Very special and deserving film that shows us how in a world full of monsters you are willing to do anything to save the people you love. A long and heartbreaking journey accompanied by an atmosphere of wonderful and constant tension.

A threat is more scary when you don't know what is and can't see it. Bird Box demonstrates this fantastically by showing nearly nothing. Sandra Bullock delivers a stunning performance, as do the rest of the top tier cast. On the other hand, the extras or smaller characters come across as amateurs and do really look sub par by comparison the the leads.

The story is delivered in a back and forth way ie. Present, then flashbacks. While this style is a bit clichéd for this genre, it works. Pacing on the other hand is very slow and does drag on and on frequently throughout the movie.

Overall:
An okay movie that is really hampered by its very slow burn. If you don't mind a slow paced thriller/horror, then you'll likely love it. If you prefer more action, then you'll likely find it a bit boring.

Five years later, Malorie Hayes and two young children, head down a dangerous river hoping to reach a safe location in order to start living a more ‘normal’ life again.

Whilst it never quite reaches true ‘classic’ status, Birdbox is a tense thriller/horror movie featuring some good performances (particularly from Sandra Bullock) that will entertain most viewers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Birdbox was a film that I was really excited about. I had heard a fair bit of gossip about it before hearing from a friend who does not like horror at all that it's supposed to be really scary. So, I figured if my horror hating friend has even heard of this film, then in must be worth a watch.

I sat down with some snacks and was ready to stick into the something I had high expectations for. And naturally, I got into it, as any horror fan would do when it comes to a new film. New stories, new monsters, demons, scares, it's all what we horror fans are after.

Unfortunately, Bird Box didn't deliver. I will confess, I was hooked through the first half of the story. The start is what gets you, where this unseen force has the terrifying power to make people commit suicide, and no matter where they are, they will find the nearest way to do it. So be warned, if you're not capable of handling a bit of heavy themes, you'll see people throw themselves out of windows, burn themselves alive, shoot themselves. I will commend the film for not holding back on the details.

But going back to this unseen force, you're left wandering for a long while just what could it be. A has in the air, a chemical in the water, some kind of new insanity inflicting virus? Perhaps it's a film that'll finally have a prion as the scary thing. But no. We literally are just told it's something that no one can explain, and once you see it, you either die, or you become someone who's insane who then works to force others to see the unseeable horror.

As for these insane people who force others to look upon whatever it is, they play the part as the secondary bad... thing. So to speak. And it's with one of them that the film hits its most interesting and exciting part.

During the roughly half way point of the film, we have a stranger banging on our survivors door in their fortified home that they've blocked off. They've already lost a few of their survivor friends by this point, but oh well, things seem to be going well. But this stranger who begs them to let him in, he almost falls victim to the unseen force.

He's eventually let in, and you're convinced that he's just another survivor like the others. It's in this hour our main heroine and another girl go into labour and begin birthing their babies.

As this is all happening on the second floor, our new friend, the stranger, starts to take drawings out of his case he was carrying with him. It's here we get a good look at his eyes, and see they just do not look anywhere normal at all. Then after that, we see what he's been drawing.

I absolutely loved what I saw. Very wonderfully done and highly detailed penciled horrors. Honestly, I took one look at the drawings as our new mad friend began to sketch out another one, laying the others out around him. It seemed that those who survived looking at the unseen force and only went mad, not killing themselves, knew what they looked like, and this intruder was drawing them as he had become obsessed with them.

I honestly looked at them and felt like this film was heading into Lovecraftian territory. Which just pumped my excitement up to eleven. They looked so very eldritch like. Creatures like Great Old Ones from the H.P. Lovecraft mythos. It was so, so exciting for me.

But sadly, this scene is the only time we see them. Or even anything about them.

The film continues on after this part, where sadly we see our main heroine and her love interest surviving both the awesome looking demonic creatures, who for some reason are invisible, and the crazies who work for said demon forces.

Love interest guy dies, which is a bit of a classic move for these kinds of films. And she's left looking after the boy and the girl who have grown a few years by this point. And they're literally named boy and girl. Something to do with the idea that Sandra Bullock's character doesn't give them names to help prevent her getting too attached to them in case they die. Which really doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it, because taking care of kids is, well, taking care of kids. It requires a lot of care from the get go.

The film moves on and ends in a rather anti-climatic way. The happy part being that they no longer have to wear blindfolds, or go down rivers in boats with them on, or carry birds in a box around, or do anything. Boy and girl get their own names after six or so years without one, and it seems like a happy ending. Sort of.

I mean, if you look at it, yes they're in a safe place and a pretty location, but they can never leave the enclosed gardens they now live in ever again since these demons seem to be an eternal force in the world now.

It's a fascinating new horror world, I cannot lie. The concept is interesting and the idea behind these apparant demons is the most exciting part, but unfortunately, Bird Box doesn't do anything clever with the one part it has going good for it. The horror.

5/10. Worth one watch.

It may not be the most original feature, nor does the solution suggest any improvement in the world future, but we are talking about an individualistic project, right? When Malorie calms down, the film calms down too, and sees no need to move on. The direction turns a global catastrophe into an intimate event, an impulse for the sad woman to overcome her trauma, to reconcile with the maternal instinct and find happiness. Maybe a few billion human beings will be sacrificed along the way, but you can't make lemonade without squeezing a few lemons, right? For the final smile of Sandra Bullock and the sense of peace explored by the framing and the sound, the martyrdom was worth it. Expand

Strong beginning, weak end part.

The mysterious and threatening is really well staged at the beginning of the film and creates an oppressive atmosphere. Sandra Bullock knows how to convince here.

Towards the middle, the film reaches its climax and then loses its impact significantly. Unfortunately, towards the end, typical situations are used (stumbling over a branch, etc.) which is simply unnecessary and makes the film plunge into insignificance.

Therefore, one can say that the film is okay for a Netflix evening, but nothing more, the courage is simply missing to really dare something new.

I guess I fell behind, but I gotta say, I'm kinda glad that Sandra Bullock is returning to her more serious, dramatic roles because some of those stupid comedies that she did in the late '90's and the 2000's did absolutely nothing for her. BIRD BOX was nothing earth shattering, but I suppose it was unique in it's own special way. The writer's seemed to be "reaching for a plot," but something about it was executed sufficiently enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A lot of this movie works. I don't mind that we never actually see whatever it is the characters are seeing. It helps the imagination creating those images by simply hearing what they utter when they see it. And that sort of turns it into a ghost story. Which I really like. I love it when things are moving around by themselves as if a poltergeist grabbed it.
I understand that this movie is more about Malorie's personal journey than it is about the forces at play. And it portrays that well - well-acted performance from Bullock. But it does make the movie feel lackluster in explaining whatever the phenomenon is. You keep expecting things to conclude or be explained. The things they introduce that are a certain way "just because". All we get is the vague explanation from that dude who did "internet research" on a similar topic.

If you can go in not expecting things to be explained, there's a lot to be enjoyed in the characters and personal journey. Enough to keep me interested. But I would have loved the other things to have been concluded better.

A badly written rip off of "A Quiet Place"
The acting is somewhat serviceable but the whole "everything in this movie" is so unbearable to watch.

Everything that's happening is very difficult to digest.
The only way to be able to enjoy this movie to a certain level at least, it's that you have to turn off every single brain cell you have. Because the plot is so *eugh*

I do like how it was shot and a few elements, in the beginning, were fine?
But after that, it's just a train going downhill onto the road of nothingness as the drivers are probably blindfolded.

The actors in the movie needed their paycheck and this was an easy cash grab. I mean seriously, some characters pop up and then they just leave or die in the most weirdish ways possible.
I can hardly recommend this to anyone.
Look out for a Quiet Place, it's the same thing but done good.

+ Nice to look at
+ Some scenes are okay
+ The acting is ok and horrible

- Horrible plotline
- Boring ideas
- Characters act without any sort of logic
- Forced character progression and scene to scene development for no reason other than to mess themselves up
- Just a bad movie overall
- Give back my time

I don't recommend this to anyone.

Their **** The thing that urks me the most about this movie is that it has such an amazing premise but it just ****s on it by making it the most generic **** Instead of having an interesting plot, its just the generic "survivors are trapped inside house and have to learn to get along" trope. The way the monster is portrayed is really lame, like, could you have not come up with anything more interesting than "The monster makes leaves float for no reason" and "Spooky whispering lol" Also, the weird cultists were pretty lame. The worst part is that I had to watch it twice because I was talking about it with my friends but they hadn't seen it so I had to watch it with them.

I think that's about all I have to say. The characters are all stupid idiots with a death wish, The script is stupid, The camera is bland, the premise is wasted, and its just lame. Too me, it seems like the only reason people like this movie is because of the premise, which is really sad because this movie is getting way more praise then it will ever deserve?. Tbh, the only things I can even praise the movie about is the fact that they never show the monster. If they showed the monster, it would just ruined the monster because the monster wouldn't really be mysterious anymore.

Also, Sandra Bollocks face has had so much plastic surgery that shes really hard to look at
Im not even sure if shes human, she looks like a mole person

I didn't know anything about the movie or heard anything about it prior to watching it. I had a couple hours free and noticed that sandra bullock was featured in the decent trailer so I decided to give it a watch. This film is a good and hearty thriller, it does draw a lot of parallels with other films of the same genre but has enough character to make it original. The film manages to create an incredible sense of unease and unpredicatbility that is key to the success of a thriller, so much so that I felt exhausted when it was over. The acting was good with some characters and character plots similar to the walking dead (back when that show was good). The story jumps about a lot to different times and locations which is quite annoying at the start when you just want the film to progress. Quite surprising though was he themes explored in the film and was actually quite successful in conveying emotion. The story does follow a typical apocalypse narrative so you find yourself thinking to yourself "when are these people going to argue about having to go out and get supplies" and sure enough they do. Some charcters are just there to make you feel sorry for them and their innocence, which makes it obvious they are going to get killed off. Sarah Paulson featured quite briefly in the film but I thought she could have offered more to the film. John Malkovic was ok, I think he is well rehearsed on playing a short tempered, problematic character. Sandra Bullock's performance was ok, she delivered lines in her usual tone but has something about her that makes her acting quite enjoyable to watch.

Overall, I think this movie will be enjoyable for those who enjoy thrillers and for those who just happen to stumble upon it themselves without being influenced by the recent viral spread of this movie with people running about with blinfolds on, I mean the promotion of this ovie was so awkward I half expected Joan Crawford to come running in swinning a fake axe.

We see world of silly humans brought to its knees by the sudden onslaught of mass death brought about by a group of unseen beings which once 'seen', drive anyone who makes eye contact with said entity to either immediately commit suicide or enter some sort of psychosis where they force others to look at the entity and thus kill themselves.

The cast do an okay job with this poorly conceived idea, yet for me its the crisis-logic-decision making of its characters that took me out of being truly immersed in the movie.... The typical horror tropes are here with many contrived 'survivor group' silly death/s. In combination with the rather lackluster cinematography and limited soundscape this makes Bird Box a weaker than average horror/mystery/scifi outing. In terms of a modern contemporary, World War Z achieves much of what this film sets out to do to a far higher standard in my opinion.

The movie falls apart under any serious scrutiny, and it's honestly just a rip-off of "A Quiet Place" but it is enjoyable in spite of it's straight-to-TV-movie production value. But the ending just blows up the entire movie, I mean is it even an ending? Should we expect a sequel? So what you're telling me is that I just watched an hour and a half of people arguing, collecting food, debating about who to let in or not, and babies. Talk about an ending that ruins an entire movie. Ending is a 1 star but Bullock and the want to see what happens prevents this from being that 1 star. It's somewhat recommended, it's fun and compelling enough I guess. Expand

These are not people who care about the art of cinema, but middle-to-upper class modern, trendy millennials and/or people who have a fetish of playing a streaming service in the background while having sexual intercourse because, for some reason, that is cool--"Netflix and chill" anyone?

So, in comes "Birdbox" directed by Susanne Bier. This follows the perfect recipe for satisfying the mass. It is a shallow, easy-to-follow post-apocalyptic survival flick but with a twist so that after watching it, the entitled pretentious viewers can again pat themselves on the back and think they are knowledgeable about the art just because they enjoyed a film so laughingly trying to be deep, that the evil entities are not even shown. Ever! "Wow! What an abstract avant-garde piece of revolutionary art"--tweets Carol, from her iPhone, feeling pretty good about herself. But in truth, this is nothing more than Jackass (except not funny).

There is no insight into anything. Those presences causing everyone suicide are never revealed to us, nor they are mentioned. This would be fine, if the film would actually do something with this mystery. Instead, it tells us that it is so in-depth, so complex, so multi-layered that dude, like, we won't even show them, but wait not even mention them, and you know the two kids in the film? They have no name--they are simply called "boy" and "girl". "This is something else"--says Carol; "This is a shameless cash-grab"--I say while struggling to shake-off the modernist cringe.

Every single one of these characters is as shallow as he or she can be and every single interaction is linear and boring; not to even mention the predictability of the whole thing. For its entire run-time, I was waiting for each character to inevitably die. This film is about as complex as a classic zombie-horror flick, except there they actually put the effort into the zombies, while here they do nothing and just put some lazy pretentious mumbo-jumbo.

In the end, what makes this a revolting film (if I could even call it that) is the fact that I do not think this shallowness is unintentional. Netflix is all about business, and here they completely killed the art form and, like the creatures in the film, replaced it with a populous void. Profitable, but disgusting.

It is a huge hit that even leads to various memes and dangerous attempts to emulate the characters in the film. Folks....driving a car while being blindfolded is not recommended in any situation. Beside the fact, I found this film equal in quality to its 'twin': The Quiet Place. While the latter received heaps of praise, both films share a similar premise and equally thrilling experience. Both are not genre changing, Oscar breaking flicks or took you into a deeper sense of dread, such as the excellent Hereditary. In this case, well suited to be watched while eating your popcorn at home. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Take off your blindfolds for this review: The memes have run wild with images from this new Netflix thriller. Sandra Bullock is our hero and begins the movie blindfolded, leading 2 small children, also blindfolded, out into the woods and down into a hidden canoe to forge the river. Her demands are clear “..under no circumstance are you allowed to take off your blindfold. If I find that you have, I will hurt you.”, and she is not kidding. We jump back 5 years and learn how this land of blindfolds comes to be. Sandra, Malorie, is a bit of a loner artist, who is pregnant and going to a doctor’s appointment with her sister, Jessica, played by Sarah Paulson. Everything is fine until people everywhere begin committing suicide, for no apparent reason. Jessica is driving Malorie home when she too becomes overtaken with whatever this force is, her face turns to sadness, and crashes the car. When that doesn’t do that trick, she jumps in front of a moving garbage truck. Something terrible must be in the air. If you see “it” you will commit suicide. Jumping ahead again 5 years, the story continues through the lives of Malorie, her two children, and her significant other, Tom. It follows their struggles and their perseverance to survive in this new world. She also carries along with her two pet canaries that possess the ability to sense the dark presence. With a powerful M. Night Shayamalan composition, this movie makes you cling to the unknown. It surrounds the viewer with an overwhelming sense of anxiety like you are blindfolded yourself, leaving you gripping your seat for the next scene. How could this possibly end up, is there any hope? Who strives in an environment where sight is outlawed – the blind. However, there may also be outlaws that bring vision to the darkness. Best names for children: boy and girl – no gender equality here. Scariest non-villain: Douglas – played by the talented John Malkovich, but what a douche. Best outcome from this movie – Bird Box Challenges! Overall grade: A. No need to hide behind a blindfold here, this was entertaining Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just don't look! The idea that you can only pass an adventure with blindfolds, I still find original! Any unknown force, lets people drive mad. So they commit suicide. No one knows where it comes from and how to fight it. Pregnant Sandra Bullock can barricade herself into a house with a few other, few survivors. Interpersonal drama then plays out and you can't trust anyone anymore. For sure, it's a bit reminiscent of M. Night Shyamalan's work The Happening. The unknown force is not declared in great detail either. It's just there. The story is rather exciting, like the typical meeting of different people and how they have to come to terms. The only antidote is: Just don't look! Add to that the unique trip in a small boat with children who have all attracted the blindfolds. This is pure excitement and horror! I mean, how are we going to behave? The actors are heavily selected. Especially Bullock's counterpart part John Malkovich. Malkovich already has a tremendous screen presence.
The effects are simple and only targeted. Director Susanne Bier prefers to keep the focus on her performers rather than the strained disasters. Unfortunately, the conclusion remains open: You don't know how to contain the power. Are Bullock and the other survivors the only ones who had adopted the Blindekuh method? Why can the force affect people, even through the computer screen, but not through an open fireplace? Conclusion: An exciting and captivating story that has more interpersonal dimensions than on effects

The film is not without its effective set piecesManipulative, shallow, and thoroughly unpleasant, 'Bird Box' takes a deeply unsettling premise and filters it through a lazy story filled with cliched situations and one-dimensional characters. The film is not without its effective set pieces and suspenseful moments, but sustaining that suspense with the building threat of seeing two children commit suicide just makes the entire film seem cheap and exploitative. Rather than embrace the tawdry 'B-movie' shocks bubbling beneath the surface, the director and cast instead insist on treating the material like they're in a prestige pic while never finding the emotional heart, psychological depth, or cultural significance of its central premise. Because of this jarring disconnect between tone and material, the film fails to work as a literary art film or as a genre thriller. Ignore the anonymous voices online telling you you have to see this movie to understand the phenomenon. I recommend taking the advice of the movie itself and keeping your blindfold on. Expand

You know that bias where even if a product like Insatiable,Bright or...well,Bird Box fails miserably at being a piece of media, everyone just straight loves it for no reason other than “you critics are just mean”? Because, after the 30 minute mark of explaining the concept,Bird Box did just what Jurassic World 2 did to my inner film fanatic soul. It p****d the hell outta me,this time more than JW...And this isn’t a franchise movie, not even a Universal movie at that. This is made by Netflix, whose social media I hate with a burning passion, and rarely makes a great movie (think Okja or Roma),because they’re so busy making teen garbage (with exceptions like Stranger Things and the Marvel TV Shows) that, while they appeal to that demographic successfully, they’ll always miss two things that make a movie or TV Show good, not so good or bad. “Entertainment” and “an interesting PLOT”.
And Bird Box doesn’t have that. It’s a soulless cash-in on A Quiet Place that fails at being what they’re aiming for or,even worse, lacks anything worth of its “Genre”. This is listed as a Horror movie and man,oh man, does it not show anything worth of the Horror. Not even the kills are fantastic. This movie is so bad,It’ll instantly kill your brain cells because they were busy doing something else.
But let’s start at the beginning.
The acting is probably the biggest highlight of the movie. Surprises are here and there, since I only knew Sandra bullock was in it. Well, surprise surprise,John Malkovich,Rosa Salazar and Trevante Rhodes also appear in here and they’re all pretty good! Especially Malkovich and Bullock, who are trying to make us care about everything coming from a stupid script.
A script full of dumb choices, situations being finished in no time (even faster than The LEGO Movie,a great movie with a fast story),a presentation that fails with a snap of the fingers, and 2 moments where Venom now feels like a fantastic script (The quote “Wow. Such Venom…”,the car flipping at the 11 minute mark and the eyes being weird when they’re “infected” by this monster). Speaking of the monster...Uhh...Where’s the monster? Do I have to believe about this floating fart who infects people in killing themselves? Yeah, that’s actually dumb for a script that wants to be taken super seriously.
Oh,and there are kids in here, and they’re even worse than Claire from a bad but miles better movie than this (Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom). Worse in the sense that they don’t even act. They’re standing there like pieces of wood,or even rocks.
The technical aspect is also really bad. The cinematography feels like a great YouTube video and rarely does it feel like a cinematic presentation. The score feels like a great mix of nothingness, horrible synthy vibes and a track that a composer like Junkie XL would cry from disappointment. And to finish everything, the editing is Justice League level bad, where even the little things fail at connecting the dots (where in JL i was the gun thing,in Bird Box it’s a person in a bedroom looking at another person, then we cut to the same person, only her head is looking to the closed window).
GOOD GRAVY GOD,this movie made me angry. Bird Box made me hate Netflix as a studio more than Universal just because of how the platform’s users act IN IT. I don’t care if you love Bright,it’s just an aggressive 4/10. I don’t care about Insatiable,it’s a dumb show with nothing special that makes the Catwoman movie look like The Dark Knight. Stop raving about Bird Box,you dumb TNTs. It’s a great Asylum rip-off (or cash-in) of A Quiet Place that has nothing special and is just there to please some guy who wants their brain to be rotten. But yeah, dislike this review, because your opinion will be better than mine for all the wrong reasons. I hope you have a future filled to the brim with classics such as Fifty Shades,Twilight,Bird Box etc. and “Have a nice life” (-Venom)

You need to see the results to believe them, it's not enough to hear about it. But once you see them - you kill yourself, literally, because you simply cannot live in a world were Trump is the president. So, what do the leftists do? They hide in their homes. And when they need to go out, they cover their eyes with blindfolds. Their enemies are usual leftist enemies - rednecks and other residents of southern states, by their looks and accents. Oh, and there's also 50 years old Sandra Bullock dreaming about making it out with a black guy 20 years younger. And two stupid kids that ought to grow up in a world that is immensely dangerous, but acting as your regular kids that went out on a field trip with their mommy.

And the ending isn't cheesy as much as it's just an end of a journey. Expand

A decent thriller that some people are casting as a horror movie, whilst it contains some horror elements I did not find it all scary and instead found it a more compelling human tale of loss, life and acceptance.

To Confront The Demons.

Bird Box

Bier's sci-fi horror is neither fictitious enough to be a sci-fi nor scary enough to be a horror, settling for a qualifying score, it is arguably a decent family drama. As rich and alluring the concept is, its implementation is equally disappointing. Ticking for more than two hours, if lopped off the over chewed material, their barely resides a worthy content of an hour. And it is without a question, the equation between Bullocks and her kids, which no matter how manipulative, rumbles you down with every possible impressive trick. And to balance the gained head start, it shucks down the sincerity for a complex drama by overstuffing it with multiple and eventually meaningless characters, and still the content never grows complex or even husky.

The mythological themed back story where this surviving spirit thrives upon, is left untouched and never is given a thorough explanation. In fact, even that too would have worked, if they would have sculpted the usual "horror" montage clips with an uncertainty kept alive in the screen to draw out the chills and thrills. Addition to that, the primary weakness of it, is the intangible tone which comes from the knack of creating a calculatively created multiple genre film, evidently in order to do so, it doesn't make much sense; the second act where the jealousy and bickering gets in, the admirably attempted thriller isn't just convincing enough to breed the crisp out of it.

The primary relationship of Bullocks and Rhodes is way too chalky to bubble up the tenderness it was aspired to have. With loftiness in conversation and a tiny bit of practicality, there is very less illumination in characters for us to care for them. As mentioned before, the ethical challenges that Bullocks is put upfront to, especially the boat sequences are even though flawed, thoroughly competent and engaging drama.

On terms of performance, Bullock makes sure she is the overprotective mother in every frame. Whether it is to care for someone in a supermarket or in a house shared with a stranger or in a boat sailing blindly over the river. In fact, the story itself offers a lot of "Sophie's Choice" to rumble the viewers and fiddle with them emotionally. Malkovich as the practical and speculative supporter and a skeptical stranger, gets his moment to stand off. With a stereotypical content sized as a sticky note, the other cast is as anticipated, but the disappointment would be Rhodes who as a performer might have potential but as a character, well, not so much.

There are few sequences where the storytelling takes an uncalled detour like an intimate scene between Bullock and Rhodes, straining the threads on the boat sequences and over ridden emotions. On the other hand, the world at a critical stage as such is created with three dimensional perspective where even their too, are encouraging activities for the destruction which is imputed in narration smoothly. Bird Box, the ultimate seesaw of the discussion on where it lies, as an art there is a very little to work upon but as far as entertainment is concerned, it can be categorized as a guilty pleasure.

This movie had so much potential, and it was totally wasted. First act looked promising, but after that you start to lose the connection with the movie characters. Story definitely not developed enough.
Too bad...

It's well acted, and shot beautifully, the score by Trent Reznor is perfect. I only had few minor issues, the ending felt really flat to me, without spoiling it just did not pay off the way I felt it should have, it kind of faded away.. the other thing was the actress the played Olympia.. ok all the other actors were fantastic and maybe that was why she stuck out, but she was hands down the weakest actor / actress and it showed.. there was times when she fighting back a smile almost when she should be sad and delivered lines poorly. That said this movie is a really fun thriller / semi horror film that has a great feel to it. Expand

I read the book of bird box and I liked it very much and I've finished about a week or something.
I was hoping to hear that this film was filmed later and then heard that it was filmed.Sandra bullockda starring me more but even for that time I thought Sandra Bullock was a little big in this role.
When I watched the film, I saw it change a bit as usual. The movie takes 2 hours and it's hard to fit a big book in 2 hours. So in my opinion if I actually had a series rather than making movies I think it would be more like and really cool.Had a very long and immersive story for the film.In fact, a universe like TWD does more people in the world.or if it would be 3 series, but this would be risky in terms of viewing.
I did not love the film because I read the book but someone not reading the book maybe like this film.I don't find it bad again but it wasn't very good. So they could transfer this perfect scenario to the longer-term audience, and we would be in this universe for longer.
If we go to acting, the majority is good, I just want to say.
Trevante Rhodes didn't like the acting of among them was the most amateur
Sandra Bullock was old for this role

If Sandra Bullock wasn't written next to the title, no one would see it. Again, Hollywood is trying to snatch some cash by riding the waves of the latest favourite. (In this case, The Quiet Place)

..the one knock I will log is that I wish the ending finally showed us what the monsters looked like..yeah OK I realize the idea was it is whatever your own personal individual worst fear is..but still let see what Sandra's was..I think they could've budgeted for a lil Monster CGI at that point.

Good use of the color blue on sandra bullock. the birds in the box and the human characters. a bit weird at certain points of the movie when malorie acted a bit out of her character by standing up for others when she was not good at making human connections.

Unfortunately, I saw the trailers and that has ruined some of the movie for me. The second half was also not as good as the first half. I particularly didnt enjoy last 15mins, with the characters just wandering off into different directions. The ending reminded me of the babadook which babadook did a much better job. I was also very puzzled as to how 2 of the characters were not given proper names at the beginning...

This is one of the stupidest and most boring movies I have ever seen in 2018. The plot was just stupid, I mean a virus that can affect you and make you suicide once you look. I give it 3 for the effort and hard work put on this.

Metaphor being - is that people are too afraid to face their own fears and sadness within , they rather just blow their brains out or live in blindness. Viewers who only see this movie as a "horror/thriller flick" and wait for some monster to jump scare them , are sad individuals indeed, this movie has much more depth than just some "wind trying to kill them". The entire movie is good but it doesnt have and END. They should have explained what was that "thing" that make people suicide. I was going to review it with 9 stars but the lack of an end made me grade it 7, just because it was a terrible mistake.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was great! Just wish it explained more about the "creature" how it came to be and how the people were going to fix/manage to fix things. Why some could go around seeing without killing themselves and others would have to kill themselves immediately. The ending was okay, just wished it elaborated more. Possibly, I might have to re-watch movie again to understand better. Still, overall I really enjoyed the movie! Expand
