Batman and Robin is so awful its good. It is up there with Troll 2 and The Room. If you're longing for a good hard laugh, go watch it, preferably with friends who can point and laugh at Batman and Robin's nipple suits with you.

Eh... makes sense. Humans have nipples people. And sometimes they protrude thru clothes. Do any of you even watch Baywatch?? Best villain ever alert. IT'S F**KING ARNIE!!! He's a baddie for the first time since The Terminator here. Always more believable as a villain. For those pining for a bit of Bane... he's also in this! And he gets killed so it's the new one that looks dumb as he's magically brought back to life. They did the same with Joker, Two Face, Cat woman. This is the real deal folks. Accept no substitutes. This movie is a masterpiece. The actions scenes are extremely exciting and realistic, the new bat-suit makes George Clooney the most attractive Batman ever. And best of all, the humor in this movie is somehow BETTER than the 1966 Batman movie.

The movie was good, cast was made of golden people like Clooney, Thurman and Schwarzenegger. I really did not understand why no one did loved this one as much as i did. Action was fine, The scenario was excellent. But i read the critics for this movie in wikipedia and believe me, some people even think that this movie has some homosexual content in it, just because it shows the a** of Batman and Robin when they equip their armor...
It was a really good adventure if you ask me and i really enjoyed it. The only disliked thing i didn't like in this movie was some overrated one-liner cliche jokes of Schwarzenegger which if you ask me, was still ok, but sometimes was not necessary. If you are not among people who watches movies just to kill them, i think you will enjoy and won't regret this one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This film is a excellent Batman film but no a quality or average robin film his character is dreadfully underdeveloped this movie would be at at least three times better than it is if Robin had proper character development if they picked a better talent for director such as Steven Spielberg Robin's writing would be would be much better actually even spectacular but sadly Warner Brothers it's a much worse person's wreck this movie. The costumes in this movie are just amazing incredible actor Arnold Schwarzenegger noon for the popular Rocky series and his goons all wear incredible uniforms they're just fantastic nothing could beat them nothing's cooler nothing's better and now we're going to move on to the main heroes of this film they're outfits are outmatched by by none all of the details on their outfits are just amazing. Now we are moving on to the plot the plot / story of this movie is just amazing I mean it is great nothing's better nothing beats it it's definitely the best story out of any Batman movie ever now it is time to talk about Batman's development throughout the movie we learned that Batman has a bad credit card which is just excellent writing nothing is better this is way better than anything that is in worse written Batman movies like The dark Knight or the Batman. Now I'm going to talk about the villains in this movie particularly my favorite villain from this movie being his voice lines are just amazing his voice is so much better than Tom Hardy's when he played bane all those years later pain in this film looks like he's done more steroids than Barry bonds you can see the steroids running through his veins just like Barry bonds but even though his muscles are three times the size of Batman he loses just like the Pittsburgh pirates every single year my conclusion on this film is that it is a very good film but flawed like most nothing is perfect but this film comes pretty close. One of the last things I want to talk about is the hatred for this movie the people who don't like this movie are just trying to be the same person and don't have new opinions or even good opinions this movie is objectively good with its excellent story the lowest score that I would personally accept for this movie is a six because of some of its subpar character development and writing the people who would rates the movie less than that school are unintelligent morons to be honest before the internet this movie was a classic and everybody loved it but after everybody just had the same opinion on it and it makes me sad that one of the best movies ever made and one of my favorite is treated like this not allowed a movie so this level of quality and not a lot more will so I'm sad this movie does not get the respect that it deserves another reason I think people don't like this movie is that they are too poor to actually buy the movie so they have to rely on other people's opinions on crappy websites like YouTube or X I know I already said that I was on my last point but there's one last thing I needed to talk about this time the cinematography is nothing but incredible there's not a shot in this movie that looks bad or even a poor quality this movie is cinematography should be royalty with the people who are into such a thing but sadly it isn't because of the reputation of this movie crappy YouTube critics have ruined the reputation of this amazing film this is the last thing I wanted to state in this review thank you for everybody who read to this point. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Seeing because of not seeing is maybe the ultimate riddle of life. In the end, it's just another perspective of countless perspectives, but nevertheless, it's a riddle that's intriguing. The absence of sight can mean two different things; one meaning, is that there is nothing to see around one's presence, and the other meaning is that regardless of anything to see the ability to see is impossible. The second meaning seems defunct, because if the self can't see then that has to mean there's nothing present around the self to be seen. So anti is predicated on sight, meaning the absence of sight is the inability of anti.

This makes the dynamic into seeing because of the inability of anti, or the inability of ability. Batman & Robin thus becomes the ability to see because of the impossibility of ability, which obviously makes no sense. An ability is action, or movement. And therefore Batman & Robin's story of the Wayne Manor dynamics is the action of sight because of the impossibility of action, which naturally still makes no sense. On its own, the impossibility of action is apparent balance; just impossibility means error because of the presence of impossibility. When however a reason becomes apparent, the presence of impossibility gets balanced. Where trouble enters the story is when reason itself gets duplicated, and thus another presence is required for balance.

The latter action has to exist, because it's the means to justifying the presence of logic. The very presence of logic is the problem. Without the presence of logic, the impossibility of impossibility is still a problem, but of course the opposite is yet another problem.
Because of sight, the presence of problem is rational. If problem is presence, the balance is seeing being caused. Label problem as X, seeing as Y, and the cause of seeing as Z. The presence of X causes Z, and Z causes Y. X is reason of Z. Z is reason of Y. X is reason of Y. Problem is duplicated reason, and therefore sight is a divided loyalty between different reasons.

In the world of Batman & Robin - arguably the best Batman film so far, and if not the best then second to Batman Forever - the action of seeing has different reasons. Reason is anti, making different reasons the means to peace.

I mean sure, Arnold playing the character may have been a bit silly / childish in a way, but I think it kind of adds charm to it as the film kind of mixes in with serious and not so serious with Mr. Freeze.

The film is actually pretty good and enjoyable to watch, George Clooney did a pretty good job playing the role, and so did everyone else. The special effects / CG was good enough for 1997, it could had been a little bit better but still good none the less. The fighting choreography was fairly good as well so I dont really know why everyone dislikes this so much. It's not the best 10/10 movie of the year Batman film of all time. But it's still enjoyable and worth watching.

If it weren't for the Governator, maybe Mr. Freeze should've been singing the blues in his flawless acting career rather than freezing Gotham City. I thought this was my favorite movie in the Batman trilogy, but then I started laughing at Bane. How ugly is Bane and Poison Ivy (her lusty voice just sounded like a Bayonetta cliche). Alicia Silverstone looks worse as Batgirl. I thought Catwoman is the better hero than Batgirl. I like to see Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn naked in bikinis. The acting is terrible, the script doesn't make any sense, and totally unnecessary for a Batman sequel. Batman (coolney) didn’t feel the star of the show and half the time the focus wasn’t really on him. Robin (O’donnel) was more the star of the show being the hottest and funniest character there.
Now the film as I said wasn’t the usual action packed Batman films you’re used to but more a classic comic pun making film. It felt more a parody or a comedy in my opinion. The bad guys who in batman world are some of my favorites were played better than the main cast. Poison Ivy (Thurman) was the star of the show being played by such a good actress and was properly the most interesting character and is worth seeing if you’re a movie fan. Mr.Freeze (Schwarzenegger) was also played wonderfully and is again the star of the show. Batgirl also made an appearance which was stupid in my opinion because batgirl meant to be a lesbian (according to the comics if I remember correctly) and her character has practically been removed from comics so her being in this film made my head spin and her romance with Robin was cute but not as hyped up as it should have been.
So this film isn’t a block buster or like any batman film. It just there trying to be amazing but it just not its more an alright film which you can sit through a have a good time watching it but don’t expect it to dazzle you or give you the feeling Nolen’s batman films give you.
In my opinion a good watch but not a fantastic piece of cinema.

Bain was a stupid and unnecessary villain as he brought nothing positive to the movie, Uma Thurman was a crap villain but she's hot and would of done a better job being a pornstar in this because that would be entertaining I mean she's gorgeous! Mr. Freeze played by Arnold Schwarzenegger was slower than a snail and boring at times and tried to tell jokes or be humourous which none worked. Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl was beautiful and good and Uma Thurman also being sexy was the only highlights in the movie for me. Some of the action scenes were okay but nothing spectacular and most of the acting was cheesey, laughable and bad but certainly a better batman movie than Batman Returns! Expand

Batman & Robin, on the other hand, is a pretty shoddy film. The "franchise killer" as it's been dubbed, is a whole new level of campiness and bad acting, with a dire joke-laden script and cartoonish action and sound effects. I can understand Schumacher wanting to cheer the Batman franchise up a bit after Tim Burton's Goth-tastic tenure, but this film goes above and beyond adding a lighter touch to proceedings, often bordering on parody. George Clooney, playing the new Bruce Wayne/Batman, has a permanent expression of pained embarrassment on his face, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr Freeze is comical (mostly due to the abundance of ice-based quips he's forced to spout) and Uma Thurman's performance as Poison Ivy is so bad and lacking in emotion that she looks like she's reading cue cards. Chris O'Donnell is just about pasaible reprising his role as Dick Grayson/Robin, and newcomer Alicia Silverstone makes no impact at all as Barbara Wilson/Batgirl. The only cast member who gives any performance of note is the ever-brilliant Michael Gough, reprising for the fourth time his role of Alfred, Bruce Wayne's wise and loyal butler, though the emotional impact of Alfred being at death's door is somewhat ruined by the fact that Gough has to share the majority of his screen-time with Clooney. The film's set pieces are largely unremarkable, excepting the quite gripping bike chase between Dick, Barbara and a gang of street thugs, and the film's visually impressive finale where Mr Freeze quite literally puts Gotham city "on ice". Batman & Robin isn't a superhero film, it's a joke. It's so over-the-top and unintentionally funny, in fact, that for all of its faults (and there are many), you can get a perverse kind of pleasure out of watching it. There are films that are so bad they're good. This isn't one of them, but it is nearly at the stage where it's so bad it's acceptable, at least as a comedy film. I can screenings of Batman & Robin being held in the not too distant future where people really indulge in its awfulness. Can you imagine a room full of people wearing their bat-nipples and quoting Arnie's terrible puns in time with the film? I can, and surprisingly enough, that doesn't scare me - in fact it sounds quite fun. Not bad for a film that claims to be a superhero movie, but in fact resembles something between an extravagant toy commercial and one of the lesser Carry On films. Expand

1) Joel Schumacher is a useless director.

If youA really awful movie but also quite entertaining in its own cheesy and silly way. To clarify this: As casual viewer with not much background knowledge it is a cheesy and entertaining movie probably in the so bad it is good category. If you know more you see how good comic characters were butchered and how better stories were abandoned or just partly used. Other than that the story has some hilarious bad moments that ruin the immersion. I will go in details below. Lets start with a set up. The prequel “Batman Forever” was a financial success and was well enough received by fans and critics to get a sequel. So Joel Schumacher was rehired as director. He wanted to do a bit of a homage to the 1960 show which is technically not a bad idea. However there was “Batman the animated Series” as alternative. This show is still today the definitive Batman show. It was dark, matured, had great complex story lines, flashed out characters, create emotions and won several Emmy Awards. As sidenote: They created Harley Quinn and made Mr. Freeze a deep character with a backstory that made grown man cry to name a few virtues. It is a frequent pick for best animated show of all times. Back to the review. This is a frequent complain that they just could adapt some stories from the show which would be an instant win with the right actors. Instead we got a more humorous, cheesy and colorful approach which is again not a fault by definition and I can see this working to be extra fair. It never reaches the immersion, enjoyment and quality of the better movies. Story: It continues the story from the prequel. Batman and Robin are still the heroes / vigilantes of Gotham City. This time they encounter Mr. Freeze who is up for a bigger plan that endangers more than just the city. The problem intensifies as a new female villain named Poison Ivy appears with her (mute?) henchman Bane. She wants to save nature or Earth itself from humanities destructiveness (Clarification: That means not automatically wipe out humanity). Meanwhile Bruce Waynes butler Alfred gets visited by his niece Barbara Wilson and has more than one secret. This is the story set up and I admit on paper it looks not that bad. However it is not that good and really cheesy (More the bad kind). There are many scenes that took me out of the immersion or did not work well. It is however not bad enough to be total garbage too at least for me. Lets go to the actors. Val Kilmer did not return to play Batman and is replaced by George Clooney. I actually say he does a good job as Bruce Wayne and Batman. With a better script I can see him be at or near the top of Batman actors. Chris O’Donnell returns as Dick Grayson aka Robin. I think he delivers his role well and shows some character growth. Now to the elephants in the room. Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze is the greatest miscast since John Wayne as Genghis Khan (Yes that John Wayne as that Genghis Khan and that really happened). He had become such a tragic villain with a deep backstory from the animated series. A laughing stock that became critically acclaimed. To make this more annoying they use parts of this story here. Then we have Bane played by Robert Swenson who is probably close to in name only. He was a force to be recognized in the comics. He was really smart and a strong capable fighter. He broke Batman and outsmarted him. His plan and execution for this was magnificent. He figured out Batmans secret identity on his own and came to the conclusion he could not win surly enough against Batman. So he freed all inmates of Arkham and Batman had nightmarish weeks to capture them all. When he did that Bane approached him at Wayne Manor and won easily as Batman was totally exhausted physically and mentally. This is the true Bane. Poison Ivy is also flat compared to her comic counterpart but is somehow still enjoyable to watch as Uma Thurman is just a great actress. To be fair I cant hold anything of this against the actors of the villains as it is the scripts fault. For the others Alicia Silverstone is good as Barbara Wilson and Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth is amazing but also harmed by the script. In total I say we got good actors harmed by weaker ideas and the script. Presentation wise I say they did a good job even if I dislike some things. You can still dislike some choices but appreciate the hard work and style. The soundtrack is fine for me. Overall this was a bad movie with some entertainment value. I go with a 3/10 and would not recommend it. Bonus knowledge: The Nostaglic Critic (Doug Walker) has made a great review of this long ago that I consider hugely entertaining. Expand

One that you have been waiting to watch since it was first announced? A film you want to see so bad that you are willing to go at the first opportunity, but ended up flopping so hard that you decided to walk out the movie theater before the film ended? Well "Batman and Robin" is one of those bad examples of anticipated movies gone wrong.

Batman and Robin was directed by Joel Schumacher (8MM, Falling Down, Batman Forever) and stars George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The film starts out with Bruce Wayne (played by George Clooney) and his buddy Robin (played by Chris O'Donnell) who get a distress signal about something going on in a museum in Gotham City. We then see a funny glimpse of the bat suit showing bat butts and bat nipples. While Clooney looks very silly in the Batman outfit, it seems it was designed differently for the film for some reason, Robin's outfit looks just as silly as Batman's costume. Batman and Robin travel to the museum only to find Mr. Freeze (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) steal a precious gem that he needs to freeze Gotham in ice. Other events go on in the movie along with another villain named "Poison Ivy" (played by Uma Thurman) who also wants to take over Gotham. Batman and Robin must stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy before all is lost.

While the story sounds silly and ridiculous all at the same time, it does not get any better unfortunately. The story progresses with unnecessary scenes that could have been left out and replaced scenes that actually have something to do with the story. An example of this is when Barbara Wilson (played by Alicia Silverstone, also known as "Batgirl") goes to a motorcycle race to win money; this scene is more "in the way" type scenario rather than having to do something with the plot itself. But there are other scenes where it does not have anything related to the plot, that's a shame because they are there to make the movie longer rather than explaining more of the main story.

Not to mention, but the performances in the movie are just terrible. This is more like B-movie acting rather than professional acting; especially coming from these A-list actors who have made tons of great movies. What happened with the actors during post-production? Don't know, guess they were not themselves when this was being filmed.

Batman and Robin could have been so much better if effort was put into it. Since this was a huge anticipated movie back in the day, this could have been successful if more thought and effort was put into it. None of these cast and crew members seemed to care, screenplay was poorly written, story makes no sense, the art design looks silly; overall a waste of time and money.

Just don't forget your bat credit card if you plan to watch this movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh boy, this movie was bad. There are so many bad things with this movie. First off, the acting was absolutely garbage. George Clooney garbage as Batman, Chris O'donnell was even worse as Robin, Batgirl was unspeakably bad, and the villains were pun-filled cartoons in a movie that was designed to sell toys. They did do a good job at making a money-grabbing toy-selling movie, and I must give them credit for that. This movie also had a plot that was full of moments that I thought to myself this: "Oh wow! That was lucky. The heroes catch every break." The story was predictable, stupid, and cartoonish. Cartoonish is actually a great word to describe this movie. Overall, this movie doesn't get a 0 because it is slightly entertaining because of all the puns. It's not boring, but it lowers your IQ so don't pay to watch it.

Batman and Robin is the perfect example of how not to make a comic book film. This film is so horrendous that it enraged not only hardcore fans of the caped crusader, but the entire human race.

Well I have no idea what Joel Schumaker smoking when making Batman & Robin. Some people have said it is so bad it's good, but I think it has gone past that and excepted the new role as horrendously awful. To be fare there are some iconic scenes like, ''Rubber Lips are immune to your charm,'' or, ''7 million *pulls out Batman credit card* never leave the cave without it.'' But overall your are just sitting there thinking, are you kidding me? Other than a few memorably bad scenes I would have to say this movie is awful. I give you a 2/10 Batman & Robin, and that's me being generous. Expand

The only actor among all of them with the chin to play the title role and he gets it horribly wrong.

I gave this a one only because Robin still seems pretty much in place. Other than that, everything with the movie is wrong. George Clooney is cast as Batman, and believe me, he is one of the last people you ever need to get into that suit. I gave this a one only because Robin still seems pretty much in place. Other than that, everything with the movie is wrong. George Clooney is cast as Batman, and believe me, he is one of the last people you ever need to get into that suit. George Clooney is about as fit to play Batman as Hulk Hogan would be to play The Flash. It just doesn't make sense. When you watch him perform both Bruce and Batman feel like cliche Clooney performances. Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl could probably work, but so much of the lines and delivery (along with sound effects) in this movie are so horrible that we'll never know. I also think Uma Thurman playing Poison Ivy could work, but again, whoever told her to deliver her lines with that rollercoaster pitch was out of their mind. Arnold Schwarzeneggar playing Mr. Freeze is very easily the most inaccurate portrayal of any character in history. It may also be the corniest as well. Mr. Freeze is supposed to be an intricate character, a man with real emotions and feelings that he was robbed of. He was not supposed to be a bumbling fool who uses horrible freeze related puns. The only goddamn thing that stayed very good in this movie was Alfred, and he had the least time in this film than any of the others! Expand

One of the worst superhero movies to date. Someone should tell Joel Schumacher that ice skates, bat-credit cards, nipple suits, homoerotic statues, and neon lit thugs don't make a good movie.

Second of all, Uma Thurman, for her role as Poison Ivy, uses the exact (exact!) tactics that Michelle Pfeiffer used for her role as Catwoman in BATMAN RETURNS, and those tactics are surely no longer sexy at all. Third, Arnold Schwarzenegger was poorly, poorly miscast for the role of Mr. Freeze, and it makes him look like a terrible actor--the stupid punning he does throughout the film makes him look even more terrible. Also, BATMAN & ROBIN was Warner Bros.'s idea to veer the "Batman" films into a "family movie" zone. I found it ridiculous that to make it into a family film, they decided they should make the action sequences look corny rather than smooth, and to add in a bunch of childish humor spoken by Robin. In addition to that, George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Thurman, and Alicia Silverstone need some serious lobotomies. Even if some of their careers are alive again today, this film murdered their acting careers, and I feel so much pity. I could go on and on, but the bottom line, if I hadn't made it clear enough yet, is do not see this film. It is ridiculously stupid and unimaginably terrible. Expand
