot of issues with the animation, it looks bad most of the time. The decision to use all CGI animation is understandable, but it looks cheap and so many characters don't interact with the world well at all. The casting choices were kinda off as well, but I was happy to hear Gadget's voice actor was still the fantastic Tress MacNeille.… Expand

I see what Disney is trying to do by making a new movie similar to Roger Rabbit but throwing a bunch of cameos on the screen does not make a good story. Chip and Dale are done well but are just pulled down by the other characters. A rare squalor happened, of course. The characters are like the pictures of a bad artist, flat and empty. Facial expressions and forms are alien. There is no depth and love, not an adequate plot. Inappropriate flat humor. A fierce mockery of the secret. An absurd untalented product without a sense of beauty, reminiscent of the very pirated products from the movie. They dumped everything in a heap and made a huge unintelligible dump. A bunch of some defective characters, like the Sonic who talks about the existence of the original Sonic, by the way ... They completely unreasonably mocked the key points, just for fun, only comedy is completely out of place here, like the comic creators. And all this, of course, under the sauce "We love the Rescuers." Well, well ... They couldn't do it, in general, for real, like at Disney. Only that picture was remembered, which hung on the wall at the "actor" Monty. And how wonderful it would be if the whole film was of this style and with an adequate plot.
Luckily, this is not an original reality that could continue canon. To understand this substitution, which tried to continue the series, it is enough to see in the film an episode with the participation of Akiva Shaffer, who allegedly filmed the original series in 1990, be it wrong. For that alone, I thank him.

It's **** the cgi looks bad just as ugly Sonic and the characthers in the cartoony style are cool actually but they don't fit with the rest!

Horrible, if you loved the original do yourself a favor don't watch. Voice acting is bad, premise is a subpar remake of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Don't know why they just didn't do a sequel to that instead of ruining Chip and Dale.

Oh wow it's Chip N Dale. Look, it's Ugly Sonic, he was funny. Gee whiz it's an NES, games were fun on that system. Look, it's a car from Cars, remember Lightning McQueen? Kachow! For this kind of film, really decent entertainment for adults who were glued to the boob tube in the 80s. Cool references to other franchises that often go beyond what you usually get. You can tell they've put some thought into it and it doesn't feel like a cash grab. You can tell the passion and knowledge of the material. I'd love to see more of it. Will not be everyone's cup of tea. For example, if you're expecting more 80s TV series flair, you should lower your expectations a bit, as 2 characters have little screen time and it's not really a Rescue Rangers episode.

It's not a general 9/10 of course, but for this kind of movie yeah, it holds up to the latest Sonic and Pikachu movie. Which one holds the crown might be a matter of taste.… Expand

Why is it that Disney wanted to give a much more serious approach to these characters? I honestly don't know.
In some points it works, in others it seems like it's trying too hard.

After all it's the story of what wasn't meant to be, and what was lost in Hollywood. In the most purest Who Framed Roger Rabbit style.

Not sure what everyone’s deal is here, but this movie was awesome. I’m a 80’s kid and seeing all the cameos was insane.

It’s got some weird pacing (feels longer than its 97 minute runtime) but it’s definitely Who Framed Roger Rabbit? for the Disney age. Forgot how many of these characters I recognized from my childhood.

Rescue Rangers was... pleasant? Like a lot of Lonely Island projects, I'm not sure who this is supposed to be for. If you love Rescue Rangers? This movie isn't for you. Never heard of Rescue Rangers? This movie isn't for you. This is thatRescue Rangers was... pleasant? Like a lot of Lonely Island projects, I'm not sure who this is supposed to be for. If you love Rescue Rangers? This movie isn't for you. Never heard of Rescue Rangers? This movie isn't for you. This is that weirdly common Hollywood project that is for people who have HEARD of Rescue Rangers, but have no affection for it and are ready to see it torn down. The central gag of the film is the tired, 90's gag of "what if cartoon characters were washed up and bitter?!?" If you think that idea is funny, and never gets old, then you will love this movie. But as tired as much of it was, I laughed out loud several times. Mullaney and Sanberg are both highly intelligent people who give depth to the characters that many actors wouldn't. It's highly watchable. But it's not good.

You know the thing when a movie points out what's wrong with it, as though self awareness absolves it of it's crimes? This movie does that repeatedly.

A just slightly better than bad film with weird flashes of brilliance and inspiration.… Expand

As the main villain says literally in the movie, "I'm an Alvin And The Chipmunk person" and that's exactly who i am, i grow up with Alvin And The Chipmunk, watching the three live-action movie with Jason Lee and because it's my childhood i'veAs the main villain says literally in the movie, "I'm an Alvin And The Chipmunk person" and that's exactly who i am, i grow up with Alvin And The Chipmunk, watching the three live-action movie with Jason Lee and because it's my childhood i've always loved those movie especially the first one and so i never ever been a Chip 'N Dale guy, and literally only know the name and the characters, that's it, i don't even know which Chip and Dale was, how are they're personality, and coming to this movie just with that knowledge, didn't have any expectation, and my god, who would've thought that a Chip 'N Dale the movie from Disney+ is becoming one of the most entertaining films of the year, one of the best films of the year, and personally one of the best live-action animated or even animated films i've ever watch, it's just great, it's amazing, it's fascinating, and the best thing is it's so much fun, the CGI, the animation, the story, and even the whole cameos and crossover whatever you wanna called it, they use it perfectly, and probably the weirdest feeling that i have while i'm watching the movie is that, me coming as a guy who never watch any of Chip 'N Dale cartoon and anything, feeling quite emotional and heartwarming at one point when all of the Chip 'N Dale teams are together, it's crazy, and it's so great, i love it and i love it, thumbs way up for Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers.… Expand

For every fan of the original show a must see. A really refreshing but respectful adaptation of the original material.
The movie has also similarities with The Roger Rabbit movie.

The different animation styles are really well done and imaginative.

This Lonely Island + Disney combo is the mix I never knew I needed. In addition to being a fun little story, the memes, easter eggs and cameos fit very well here without feeling like a marketing campaign (a la space jam). It was very well made for a lot of Cameos and hilarious cause I love chip n dale rescue ranger movies, and it makes since 30 years ago, so I can wait to see more chip n dale movies and more cameos just like Who framed Roger Rabbits.

It is an enjoyable movie if you can endure that the original show was just a TV series and all characters actors. This is immediately told in the movie and even in the Metacritic description so it is no spoiler. This is immediately told in the movie and even in the Metacritic description so it is no spoiler. If you get past that it is a fascinating story full of humor, easter eggs and fan service done right. Also it shows a bit of the dark side of the movie industry like former famous actors chasing the former glory and success or abandoned child actors to name a few. It is set in a Roger Rabbit like world where cartoon characters and humans life together. Approx thirty years have passed since the “Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers” show was canceled and Chip and Dale had a fallout before that harmed their relationship. Both struggle in different ways when they are asked by their friend and former co-star Monterey Jack for help. He has in real life the same cheese addiction and is in debt to the Valley Gang. As result he fears to be kidnapped and has to produce bootlegs for the rest of his life. Here I stop to not spoil the story. The story surprised me in being entertaining and enjoyable. They mix serious issues and humor well together in a way that non harms the other. Also the humor and easter eggs / fan service are great. It is one of the movies you rewatch to see what you missed the first time. The characters feel great and I praise the whole cast of voice actors. They bring life, emotions and character to the cast. I must also praise the writers and director for making this take / idea work. That the original show was just a TV series and all characters actors is hard to swallow. I was skeptic but not only sold they the idea to me they made it an enjoyable experience. The animations are top notch as I never question the setting of cartoon charterers and humans coexisting. Also they use different styles and make it work (Cant go in details because of spoilers). Overall this was a positive surprise for me that I enjoyed. Not the best animated movie of all times but definitely worth watching.… Expand

A fun movie that is like a mild version of Roger Rabbit. Though, like that it is still a little darker for kids. Just without the inside sex jokes.
There’s some nice cameos and Easter eggs. Some you wouldn’t even expect in a Disney movie.
