Slapstick is popular in France.

There was a lot of good acting talent in this film - but, slapstick just makes it seem wasted to an American.

Cinematography, costumes, props and sets were very good. The style of the film was unique and interesting. The parallels of 1950's design and technology in conjunction of the future is worth thinking about. The script was topical - but, lacked depth.

I'm guessing that this film is more well received in France than the US.
