There are some funny moments and the performances are spirited from the entire cast. Unfortunately, although as a remake it is acceptable it does have its weak spots. I didn't feel as though it had the charm of the original, by that I mean that doesn't quite have the irreverence and likability that made the original so endearing. There are some pacing problems and major discrepancies in the screenplay, plus the direction wasn't as strong as it could have been. On the whole though, it is not too bad. There is some nice scenery and camera work. The performances from the cast are fun; Steve Martin does very well in the title role, and the ensemble of children have strong chemistry. And despite the weak script, there are some funny moments, like the mince-in-the-trousers part. And there are some heart-warming parts like the ending. Overall, flawed but acceptable. 6/10 Bethany Cox Expand

its half-good, and half-bad at the same time.

Purely lighthearted family comedy. An amusing take on the original version, Steve Martin proves himself much more than likable in this role. One too many kids, not enough laughs.

A very average family film that deals with the trials of living in a large family. I like Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt and they do a good job here, but the script failed to capture me fully.

Like most recent Steve Martin movies, sadly to say, this one isn't that good, and focuses on the aspects of family and lighthearted fun. The execution is poor and the script is weak, but the message is warm.

Cheaper by the Dozen lives up by its title because that's what makes Cheaper by the Dozen a weak movie. It literally gets cheaper by the dozen amount of times I see this movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (spoilers) Cheaper By The Dozen seems like a kid movie that starts off pretty smooth, and leads to some slowing turns. I actually like the setup, with Steve Martin looking pretty good as a father to 12 children, but then ever since they moved to another place, they start to trash it and go too crazy. Then the plot gets totally confusing and then everyone hates each other. This really got me not interested. Seems that the movie might still delight the young kids, but I don't think it really did well for me. Cast acted pretty well though. Expand
