Unfortunately this movie is Amazingly terrible.I wanted to like this movie so bad but the writing in this movie made no sense at all. The movie start off stupid. Why are the newly married couple having some type of sex in the middle of dessert at the same time as 4-5 armor trucks are coming toward the marry couple?than BOOM the car blow up onto the only truck that was carrying the master/King of zombies. Scott/the dad and the Kate/the daughter bond is just stupid as well. The daughter was so irritated.the movie try to foucsed more on her than anyone else.Nobody cares about Kate. She was the least interesting person in the whole movie. How can zombie have babies? Lol, that made no sense at all.there was no back story about why nor how the zombie baby was made. In that one scene where Kate/the daughter in the movie hide in a see thur broken down car as 100 zombies are running by and not ONE zombie saw her at all.?
Plus the pilot, how did she fix the Helicopter? She had no tools or anything to fix it. It made no sense. Lol... Also when the helicopter crash everyone dies but Kate,(Scott was bitten so I don't count him as being alive) after the crash her body was out of the helicopter. How in the heck did she survive? Lol. There was no many stupid things about this movie I can not named them all… Expand

This movie has some really good ideas about the evolution of this unknown virus and a really unique look at a zombie civilization being a more primitive and pure thing. The cast has some really impressive names although I'm surprised they didn't use their acting abilities more to really show the characters emotions, they have tried to make each character unique with their weapons and kit but don't really succeed because they don't let us get inside the characters heads. I think that the zombies also could have been used a lot more and the characters should have ran into more trouble than they did approaching the destination, they could have accomplished this by perhaps using different tribes of zombies, just because one turned was the alpha doesn't mean they all have to follow him . They could have made use of the shambler zombies and used them more like foot soldiers to the alpha. The other problem this movie has is the fact it's extremely predictable you can guess everything that's going to happen probably 10-15 minutes into the movie. The movie is probably worth a watch and if be open to watching a sequel although I'd like to see more character development and emotions with a little bit more of a secretive nature about the plot and what's about to happen in the action scenes.… Expand

Tig notaro was **** WASTED in this movie and thats a **** crime. Shes born to play the wise cracking smart engineery type but even star trek discovery let her shine better than this and thats already got some less than stellar reviews for its writing. Honestly snyder should just stay well away from writing his own stuff, as a set piece designer, fantastic. Putting style to adaptations is his forte but actually writing a movie hes an absolute mess, i really was wondering why we were given that scene that was supposed to be emotional and tear jerker between bautista and his daughter at the end of the movie when the rest of the movie just has absolutely no lead up too it. even in one scene she just straight up does a 180 from angry at dad -> forgive you for everything with no reason. like if you want to make a mad zombie romp snyder **** do it! more power to you. but dont just throw a load of inconsistent stuff in, its like he was trying to hit every, single, hollywood, beat. at once. james gunn style comedy (attempted) suicide squad esque crack team (attempted) different take on zombies (attempted) the list goes on, its like he tried to do everything and failed at making any of the thigns he tried to do good.… Expand

Just a bad scripted movie. I think the writers from sharknado had a huge influence. Funny to watch with friends but not a movie you would watch twice unless you are drunk with different friends.

Snyder is clearly in his wheelhouse here, making dumb fun movies that know they're dumb instead of making movies that are fun and dumb but think they're something more. Its mindless fun with surprisingly good performances despite shallow characters.

Zack Snyder is almost as bad as Michael Bay. Where he enjoys his own work so much that he doesn’t edit enough out. The story is 2 hour worthy or less and he drags it out to 2 hrs and 27 minutes.

This movie is fun and brutal, and feels almost Tarantino. In that sense it is great. There are some holes in the plot which I can't get my head around but overall, successful and recommended.

Zack Snyder avait déjà fait son « Armée des Morts » il y a bien longtemps (déjà) avec beaucoup moins… de moyens et une durée bien plus contenue (un peu plus d’une heure et demi) et le résultat était bien plus concluant que ce nouvel épisodeZack Snyder avait déjà fait son « Armée des Morts » il y a bien longtemps (déjà) avec beaucoup moins… de moyens et une durée bien plus contenue (un peu plus d’une heure et demi) et le résultat était bien plus concluant que ce nouvel épisode de deux plombes et demi.

La faute à ce scénario (ils s’y sont mis à trois, pourtant…) qui multiplie les incohérences à n’en plus finir et des psychodrames de guimauve à deux balles, des chansonnettes à la con qui vrillent les nerfs (et les oreilles) ainsi que des personnages qui sont autant de clichés et/ou de têtes à claques… sauf bien entendu cette bien jolie blonde que l’on avait déjà vue quelque part… oui, dans le falot et navrant Angélique de 2013 : Nora Arnezeder (et elle est française !).

C’est donc la seule qui s’en sort ici (avec le second couteau Garret Dillahunt) car tous les autres sont nuls à chier. Malgré tout, quelques bons moments (sanguinolents…) sont encore de la partie ici et là en dépit d’une réalisation pas toujours exemplaire, hélas. On peut constater quelques fulgurances du grand spectacle qu’on pouvait admirer dans « 300 »… mais trop rarement… hélas !

Preuve s’il en est que s’ils avaient revu leurs petites prétentions de prétentieux qui veulent se la jouer, les scénaristes auraient sniffé moins de rails et de fait, auraient moins fait de la merde. On a donc là un sacré gâchis… d’effets spéciaux en somme !… Expand

It's impossible to overstate how many films Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead references, and many other reviews have pointed out most of them. Literally everything in this film is an homage to something. It's a heist film set in a zombie film,It's impossible to overstate how many films Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead references, and many other reviews have pointed out most of them. Literally everything in this film is an homage to something. It's a heist film set in a zombie film, but that's just the beginning. The way the cast is recruited is only slightly less of a heist film parody than the heist episode of Rick and Morty. Every beat of the film happens right when you expect it to, which could mean it's predicable but that also reinforces how much it depends on the plethora of homages to previous films. If you think this film takes itself too seriously, you haven't noticed that all of the zombies are dancing in all of the zombie scenes, in some cases like the zombies in Thriller. In one scene, the alpha zombie approaches a pool with zombies on both sides and it looks like it could be a group performance on World of Dance.

All in all, it's not a great film, but if you take it as wholly tongue-in-cheek, it can be a real fun time. And if you turn it into a game to spot all of the references, you're in for a challenge, too.… Expand

There really isn't anything terrible that this film does but there isn't anything great either besides Dave Bautista's performance which I was really surprised it. There really isn't anything terrible that this film does but there isn't anything great either besides Dave Bautista's performance which I was really surprised it. Bautista made his very thin character much more enjoyable than all the others and I'm excited that he's trying to take on more dramatic roles now. All of the other performances are perfectly fine however I found the German character to be very annoying sometimes. The script isn't great but it's not bad either. All of the moral issues about free thinking and other species is incredibly on the nose and not subtle in any way, shape or form. The dialogue feels very wonky sometimes but it's better than Batman v Superman's dialogue. The cinematography is good at points but Snyder does not know how to use a tripod. It works pretty well for the action actually but not for dialogue scenes. Some of the shots are honestly beautiful but the shaky cam diminishes it. The story is passable but incredibly generic which is frustrating because this idea is fun but I wish they had done more with it. However, the action is pretty fun. It doesn't feel generic and is just a ton of fun. This is where the shaky cam works well. The visual effects at points are really bad especially towards the end with a helicopter flying. Another issue I had was the runtime and length of scenes. One example being the prologue. It's WAY too long. It gets what it needs to get done but keeps on going when it probably shouldn't plus the 2 and a half hour runtime is not warranted at all. 30 minutes of this movie is just bad jokes and really boring exposition which could either be cut out or done better to make the film more enjoyable. If you like Snyder or zombie movies then you might enjoy this but you can pass on it.… Expand

right from the start the truck crash and zombie's leader entrance from it the whole intro to characters and the heist and the rescue mission it was awesome although story was decent the execution was brilliant, the dark tone with the intense music sets the whole environment amazingly, the characters were amazing the father-daughter duo and the whole team was great,
some scenes in this movie was literally mind-blowing like the zombie-tiger and the zombieleader riding in horse(got intensify) and the zombie baby scene it was unbelievably WOW, the twists in whole movie just like the lift zombie killing the girl it was literally outtanowhere it was shocking just like it the whole movie was stunningly intense, the whole heist from start the 1 by 1 person getting killed with the whole different intensions of the japanese leader was surprise the head of zombie queen and the army of dead chasing it it was awesome the queen's head splash at the chase scene was nuts. the annoying guys getting killed was satisfying, the ending with nuke and the fight in helicopter with finally dave's zombie creation with it the surviving chainsaw guy it was awesome although the whole geetha's story and rescue mission felt unwanted. the ending with airplane scene was gripping and just like that i felt i want more.dont know why people are disliking it although the whole plot was little "meh" conisdering heist at the time of apocalypse still Overall it was literally an awesome experience from start to end it was intense,dark and entertaining.… Expand

A zombie heist movie is one of the easiest genre to be directed as this genre is nothing but a fast action- drama. Snyder wasn't able to handle such an easy concept. The story was good but execution was weak. Everytime the movie gains some momentum, it is killed again with a long drawn out scene. Movie could have been 1 hour short, it was stretched. At one time, you may lose patience.

Overall, this movie had a lot of potential but due to above mentioned flaws this movie doesn't provide much.… Expand

the scenes that should give you sadness give you laughter or give you a lot of cringe for how poorly implemented they are, an interesting story, with very interesting zombies, with themes of multiverse paradoxes that will be very interesting to see in the future, the effects of cgi are horrendous in some parts, very poorly developed characters, the only good characters are those of Dave Bautista , Vanderohe, dietter, lily and guzman, are impeccable, but the rest are not, their deaths mean nothing to you because they never have a clear development.

this proves once again that his first film, is his best work next to the snyder cut, just a shame this movie, it's pigeon but too forgettable.

Pros: Interesting Story, Dave Bautista and Strauss

I'll make it simple. Army of the Dead is an epic zombie-heist movie with gorgeous visual, full action-packed, and highly entertaining. This is my least favorite Zack Snyder film from his masterful filmography. A huge step down in quality in my opinion. A huge step down in quality in my opinion. I'm not one of those people who can shut their brains off and disregard the lack of logic in a film. Firstly, the positives: 1) Great world building, for e.g. aliens, time loop & robot zombies 2) One of the best opening credit scenes in cinema (Zack has mastered the art of opening credit scenes) 3) Dave Bautista is a really good actor (he surprised me) 4) Great kills, visuals & CGI 5) Zombie tiger. Now, the negatives: 1) Weak script 2) Kate's character was pointless in this film (used as a plot convenience) 3) Why would Chambers believe others went through that small path? Dave's character would never fit in that gap 4) When Chambers breaks through the glass, no one helps her, when she could have gotten away and warned them about Martin. 5) Why did the team need a safecracker, when Tanaka could have given them the code? 6) I have no problems with long movies, loved Watchmen (directors cut), BVS (UE), Zack Snyder's Justice League & Man of Steel. A bit of fun but mostly garbage, also pretty much a bad remake of Aliens with zombies and a different setting. I watched this and Godzilla vs Kong. Both were terrible, what a disappointing weekend.

Would be better if when they were escaping was the movie instead of this. They broke the rules that they made. Like it takes ten seconds to become a zombie. But at the end the dues survives for like 5 minutes even after being bit. The only thing carrying this movie for me is the setting. Zombies in Vegas cool cool. Zombie animals cool im down with that. It has some novel concepts but it falls for every Troup in the book. I want my 2 hours and 30 minutes of my life I spent watching this back… Expand

Army of the Dead was entertaining, though filled with plot holes and inconsistencies. Dave Bautista unexpectedly did a good job "acting" his character, the soundtrack was pretty good, and the story was enough to engage the viewer. The protagonist goes around apologizing to everyone. Zombies are so fast and smart that if you teach them few few things they can go on to win the Olympics. What else to say about this film? Yes, I would call it a "set of shots" rather than a film.
