Its political attack points are something that falls flat, however Killmonger's hate is something that is very real and relatable in this world. Something many people will claim the anti-hero to be right about, which is the most compelling part of the story. However, the portrayal of this theme is weak, and lacks complexity. The overuse of CGI, and the overall lack of real story makes this movie fall short of great. Expand

Every actor did a great job especially Michael B. Jordan who played one of the best villain in superhero movies ever; his motivations are so compelling that make you sympathy with him. The dramatic moments were touching and they are clearly inspired by The Lion King. Unfortunately, the action scenes are very very bad especially with the use of such poor CGI; the characters seemed as they were fully animated in some kind of a computer game. The major issue I have with this movie is the ending; it's so rushed and clichéd. I think the movie should have been separated into two parts because it ends weirdly, I feel that the ending came out of nowhere; it's very misplaced. I hoped to see King T'Challa more stronger as he was in Civil War but they made all the women in the movie stupidly strong that their fight scenes overshadowed Black Panther's. Overall, I had so much fun watching this movie but I think it's so overrated.

Breathtakingly colorful, political without being ham-fisted, all pistons are firing in this film that is only dragged down by outdated attempts at humour.

Black Panther is hands-down one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.Ryan Coogler brings his magic to this franchise along with absolutely brilliant performances
from the whole cast and the very unique score which is the best marvel has ever produced yet along side with Kendrick Lamar,The cinematography of the movie is gorgeous which makes it visually jaw dropping. The themes and culture represented is what makes the movie interesting and gripping. Michael b Jordon's Kill monger as a anti-hero steals the show with his motives being very clear which adds layers to the story. The movie as a whole is grounded to reality despite having futuristic tech. The only Minor issue is the CGI is noticeable in towards the 3rd act.

Mediocre, don't bother with this movie. Decent special effects, boring with poor humor. Jump of the hype train. Never ride it.
All I can say of this review is **** This guy must of been going to the counter eating popcorn or something cause is stupid. T'Challa is full of love and not hate. This movie is love and not hate. T'Challa and Peter Parker was great in Captain America and were both my favorite in CA and it transferred over into this movie. Both Spider-Man and Black Panther are great movies.

If you are looking for something totally different and out of the trend of the Marvel movies, then I am sorry, this isn't it. However, I went to the movies expecting a Marvel movie, and this delivered with excellence and freshness. I rated an 8 because I too desire something a little bit out of the ordinary Marvel mixture, but it wasn't there. Anyone who is a Marvel fan, I recommend this movie. Expand

First and foremost what i enjoyed from the movie was the characters this is one of the few movies whereby almost every character no matter main-cast or side cast was done right.I enjoyed Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther,Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia,Micheal B Jordan as Killmonger and special shoutout to Danai Gurira and Letitia Wright as they portrayed their roles very well mostly because i didn't expect them to be so good. Now since this is a Marvel movie we all know there is going to be humor and Black Panther truly did have some funny moments that were well executed and rather unexpected with made the movie more of a fun time to watch,BUT AGAIN since this is a Marvel movie there was some campy and unneeded humor which toke away some of the seriousness of the movie sometimes and just uneven, and it can be disappointing that Marvel still don't know how to balance funny moments and serious moments sometimes.

However the action was very good,Black Panther has some of the most enjoyable action sequences since Captain America: Civil War and i especially liked how some action scenes were gritty and grounded while other fight scenes had more of a comic book movie style which was very fun to see and also a bit different. Now for the story,i personally liked the story not just because it was different than any Marvel movie because of it's cast or location but because it related to the real whole in some aspects and we haven't seen that since Captain America: The Winter Soldier dealing with stuff like politics or social commentary so it was greatly appreciated and needed.

The Villain Killmoger is easily in the Top 5 if not Top 3 of best Marvel villains or best villains in recent superhero movies, because who understood his motives for being the way he is and why he is doing the things he did.Micheal B Jordan was good in the role had felt like a genuine threat to Black Panther and Wakanda and his motives again weren't generic or cliche and his story is clear and fully explained in the movie.

As for the bad things in the movie well,i didn't find anything that was a huge problem with the movie however this was not a perfect film.I already stated that some of the humor was forced and it doesn't seem like Marvel is learning from this also some character motivations for me shifted too quickly or easily for my liking, what i mean is during the course of the movie some events may lead a character to change during the course of the movie which seems weirdly easy and almost rushed for the sake of it this goes for Black Panther himself and Daniel Kaluuya's character but luckily it was too bad that it took your focus off the movie and another thing is certain things are not explained in the movie like the spiritual aspect is not explained and certain plot points come out of nowhere and the movie just expects you to be okay with this which is just super lazy.

Also these maybe nitpicks but some of the special effects look weird and some of the African accents are exaggerated (don't know maybe because i'm African and i notice this stuff). Now as i said the movie is pure Marvel 101 but it is different in how it executes things like the villain and how the hero grows from his challenges and learns from his mistakes which is good story-telling and the world of Wakanda was well detailed and again the African culture aspect of the film as super on point and the world building was well done and sets up the future of Black Panther without being forced.

Some may say this is a typical Marvel movie and some of that is true but with over 10 films from Marvel it is nice too see that there can be new concepts and ideas to explore while maintaining the humor, action and well done story-telling that most Marvel movie have and can't wait for the future.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Movie is solid - definitely in the better half of the MCU. My biggest disappointment was how they portrayed Black Panther. In the comics, he's god tier strategist. Has contingencies for everything and while they made brief mention to Killmonger's brilliance as a special ops solider, we don't see it as much, particularly since he seems to struggle with the Wakandan guards. I'm just hoping they power him up in the future because he doesn't seem very capable without the help of his fellow Wakandans and that doesn't seem like the Black Panther I remember from the source material. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good movie. All of the positive things you have heard over and over again are true. Great world building explaining Wakanda and their history. Love the different fictional African tribes with their different religions, styles and technologies. This film stands well on its own among the Marvel movies in that a lot of the MCU backstory is not needed going into this movie and it stands well on its own. Also, as with most MCU movies of the last couple years, the universe is a lot different coming out of the movie than it was before coming in. The scores and soundtracks are some of the best I've heard in a movie in years. I would actually buy this soundtrack which I haven't done in quite awhile. My only 2 complaints are the shaky-cam fighting style used to hide the mediocre fight choreography and the killing off Klaw. I thought he was a fun chaotic villain that was different from most MCU bad guys and it would have been great to see him return to hassle other heroes in his unique way. It seems like Marvel sets up too many villains just to kill them off in their second outing. Aside from my couple issues, the movie is well deserved of its praise. Expand

The cast and characters are great, Ryan Coogler's direction is impressive as always and Michael B Jordan really stole the show for me, quickly becoming one of Marvel's best and most likable villains for me. Visually, this film is also impressive with it showing great care in displaying the vibrant culture thats represented in the film. Most of the problems in this film, for me revolve around its second half where I really felt like its becomes too caught up into itself as it doesn't take any risks and wastes opportunities to really carve out Erik Killamonger as the villian I envisioned him to be behind Jordan's intense, focused and rage fueled performance. All in all, its a pretty good movie, go see it but don't get caught up in the unfair expectations that the media have placed unto the film. Overall score: B- Expand

Black Panther is strongest when it just puts two characters on screen and puts a conflict between them: whether that's Killmonger disagreeing about the origin of an artifact or T'Challa disagreeing about his nation's role in the world. There are a lot of great scenes and amazing style in this film. However, they should fire the editor. The editing is bland, choppy, and distracting. The editor left no space for scenes to breathe and many sequences feel rushed. In sum, Michael B Jordan puts this movie on his back and carries it through to the end; his raw emotion contrasts wonderfully with Chadwick Boseman's stoic Black Panther and the supporting cast is excellent. "Black Panther" was a film that had me excited from the get-go, honestly even more so than the extremely-hyped and much-anticipated "Avengers: Infinity War" (don't get me wrong, still looking forward to it, just keeping my expectations in check). I'm so happy that "Black Panther" didn't disappoint me, and it's personally one of my favorite films in the canon thus far. I loved the film for how it focused so much on character-building than just throwing baseless action scenes into the fray, and I also felt the characters in the film were some of the most memorable, well-written ones in the MCU thus far. The design of Wakanda (and the film as a whole for that matter) is breathtaking, the acting is superb, and the film succeeds at being both emotional and often quite humorous. This is another very strong entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, and it's absolutely worth watching! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When Marvel started this ambitious journey of creating a universe that spans dozens of films, I did not think it would be this successful. But after surprisingly good films and high production values this was bound to happen. Marvel has finally released a flawless motion picture and, so far, one of the best of the year.

What really makes Ryan Coogler's 'Black Panther' stand out from the rest of the MCU films is that is the first film which has a proper historical and cultural identity. More so, director Ryan Coogler knows how to combine it perfectly with the fantastic elements and sci-fi technology without becoming a Black Power Movement film. This is still a Marvel superhero adventure.

Not only that the real and fictional fuse perfectly they also flourish together through brilliant cinematography, bold set decoration and slick camera movement, Coogler aiming for a very dynamic style even when filming calm scenes. These, mixed with cool and sometimes epic hip-hop and trap beats or even African chants expand the usual Marvel Cinematic Universe creating a visual and sonic landscape. And is this fusion which dictates even the plot, presenting a so true story of African-American oppression through history and how the past can come and hunt you. An idea perfectly exemplified by the scarred villain Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) which manages to completely overthrow the powerhouse country of Wakanda in a single day!

So, "Black Panther" is powerful, perfectly balanced, a treat to look at, funny (as expected from a Marvel film) and possibly the best MCU film yet!

Good but not great. The African theme is great but the story itself is no better or worse than other superhero movies. I think this movie is getting more positive press because of political correctness.

Though I believe this to be a very strong Marvel movie, it is bogged down with far too much CGI and towards the end loses its message of individual strength. I will say it is probably one of the best scripts for a superhero film.

It really is it's own movie and I think that this is where it finds its image, how it's excelled far and wide from everything that's come before. It's different and it does a good job proving that you don't need the biggest names to come in for some superstar spotlight show stealing intervention. Boseman does a remarkable job in the lead role and the cast's performance sets great role models for viewers. Linked messages about race and a very well developed villain (or at least a very cool one) helps its story. It isn't the most entertaining or star-studded MCU film, but it doesn't try to, nor does it need to be. A well written script and jaw-dropping visual design help carry it across the well deserved ($1 bil worldwide gross) finish line. It invests more points in quality than entertaining re-watchability, and it succeeds well. Expand

The story was deeper that many superhero movies and easily tackled issues such as isolationism and the best way to bring power to the helpless. I was easily able to see things from the perspective of all of the characters and I fell in love with each of them. The acting was phenomenal and the attention to detail was beyond impressive. I adored the hair, outfits, music, and scenery that seemed to accurately capture an advanced civilization in Africa that had not lost sight of its roots. Marvel Created Another Marvelous Movie

Black Panther was a surprisingly captivating movie. Though I presumed that it would be somewhat predictable, Black Panther contained countless twists and turns throughout the storyline. It was especially entertaining to see the creativity of the creators flourish in the culture of the Black Panther’s homeland.

The most riveting factor, in my opinion, was the setting. The location of where the main characters resided in was hidden from the rest of the world. The reason for this was to keep a valuable material hidden. The plethora of this material was the foundation of the city's futuristic technological advancements. The rest of society had only seen glimpses of its capabilities.

It was enthralling to watch individuals from the outside world try to take some for themselves. What was even more interesting, was the motive of the outsiders. One, of course, simply wanted its value and power, but another had a more personal motive. It was intriguing to watch that individual attempt to execute his manipulative plan. His greatest fault was his underestimating the Black Panther.

In my opinion, the futuristic component of movies is usually overrated and overused, but in this case the use of technology was really creative. The Black Panther’s suit had the most mind blowing features embedded in it. Also, the technology that was used for transportation was also very original.

I saw this movie at Ipic which, unlike Black Panther, I think is overrated. Unless you have a membership and regularly see movies, Ipic is too expensive. The seats at the AMC at Desert Ridge are just as comfortable and cost considerably less. The perks of being at Ipic include a small pillow, blanket, and being able to order food during the movie. The food is good, but you could get the same food for less after the movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Black Panther is a great movie as expected from the polished track record of Marvel movies. Black Panther has been a hit due to its depiction of a black protagonist which is a feat already achieved in movie super hero films with blade. However, it is not only about black characters it’s also about African culture and the effects of first world countries have on 3rd world countries in Africa. It brings into light racism, foreign aid and global responsibility. Unfortunately, by the end of the movie it does seem like more of a pretext to the antagonist motive for revenge than to the main themes of the film. The story itself is original twist on the social hierarchy of African countries in the world. The story starts with the main character already being a hero and successor to the throne which progresses the movie faster but does reduce the character development and this is the same for a few minor characters where they are not giving much backstory. The pacing of the film also seems to be a bit off with a lot of the start filling you in on what happened before the film and It seem like it’s back tracking on itself rather than telling a story; However, it does give a mysterious tone early on that sets up the twist in the middle of the film. I like the ending: The movie ends with the villain dying for his cause and the hero is impacted by his view and philosophy to change himself and his countries ways to better improve society and the world.
I believe that character development seems a bit lacking; but I also feel like the cast of the movie has improved the quality of the characters adding need personality. The cast has been praised for its almost all black cast of new and experienced actor mixed together: the actors I was not familiar with where still as capable as the one I was more familiar.
The costume design looks good and a mix of modern with tractional African attire and added to the setting of the film. My only critique to the production of the movie is that there was too much CGI It felt like the CGI was used even when it wasn’t needed and it detached me from the film, for example a lot of the fight scenes with black panther involved incredible acrobatics but it was all in CGI. The music for the first half of the movie was very immersive it was African instrumental music used as action music and was great. The second half of the film felt like a switch where it was action music sounding like African instrumental music or just standard action music.
My full review of Black Panther resulted in some minor critique to a small number of aspect of a great movie with a great plot and rich is in African culture. The quality of the actors and production quality is up to the standard set by Marvel movies and has resulted in a 8/10 from me.

As seen to the outside world Wakanda is a very poor country and one the poorest countries in whole world. It is fortified by mountain ranges and has rainforest all around the country. Wakanda has the shield that covers over the whole country so no one can really see what is inside. Once you enter the shield you can really see how beautiful the country it is.At the beginning of the movie it describes how the country became so technology advanced and how the black panther rules over Wakanda. Director Ryan Coogler’s addition to the MCU received acclaim from critics and audiences alike, as well as breaking an impressive $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Perhaps key to the success of Black Panther is the way that it thrills both fans of the superhero flick but also transcends the usual bounds of the genre, in its characters, design and themes. This is a film that subverts the typical Marvel formula, something which is long overdue.
Chadwick Boseman comfortably leads the film as the eponymous hero, venerable monarch by day and suit-sporting vigilante by night. T’Challa rules the nation of Wakanda, a futuristic and technologically advanced utopia shielded by a mask as a third-world nation. T’Challa’s ex-lover, Nakia (played on expected brilliant form by Lupita Nyong’o) fights the case for Wakanda’s moral duty to share the truth of their wealth; this is one of many surprisingly complex questions which weave their way satisfyingly into the narrative. Taking this even further is the film’s villain, Erik Killmonger, a Wakandan isolated from the kingdom, calling for a revolution by black people against their oppressors. Michael B. Jordan is a charismatic villain, wonderful shades of humanity embedded within his performance, providing a fitting and scarily relatable foe for the Black Panther. A spunky ensemble (though prone to spouting exposition) completes the mix, Letitia Wright’s Shuri acting as the Q to T’Challa’s Bond and Martin Freeman delightfully Watson-esque as an obliging CIA agent.
For the most part, Black Panther is a stunning movie to witness, embracing its Afro-futurism with a colourful and vibrant design. The film feels very much buried in its cultural roots, which gives some understanding to the film’s significance. Ludwig Goransson provides a luscious and innovative score and rap numbers courtesy of Kendrick Lamar complement the action. The action sequences in the movie are also riveting; “I never freeze” pronounces T’Challa coolly in an early scene… and neither does the film itself. Pace never lags in relentless and sharp action sequences, gripping the audiences to their seats and, at some points, providing a strong emotional pay-off. The final act is certainly where the film is at its most disappointing, descending into an increasingly loud and banal CGI-fest, which, whilst not uncommon in a Marvel flick, is certainly beneath the calibre of Black Panther. Visual effects are also dodgy at certain instances, oddly plasticky and unfinished-looking. For the most part, however, Black Panther delivers soundly for popcorn moviegoers, never allowing its themes and cultural statements to overtake the pure entertainment.
One only has to see Black Panther to understand the reasons behind its sensation and the whisper of Oscars floating around. Ryan Coogler has crafted a visually staggering blockbuster, which manages to tell an engrossing story, with plenty of popcorn thrills, yet also a remarkably deep cultural message that boasts great relevance. Black Panther is without a doubt one of the most exciting and inventive Marvel outings yet.

I'mIt sucks to have to start off a review like this but I couldn't help but notice the weight of negative reviews left for this movie and the nature of the comments. The stench of racism and agenda pushing is blatant and ain't fooling ####. I'm not one to think we live in a world full of racist, however its sad the amount of people still out there with so much hate that they feel the need to purposefully go online to review a movie just because of the precedents it sets. All for a movie that although has general positive message most would agree with, really doesn't get too political and is actually pretty safe.

With that out of the way, now to the movie itself. Was this the best marvel movie now to date? Probably not. Was it still a fun and refreshing movie to catch? Without a doubt. There wasn't anything groundbreaking with the storyline, however everything you would want at least in an action movie checked all the boxes. Character motivation was believable, there weren't any annoying holes in the storyline, and the villain was reputable. The action scenes weren't on Civil War level, but not many movies are, and they were definitely not void of originality and excitement.

The whole cast works so great together, especially with Chadwick Boseman's strong lead performance, and Michael B. Jordan's equally strong villain. The story, action, and visuals are all top-notch, and it never gets too silly or carried away with itself like most of the Marvel films do (even though that's what makes them fun either way), but it definitely is refreshing to see a bigger breath of maturity in this film than what I'm used to with most of the other Marvel films. Overall, yes it does have important social commentary behind it too that may seem to take precedence over the actual story and everything else, but really if you ask me, I thought that it blended very well with the rest of the film's aspects. Again, to reiterate, this really is one of Marvel's stronger efforts in recent memory. Expand

Marvel president Kevin Feige announced late last year that there will be a noticeable difference between Marvel Films Pre-Infinity War and Post-Infinity War, and the latest release from the studio quite clearly proves this point.

Black Panther, mistakenly labeled as the first African-American superhero in cinema: Blade, Storm, War Machine, even Frozone from the Incredibles, has turned into the banner for diversity in the Marvel universe.

Yes, the culture and political standpoints that the film tackles are very relevant and downright powerful at times, yet the mass media seems to want to pigeonhole the film to serve its own political agenda.

The fact of the matter is, Black Panther is a great film because it is a well-executed, well-acted, heartfelt genuine film – that’s all.

The film follows T’Challa who returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to become king, but when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.

One of the first elements that draw attention is the film’s beautiful color palette which is chock full of vibrant African colors, patterns and ultimately captures the African tradition and weaves it throughout the film’s visual landscape and narrative.

Veteran costume designer Ruth Carter’s designs are immersed in the African custom while reflecting the fantastical elements inherent to the mysterious country and culture.

On a visual level, the film is the epitome of an epic, transcending every Marvel film that has come before: from landscapes to costumes, colors, and cinematography.

Ryan Coogler ensures that his paw-prints are all over the film with many of his now established cinematic language clear in Black Panther, which is another first in the MCU.

Utilizing his signature long takes, and a hand-held camera, Coogler enhances the Marvel experience by truly placing the audience in the middle of the action taking place.

However, some of the CGI work in some of the fight sequences, and the warrior rhinos was noticeable and felt a bit like watching a computer animation film – this may have been an effect of budgetary purposes due to the film’s high production value.

The second most powerful element in the film was its narrative.

Taking on narrative beats that are more akin to Greek Mythology and Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey than typical superhero tale, Black Panther again breaks out of the formula that its predecessors had established.

It trades in two-dimensional heroes and villains, global threats, and rushed weighty moments, with complex characters, focused inner threats, and earns every beat it delivers whether it be a laugh, a tear, or a whoop of excitement.

Yet some of the ideologies within the film to cater to the globalist, let’s all join hands and sing Kumbaya mentality, which is fine in a feature film, but much more complicated in real life.

The dialogue smooth and fun also uses African dialects to enrich and ground the film in the world of Wakanda, though two or three lines did refer to real world YouTube jokes (the “what are those” moment) and political situations (refugees and barriers) which in a way is a bit jarring.

Xhosa, one of the official languages of South Africa, was the language of the fictional Wakanda and subsequently, the Xhosa culture lent itself as a touchstone to the Wakandan citizenry.

The decision behind the language choice was made during the filming of Captain America: Civil War, when celebrated South African actor John Kani, who portrayed King T’Chaka, used his native accent and Chadwick Boseman who plays T’Challa, in turn, picked it up.

Building off of that, the film’s cast is then given enough material to truly dig deep into their performances.

This leads to the third powerful element: Black Panther has one of the best performances from an all-star cast ensemble in a Marvel film.

Both Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan carry the film as protagonist and antagonist, respectively, and give it their all – Boseman as the tortured new ruler of Wakanda, and Jordan as the revolutionary violence prone forgotten son of Wakanda.

The score, a team effort from Kendrick Lamar and Ludwig Goransson, is a vivid audible masterpiece due to its fusion of African culture and instruments.

Overall, the film is a much more than a super-hero film. It is a film about family, duty, and country. Black Panther is a most-welcomed new direction for the MCU and does bring a new level of excitement for the new entries to come.

Black Panther is most definitely an above-average superhero film, but does it deserve the "universal acclaim" that it has received from critics? In my humble opinion, no.

The strongest point of the film is in its story. Although all the twists and turns it takes are thoroughly predictable, the political tensions and personal vendettas make for more than enough drama and action to keep viewers engaged for the over two-hour runtime.

The performances are all great, as the cast consists of actors who have proven themselves to be beyond capable time and time again. They are equally matched by a solid script that makes for a fast-paced, fun film. That being said, while the acting and dialogue are good, nothing really stands out to make it memorable. In the sense of these things, it not much different than whatever else Marvel has to offer.

The weakest part of the film is in the visuals. Once again, while perfectly fine and suitable, there is nothing that has not been seen before. We have seen the CGI cities, the advanced aircraft, the alien weaponry, etc. many times before. And in addition to this, the fight sequences are disappointingly dull. There are a couple of cool surprises here and there, but the climax feels like it just sort of comes and goes in an utterly predictable fashion.

Black Panther is certainly enjoyable and certainly worth a viewing, but it's not a film that I was incredibly excited to discuss after seeing it and it hasn't really stuck with me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Too bad that METACRITIC does not have review standards because the online trolls are out in force for this film. Although not quite perfect, 'Black Panther' is a certain game changer for Marvel Studio's future productions. Black Panther is a super hero film that was long overdue with a mostly all black cast and a structure that superbly portrays black African culture of the past, present, future, and the world of African myth. There is plenty of action for fans of fights, magic, and car chases, but there is also a lot fo exposition for those of us who like to think as well. It is the thoughtful script that should stick with you long after the action fades from your memory. A repeat viewing is almost a necessity to absorb the conflicting views of the 2 sides of the disagreement between the two factions of the royalty of Wakanda who see the role of the advanced civilization of Wakanda very differently. The film leaves out a lot of the plot elements and characters that the old Black Panther comic had but that should not bother most viewers. This film is still a stunning achievement by Marvel and certainly changes the studio's status among its peers as a major player in the business of film making.
My only real disappointment are the action sequences, which though well made, are somewhat too fast, too quickly edited, and too confusing for these tired aged eyes.

I truly and honestly believe that movies with all black cast should not be centered around money, sex, drugs, slavery and gang violence. That was the vibe I was getting in the beginning, however as I sat back and let it all sink in I was astounded at the way we as a black race was portrayed. Just walking in to the AMC theaters in Tallahassee, Florida on fan night, I saw all black who had shopped at black owned stores for their Dashiki's and Ankhs this really put a smile on my face. It opened up so many conversations were movie goers, black movie goers were stating that if they had this much variety in the movies that they wouldn't resort to watching Madea Plays and 12 years a slave or even Snow in the Bluff. I hope the directors and writers are paying attention to their audience. With the movie itself I give it a 10 due to its creativeness of the villain and humor. There wasn't a moment in the film where I wasn't fully invested, my only problem with film is that there weren't that many African Americans from the states with feature roles and spot light.
To conclude, it is a must see for all and an eye opener of how prosperous the black community could be if we all work together. Wakanda Forever!

As good points: The comedy is present in the film, but it's not the principal aspect like it was in Thor: Ragnarok. Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), the villain has a lot of presence and his motivations are very realistic. Also, Ulisses Klaw (Andy Serkis), Shuri (Letitia Wright) the Agent Ross (Martin Freeman) and General Okoye (Danai Gurira) have their own special moments. Despite some CGI issues that I saw, the special effects for Wakanda or the Shuri's toys are really immersive and enjoyable. The best point of the film, as a lover of Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore...is the soundtrak which sounded really good.
Negative points: Well, I'll start with T'chala (Chadwick Boseman). He was great as Black Panther, but sometimes I had the sensation that he was overacting.
Aswell, as I said before, some CGI moments were to low for what we are used to in the MCU. And for the last, sometimes the rythm of the film is a bit slow, not enought to get bored, but enought to realize it.

Overall a fantastic movie, I had a great time with it and is definitely intriguing enough to be rewatched several times due its vibrance of colour and music which service the plot seamlessly. I would definitely recommend watching the film even if you aren’t a Marvel fan as it’s themes are something that is culturally relevant in today’s society and also it’s villian is relatable in his motives which makes a change to the generic villains Marvel has put out in past films! I can't identify with the characters on the screen because they're black, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the movie. It's a visual feast and the villain is portrayed greatly, whose motives and actions are actually somewhat believable and to a degree justified. I'm assuming a lot of the negative reviews are because the cast is 95% black.... I mean really? WHy wouldn't it be? These are the kinds of things in this day and age people bring up and get all offended about. The story takes place in Africa, and it's main hero is black, what would you expect? I loved the movie, it was entertaining, the villain was done well, and the underlying political message wasn't shoved down our throats, it wasn't screaming for attention but it wasn't going unnoticed. Considering that racism is still rampant in our society I feel as though this movie was needed. The director did a fine job with balancing the two. Expand

Jordan) who he will come up against as the movie progresses.Noteworthy are Production Designer Hannah Beachler’s lavish Wakanda set and Rachel Morrison’s sweeping cinematography of the fictional country’s landscape.Moreso Ruth E. Carter’s richly colourful costume design for the movie’s characters including T’Challa’s nicely embroidered Kaftan from northern Nigeria with cuffs made from Ghana’s Kente cloth and Ramonda (Angela Bassett), T’Challa’s Mother’s South African-themed outfits. The coronation ceremonies were unnecessary and off-putting.The African accents used in the movie are of two types; the very poor, used by Boseman, in portraying T’Challa, and Forest Whittaker, Sterling K. Brown and Daniel Kaluuya in their respective portrayals of the characters Zuri, N’Jobu and W’Kabi. Then there are the better sounding and convincing accents of Letitia Wright as Shuri, T’Challa’s tech geek sister, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, as well as John Kani and his son, Atandwa who play the older and younger T’Chaka, respectively. The standout performances are from Wright in her role as the excellent comedic foil to T’Challa and Gurira’s portrayal of the steely tough Okoye who commands the Palace Guard. All said, Black Panther is a job well done by Director Ryan Coogler, and a bold statement on black identity, history and ingenuity for which Marvel must be commended. Expand
