lol why listen to a bunch of "professionals" who quite literally watch movies for a living when there's a whole internet comment section full of trustworthy anonymous conservatives, many of whom were sheltered from that dreaded pop culturelol why listen to a bunch of "professionals" who quite literally watch movies for a living when there's a whole internet comment section full of trustworthy anonymous conservatives, many of whom were sheltered from that dreaded pop culture during their childhoods, here to educate you on the finer points of filmmaking and screenwriting and all the other artsy-fartsy things that are actually mostly made by liberals now that I think about it? Can't you sheeple see that each of these "professionals" from disparate parts of the country writing for competing publications are nonetheless part of a great liberal conspiracy to keep the masses ignorant by teaching them how to critically assess the unquestionable truths I just happen to believe in?

Don't listen to any of those biased liberals; they're literally banking on this movie, and the country from which its title derives, to fail! I mean, did THEY spend their hard-earned money Obama hasn't taken from me yet but you know he wants to for the ticket to see this movie? No, they probably just attended an advanced screening for free! Did THEY pay for the book this movie is based on that I haven't quite finished yet, or for the ticket to see the previous movie which was just as good as this one mainly because it was pretty much the future version of it, or for the book that movie was based on which I actually haven't opened but I've already seen the movie and who likes reading anyway? No!! Were THEY hired to defend its filmmaker against charges of campaign fraud in front of a federal grand jury? No!!! They've got nothing invested in this movie, so why would they say anything good about it? How can you trust them to be as unbiased as I am?!

If you consider yourself a true-blooded American in the legacy of the European colonialists depicted in this film - vaguely God-fearing men who, with their own two hands, beat the black men and women who built this beautiful nation up from the ashes of the indigenous societies they annihilated, you should be required by law to watch this film. Liberty or Death! God Bless Amercia!

*CRITICS* .. open your eyes and take a step down from your liberally-biased media talking points !
FACT: The state of America is the worst we have been in under any president in US history, and the media keeps white-washing the facts in absolute denial that they backed an unskilled radically left politician into the White House for 2 terms.

If you open up your eyes and ears (vs. in denial), you will hear that the "progressive" movement has taken over the democratic party and slanted the facts in 2 of the most populous segments of our nation: our youth (in schools and universities) and our lower classes (whom will take as many handouts this government will give them .. making them dependents addicted to the socialized nation.. negating any form of work ethic in their families for generations to come.. aka welfare nation USA).

This movie goes through an enormous amount of historical research and interviews the unspoken truth at the source. The facts are mostly unknown and not ones you will hear from the biased media/critics, most of which they want to remain hidden.. given that THE TRUTH is what the Media and Critics PAINT as a FALSE REALITY on the NEWS we hear every day (which is why our president has 8 years to demolish our economy and the future patriotism and work ethics.. and associated past prosperity that American's had).

As the movie depicts, capitalism isn't some evil empire, but simply corporate growth occurs ONLY when consumers buy their products. .and given America's highest corporate taxes in the WORLD.. and rising, these economic engines (where we GET Employment!) are being throttles since high taxes on them mean less hiring.. less research.. and incentive to leave America where taxation is lower. The flip side of the coin is higher taxes on the consumer means.. less $ to spend on products and fuel our economy .. (2/3 of the US GDP IS CONSUMER SPENDING !). What Obama.. is doing lacks all logic, unless he has ulterior motives (which is why you need to see the part 1 movie: 2016 : Obama's America).

Simple facts that aren't even in this movie.. : we are now a socialized nation and economy (which is why Europe and other socialized parts of the world have no productivity gains and languish for the past several decades.. handouts with no work requirements give no incentive to install either : work ethics, now patriotism.. both of which are lost in this new generation under Obama. When you make the underclass of society dependent and not proud of their country.. America falls apart (but guarantees an under-educated class that will keep voting democratic to keep getting the handouts.. add to that 50M illegals to dillute our work-force and put $Tr more stress on the healthcare system.. we are about to incur tremendous economic fallout.. but possibly not until after the next election).

I have never been so changed as a person by a cinematic feature such as this movie.
Without it I don't know where I'd be today. But I'd probably not have to be forced to have my friend type down everything I say because I can't type on the keyboard. No no no. I know what you're thinking. "Wow! This dumb*** doesn't know how to type on a keyboard LOL!" Well, I do. It is just more difficult now that I'm blind. Yes. That's right. I'm blind. This god-forsaken movie was so bad that it made me blind.

You might be thinking about how rough my life is now, but don't you worry! Without my blindness, I wouldn't be able to "accidentally" walk in the girl's locker room without the excuse of "Oh sorry! I'm blind. Oops that's not a door knob! That's your boob!" without getting in trouble.

With that being said...

Highly Recommend

Alas, the argument is a failed one, full of holes, inaccuracies, false assumptions, and numerous straw men that get beaten to a pulp while more informed and truthful counterarguments are ignored. It preaches to the choir and will produce few, if any, converts.

And, hey, this film had a major distributor and opened in more than 1,100 theaters nationwide, yet it has grossed less than $12 million to date, making it the 19th-ranking documentary of all time.

Fahrenheit 911 opened in 868 theaters and grossed nearly $120 million, making it the top-raking documentary of all time. And Moore's film was both documentary and satire, making it entertaining!

I enjoyed it and appreciated the historical information and reminder that there have been some of the best books written by those who were there from an outside perspective on just how amazing our countries early history was and unique our country is. This movie makes you really feel proud of our country and recognize you can still today share the rest of what has been omitted in NEW history books to let those around us know America is amazing. It builds this perspective while allowing those who actually HATE America to say what they feel about it in their own words. It is a debate per se with their thoughts and not just a single example they make but many. Followed by an answer to each.
To those that replied to my prior post mentioning Why do you suppose that critics say the film is a terrible movie and rate it as bad while actual viewers the complete opposite those who see it gave it a 90 % approval, you replied to me because they watch fox news.
I wonder if you are saying that your review of any other movie now should have a disclaimer as to say I watch CNN or I like LGBT, or I like Obama. What difference does it make what place you choose to watch news when it comes to a movie to watch.
This is a movie review. If you find yourself unable to watch a movie and give it a open minded review of it as a MOVIE then you have just placed all of your reviews of movies in doubt because I was under the impression that you could give me a movie review as a professional who was bigger than blind bias.
Whatever your perspective realize movies are meant to appeal to some of us more than others. J'est we decide to make our own choices and leave you out of the decision process completely.

D'Souza is factual, he doesn't hide the facts that America did make mistakes, but when you compare this country to the rest of the world, we have worked hard to fix any mistakes that we have made. I was entertained throughout the whole movie, and left feeling really good about being a citizen of this country and this country in general. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, after all that is what makes America great. What isn't so much fun anymore about the people commenting is that they attack the commentator. Its a horror film for liberals! Liberals don't argue on truth or facts but on which this film will be hard for them to stand corrected by their errors about history. But it doesn't matter because once somebody is wrong they will find a new excuse and loophole to protest their cause to be right, just as the kid who says I know it was wrong to hit him but he started it first. Two wrongs don't make a right.

It reminds me of how Viet Cong swayed Americans to their side to win the war by ending the fight and made them go against our own troops just as the terrorist is swaying Americans to hate their own country so you can help them win the war because they don't give a dam about blowing you up and murdering your kids and family. Pacifist Americans remind me of a weak betrayer who would go on the side of the enemy to please their Master like the Nazi pacifist in America did to support their cause.

Terrorists don't need to attack America anymore, American libs are doing a fine job at it by being recruited as traders psychologically by Jihad. Every country wants to hate America but play double standards where they desire to have our goods and freedom. Its about jealousy, despising, coveting, and low self esteem against a country who has better. When will you stand up American jellyfish for your country and stop being Benedict Arnolds you yellow belly cowards. Everybody else love their own country except you dimwit and you condone hate to spread like poison to fuel the fire so terrorist can have an excuse to murder us. You have blood on your hands.

Hooah! Molon Labe and Alex Jones!

I was doing great with this one (in spite of the overemphasis on a version of the US Revolution/Civil War/WWII that omitted the entire role that corporations played in instigating, financing and starting the hostilities (respectively). While they were giving me new info and telling people about Howard Zinn - all was fine.

And then, the whitewash began. It was still OK to learn about the African American's having slaves - but, were there really as many of them as there were whites? or did I hear that wrong? I didn't even freak out when they started justifying the white's land grabbing on the American Indians - at first. But when they attributed the American Indian Genocide to random disease and said that the Sioux nation has had a Billion dollars "set aside" for them... Oh please. Set aside? What are they, underage or something? And about that disease - I clearly remember blankets contaminated with Small Pox.

Then came the real propaganda. Did we know that America "let Iraq keep it's oil." Yea? Really? I think we're still there w/our $24 Billion embassy, and the mega O&G companies wanted their same same 30 year "no increase" contracts. And then this one, "America was giving the Afghani people food aid" and not really going to war to steal their mineral wealth for mega corporations using OBL as an excuse." That's when I got up and walked out.

Dinesh needs to see a dentist, grow a beard, and read Thom Hartmann's book "Unequal Protection" and learn how the US Constitution really was written and how corporations really created the America he was trying to document. I wonder how much they paid him for this schlock. Hooah! Molon Labe and Alex Jones!

But America has also committed some terrible mistakes in the past and will likely commit some terrible mistakes in the future. Not acknowledging the entirety of America's past, in addition to not admitting that the current political and economic structure is flawed (and has been for decades, not just under President Obama) and in desperate need of reform is where the film falls to pieces, frankly. And to place the blame of all of the current woes on a President who has been blocked by the other party on practically every attempt at legislation is foolish at worst and nonsensical at best. D'Souza is very good at building an argument for his beliefs, but he is nothing more than a demagogue. If you are a conservative, it will affirm your beliefs. But it does nothing to actually foster critical thinking and analysis. Expand

Dinesh D’Souza has created a tribute and defense of our nation unique to his perspective as an immigrant, an intellectual, and a sincerely spiritual man. It is common knowledge that our citizens are sharply divided along political and cultural lines. Have you ever wondered why? Is there a group of people who benefit from this polarization and division? Do we have influential people in America who want to tear down America? Who embrace national suicide? Mr. D’Souza interviews many of these people, and you will be shocked by what they say! This movie is scary, funny, inspiring, and thought-provoking.

So much of what was shared in this film has been taken out of history books and the classrooms by the far left liberals who don't want you to know the truth about our great country. Dinesh D'Souza and Gerald Molen are two quality filmmakers that once again highlight the exceptional-ism of America, and a world without her. It's interesting that more and more foreign born migrants that come here appreciate and love the greatness of this country more than our own natural born citizens. You must see this movie!

There are many lost people in this country (USA) that believe many bad things about America. This film explores all of these issues and sets the record straight. As a documentary, it does cover in detail both sides, but in the end it is more shaded to one side.

Typically, the pathetic liberal critics who love everything Michael "fat useless liberal uneducated lying scumbag" Moore does, but seem to hate this movie. I will say it, they are killing this because they are liberal and it kills many liberal ideals.

Do not listen to the critics. Go see this movie. This movie does not cover up the bad things we have done in our history. This movie tells us why we are uniquely American. There is not nearly enough about how the media is covering for the demoncrats, but maybe that is for another book and movie. It is high time kids and people hear the truth and the positive side of our history.

I normally do not like to cover plot points or storylines, but one of the things that is a dark side of our history covered in the movie is slavery. While slavery is denounced in the movie as it should, it does remind us the United States is the first and only country to fight a civil war in order to stop slavery. You won't hear that anywhere in the liberal media world.

Example after example, this movie shows us that there is a lot of good about America even out of bad situations. We see some of the players who have shaped not only our education and way of life, but how this came about. This film reminds us that we the people are the ones that can stop all the evil things the demoncrats are doing today.

We must all go out and support this movie as a point to Obama and Pelosi and Reid and the entire liberal mass media and democratic party that the people are smart and willing to rise up against this anti American movement we are experiencing today.

Critics can say what they will, but this movie is not lying. This movie tells us the truth.

This is not a big budget affair so my expectations were not sky high. I was however pleasantly surprised by the overall presentation. I agree with many of the professional critics that seem a little confused as to why he begins the film with the premise of General Washington being killed by a sniper and I expected a documentary about the world without America. Of course the film moves away form that premise and towards a general discussion of the "indictments against America" and a soft rebuttal to them. So that abrupt change in direction was a bit awkward. That aside, this was a very fair representation of two schools of thought about America and her place in the world. Clearly D'Souza has conservative leaning personal beliefs and this film makes no effort to hide that. it can and should be noted that, neither did Michael Moore with any of his popular documentary features. Unlike Mr. Moore, D'Souza is mostly respectful towards those with opposing viewpoints. The movie is not an all out assault on the left but rather an gentle nudge towards the idea that America is not nearly as bad as some on the left insist. The film will touch on sensitive subject matter, but I believe handles it in a professional and respectful way. Mr D'Souza opens the narrative with the calm statement that "I Love America". Make no mistake that he shows a bit of patriotic pride towards the end of the film. Whether you are a dyed in the wool lefty or a hard line righty or somewhere in between... This is a good movie to watch and think about. Put aside you angry politics and soak in the idea that America has been both a shining beacon on the hill and the occasional oppressor. But in the end, America has worked to right her wrongs and help others achieve the better opportunity we have enjoyed. Perhaps we are not as bad as some say we are. Expand

It is both brave and tragic; brave of D’Souza to shine a light on so much truth that is now considered politically incorrect, yet tragic that so few news or educational sources report on these truths. Also whether or not it was intentional, Metacritic has done us all a great favor in segregating critics from the rest of us. Especially for a politically charged film like this, the Metacritic format exposes mainstream media so-called “critics” for what their true liberal bias shows they are.
Finally, I’d recommend portions of D’ Souza’s content be used to fact-check all of our children’s history text books.

I knew of many of the things described in this film, but was pleasantly surprised to learn others! I will, for instance, remember to memorialize Mme. C.J. Walker, the first black woman millionaire, next February during Black History Month! I will not do the same for the black slave holders. America is exceptional, don't let anyone tell you different. Snore! I really wish I could get back the 20 minutes I wasted before walking out of this gab fest from Dinesh D'Souza, Inc. There is nothing here that's not in his bland, fake-factoid filled books.

I find it ironic that critics are accusing D'Souza of makingD'Souza makes an effective and fair defense of America - what makes her special - and provides the proper moral and historical context for various injustices in our history. I find it ironic that critics are accusing D'Souza of making straw-man arguments and withholding key facts or arguments in the discussion of slavery, capitalism, etc. D'Souza does nothing of the sort. He very fairly states the general accusations of those on the left who accuse the US of illegitimacy because of slavery, capitalism, imperialism, etc. He pokes holes in arguments made by well-known professors and political commentators on the left (Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, etc.) and fills in critical details intentionally left out to support an "America is evil and needs to be re-made" conclusion. This is definitely NOT an instance where D'Souza parades up a bunch of light-weights making specious arguments. I find it laughable, but sadly not surprising, that several very left-leaning critics gave America a "0" out of 100. I note that these same critics thought some hatchet-job documentary on the Koch brothers (I know - even the mere mention of their names should cause all acceptably left-leaning citizens to convulse in anger) was "passionate" but "fair" and not "vituperative." They even gave Transformers close to a score of 40. It's obvious that these critics measure the worth of a documentary not on its truth or accessibility but on its political message. Ultimately, it appears a "good" documentary starts with a conclusion they support, e.g. "corporations and Christians are bad and big-government atheist liberals are good", and then selectively back-fit data to support this conclusion. Oh, and if you can sufficiently rabble-rouse and inspire people to rise up against "the man", that makes the documentary even better. Since America is a fair and compelling argument in defense of the "idea" of America (quoting Bono from US in the movie) - that of liberty, free enterprise, and entrepreneurship - this does not sit well with several of the critics who give the movie a score of 0. This is dishonest but sadly expected. Go see this movie and bring your kids. You'll be glad you did. Expand

So very glad I did. While one could nit-pick at a lack of big name actors and re-enactments that are a little shy of 100 million blockbusters, that would only emphasize that you've missed the point of this documentary. The message, story, and heart of this movie were spot on. A fantastic execution of both education and uplifting inspiration. Seems like we've been promised hope for a long time now... finally, someone delivered.

Whether you're a native-born American, or an immigrant like myself, you should definitely seen this movie. It will reinvigorate your faith in country, or at very least, help open your mind to the possibility of a better tomorrow.

This is one of those movies that won’t hit you fully until the next day. My Husband purchased the book and told me how great it was. I will be reading the book this week and want to see the movie again this weekend. As being from a large Hispanic family where our family Patriarch and Matriarch immigrated lawfully settling the family in Kansas City in the 50’s, I would recommend this movie my fellow Hispanic citizens and to all Americans including children 9 years or older. A breath of fresh air from the movie industry and the producers of this film took extraordinary steps to make this not a movie but an event. Thank you so much…… Expand

Let's be honest for a minute: This movie is good, but not awesome. But the great thing about this film is it's truth and a lack of lies, crudeness and vulgarity, all of which, apparently, must be present for modern movie critics to hold a film in high regard. Take yourself and your family to see a film that puts our country's and its sins (...and its great accomplishments) in perspective. America (the country) is exceptional, not because we're "better" than other people, rather we're exceptional because have largely been an exception to the typical tyranny that most people in history have had to live under. Critics apparently cannot comprehend this notion, so go see this decent film and pray that we can remain a nation of freedom (a true exception in the world). Expand

Bottom line, you'll hate 'America' if you're one of the bozos who think Obama is doing a great job. However, if you side with most Americans, who in a recent poll said they regarded Obama as the worst president of the last century (a charitable assessment, by the way, since Obama is easily the worst presdient U.S. history), then you'll hate this film. Putting aside their churish and untoward comments, some of which are flat-out wrong, the film is not great, but it's not bad either. If it fails to persuade, it is only because the pro-Obama arguments it poses are too numerous and well-drawn to rebut in a two-hour film. Expand

Just as the major media markets are aligned with Obama as to be part of his public relations team. They are not fair and balanced in any way whatsoever. If they were, then every Michael Moore movie that was made, and were made by completely arranging the events of the movie so as to be rigged, would have been rated with the same vitriol that these professional snots have rated this movie.
It was the same when "The Passion of Christ" came out. Before they had seen the movie, they had their poison pens ready and reviews were already written.
I think we can all agree that the major media markets will eventually be dissolved because of their intent on steering the arguments and not being impartial.
Long live the internet. It will be the thing that this country (and the world) needs to be given the facts, and not have to depend on the "dog-food" that these left-wing liberal media outlets are trying to feed us.
