It's unrealistic, you don't buy some of the characters but the script oddly makes it work. A woman (Alice Eve) misses a 1:30 train from New York and street musician (Chris Evans) spend the night trying to help her make it back home before her husband does. They learn through out about one another and eventually find a romance between them. Corny but irresistible. Grade B- Expand

I really enjoyed this and thought the acting was terrific. I want to watch more romantic movies like this one. I thought the chemistry between the two was wonderful.

This film is excellent. Top-notch writing, entirely driven by strong characterization without contrivances. The acting is excellent, and the dialogue is believable, natural, and honest. This is not your average romcom, and it might not even qualify as a romcom at all, because although it asks many of the kinds of questions that romcoms try to ask, it answers them with far more maturity than most do. This story has themes that resonate and an ending that delivers. There are moments of the transcendent alongside moments of the awkward, and that gives the experience a ring of realism. The personal mysteries are revealed at a good pace, and the story never becomes saccharine, boring, or entirely predictable. I appreciated the good use of silence. I was occasionally annoyed by the unnecessary shakiness of the hand-held camera or the blurry focus of foreground objects, but that only happened a couple of times. This is otherwise a beautiful, thoughtful, quiet, poignant, and true character piece, and it's well worth the watching..

How did I miss it for 5 years beats me... It was so sweet and meaningful actually it kept me awake for hours after. The feeling of longing. Longing for a stranger, the meaning of moments, that will never come back, yet seem to feel so significant for the moment... having a person slide in and out of your life as sand would slip through your fingers... Precious and difficult to express in words... I would imagine critics focus on the technical side of the movie as it is impossible to miss all the warm human interaction components that seem to become more and more neglected in he everyday life. I am pleasantly surprised by how much more cool Evans turned into my eyes seeing he understands the importance of not denying emotions and cravings for them as our mind and soul become hungry in searching for the answers, lessons and experiences in life no matter how unrealistic and awkward it may seems to the eye of an observer. In the world nowadays that is becoming so alienated it is ridiculous how fake and calculated, and careful everything is in human interaction, the sweetness of this movie is in the decisions one makes in a split second just because you felt there is something in a person or a situation, like the scene where he deliberates whether to help her on not, or that almost intangible tiny little thread of seemingly nothing (that is an incredible mixture of chance, curiosity, situation driven "what do I have to lose" attitude and more) make two complete strangers actually decide to share their stories as painful and as real as they are, open up to a complete stranger and place trust into the other person developing thereby some sense of indescribable intimacy. Showing your vulnerability has always been the very thing that actually may get a person to be genuinely into you and obviously a chance to let someone see your true colors, i.e. giving them a chance to actually meet the real you. There is something so liberating in that. Moments shared that is much more than words, looks where one knows so much more is said in the things there are not being said, wistfulness of the moment that carries certain nostalgia... Anyone can relate to a situation where a person sort of flew by your life leaving you wanting more, wondering how fragile any type of human relationship is, and how a person can have such a huge impact in such a short time... What makes us allow to a stranger to impact our lives and to let them influence most intimate parts of their life and mind... This film has emotional depth hidden in the untold... You cannot possibly tell me this is not important anymore or in this world... That seems to be the total decade and tragedy in living nowadays that this kind of movie is almost mocked by the critics while terrible films like horrors or fictions are given praise simply because of possible technical diversity presented. I understood the story as a modest unimposing celebration of non-pretending in communication with others. Nick was as real and as open with all his troubles that it lead to her opening up to him and maybe even daydreaming of being with him... instead of a cold controlling husband as opposed to a sweet caring strangers who put all the attention into details, that mattered. I LOVE this movie. It is warm, nostalgic and promising. This is exactly the kind of thing I would do in real life. And actually I did such things as I love the unexpected and spontaneity in everything especial human interactions. I got off the social media as it is developing narcissistic freaks competing in who will get more likes, society that approves people practically begging for approval and mentally depending on it. Again, int he light of all that, this movie was so simple, unpretentious and just perfect. Kudos to Evans for not being afraid to show he cares for an understands something really important that unfortunately society deems redundant, irrelevant and not intriguing enough. What a world we live in. Sad really. Thank God there are people in the showbiz that seem to be able to stay normal. I bet he is a beautiful soul. I look forward to see what will he do next. Expand
