Bleak with a weak plot - I feel like I wasted 2 hours watching this. I get the sense it was supposed to be a statement piece. If the intent of the film was to depress me and feel like I wasted time - mission accomplished.

The assignment is to transport an important package thru enemy territory to a place where it can be used to end the war. She and 5 others set out skating across the frozen Swedish archipelago. Of course, their trek is filled with all manner of peril, most of which is well-staged. Even so, the "cold" style prevents any genuine thrills. Expand

The plot is whisper-thin, and while it seems like there might be some expansion or explanation that adds depth or interest to the story, this never happens. The acting overall is good, but the thin slices of character each actor gets do not provide much substance. Noomi Rapace is very good, but she's done this role before (Millenium series and Prometheus). It's not a terrible movie, but there are others in the genre that do it better and deliver more. I'm left wondering both, "Why did they make this movie?" and also "Why did I watch it?" Expand

Noomi Rapace does not usually disappoint, but her choice of roles, or rather the ones she is offered and accepts, are not usually satisfactory.

Under the Netflix banner, Black Crab has every one of the familiar and tendentious characteristics of any dystopian thriller.
That doesn't make for a good feeling, but the film grabs you in its first 20 minutes because you want to make sense of what you're watching. But once the tone is set, the bland and uniform narrative reveals a barely functional action thriller.

If there's anything positive to mention about this film, it's the tone, which is quite bleak, and that some of its scenes are quite well composed. Surprising for a first-time director.

Now, the mission that drives this story is very weak, to be honest. Mostly because its focus on survival lacks perspective. Everyone involved is disposable. The only character that matters is Rapace's and she the only one with a story arc, and it's barely sustained by the excessive length.
So from there you can kiss the tension goodbye, you know she has to make it to the end because she is the face of the film.

By Netflix standards it will do more than enough for its subscribers.
At this point we already know how disposable these kinds of films are, regardless of the small amount of interest and entertainment they may generate on the weekend they are released.

"The Dirty (Half) Dozen" and "Mother Courage", half action and half survival movie, feature debut by this Swedish director, comes from oblivion and falls back into it.

Its not terrible, and has some really nice atmosphere and style, but u don't get to care much for the characters, dialogue wasn’t great at times and the plot felt kinda dull for most of it, as the characters motives weren’t really fleshed outIts not terrible, and has some really nice atmosphere and style, but u don't get to care much for the characters, dialogue wasn’t great at times and the plot felt kinda dull for most of it, as the characters motives weren’t really fleshed out enough Expand
