The carefully interwoven story of two quietly powerful women, both having faced demons in their past and trying to start over but are facing significant challenges on their own journeys both metaphorically and literally, will get you thinking about moments when they have gone your way on the basis of trivial circumstances or gone against you in the blink of an eye on the slightest random detail. A confrontation about privilege that uses the tried and tested device of two completely different people establishing an unlikely bond, but achieves a genuine, if emotionally distant, narrative intensity.

This is the kind of film that could fall into plot chasms of its own concept - after all, the themes ranging from poverty, immigration and the bureaucratic systems that control it couldn't express more interesting developments, but the message of how solidarity can emerge between such different circumstances remains compelling.

It may seem to circle around the same factor, but And Breathe Normally is a movie that successfully manages to be tolerably significant even if some of its credibility has to be overlooked to make it more redeeming.
