That was a very good movie. The way it develops the human nature is really very amazing! Iranian cinema has another impressive movie in its list.

You have to love Farhadi's consistency, even if his scripts are not incredibly fluid, but the concept of this story about how money changes people, however much we say it doesn't, is complex but at the same time realistic and plausible.

It relies on a narrative credibility that doesn't let itself get lost in superficial drama, something rather uncomfortable that tends to happen all the time in stories of this kind.
This is clearly not something I would expect from a director like Farhadi, but the plot could easily have fallen into such a tricky device. Thankfully he avoided it.

His filmography has better resources, but A Hero was a better film than his last one.… Expand

Almost excellent film by Asghar Farhadi. The thing that surprised me in this film is taking the audience to reality. I saw myself completely in the cinema instead of the main character of the film and communicated with him. It was amazing.Almost excellent film by Asghar Farhadi. Jadidi certainly deserves to be nominated for an Oscar. This film was able to intelligently express the concerns of the society. Asghar Farhadi showed his smartest version in these years in this film. One of the main chances Oscar for directing should be known as Asghar Farhadi. In general, this was a different and good film by Asghar Farhadi. We are not going to enjoy this film. We are going to taste this film and learn from.… Expand

An outstanding film. Amazing character development that is very rare in cinema, a very complex but realistic plot. It is the best Farhadi film since a separation.

اول از همه اگه يه سر به رزومه نمره هاي اين پدرسگ بكنيد مي بينيد كه كلن غير گه خوري هايي كه اينجا كرده ، يه نقد به فيلم اترنالز ويكي هم به سريال هاك‌آي داده ، اونم به زبان انگليسي ! خب پرواضحه كه اين حيوان دست راست و چپ اش رو تشخيص نميده . كنجكاوي باعث شد كه من يه نگاه ساده به اينترنت بندازم و ديدم بله! جناب منتقد نقدهاي دو كاربر مختلف رو از صفحه اين فيلم و اون سريال از آي.ام.دي.بي دزديده !

Absloute home run from farhadi ! Gonna keep it short and simple : i can't see how this script can be matched . I spent HOURS trying to find a hole , an unreasonable event or uncalled action in the course of the plot and found nothing . TheAbsloute home run from farhadi ! Farhadi, as usual, is in his familiar territory playing with familiar themes and familiar characters. The movie has its intricate moments but it works better as good statement or protest, rather than good cinema. It's gratifying that there's a film from Iranian director Asghar Farhadi that I can at last genuinely recommend. The filmmaker's latest morality play tells the story of an inmate incarcerated for failing to pay a sizeable debt, but, while onIt's gratifying that there's a film from Iranian director Asghar Farhadi that I can at last genuinely recommend. The filmmaker's latest morality play tells the story of an inmate incarcerated for failing to pay a sizeable debt, but, while on a two-day leave from prison, he has an opportunity to make amends when he comes into a stash of lost gold coins. However, can he honorably bring himself to personally benefit from someone else's apparent misfortune? He subsequently seeks to return the coins to their rightful owner, a scenario that initially earns him tremendous respect and public goodwill but that ultimately validates the notion that no good deed goes unpunished. Or does it? This is easily Farhadi's best work, a production that engages viewers with its carefully crafted deliberate ambiguity and the heartfelt emotion it generates for a protagonist who can't seem to catch a break. Even with that, though, the film still bears some of the hallmarks that typically weaken this director's pictures -- a narrative that's a little too obvious, longwinded ethical discussions that could stand some judicious edited, a script that could be improved with greater subtlety -- but, thankfully, those issues are far less pronounced here than in his other works. It's taken Farhadi some time to at last get things right, but, fortunately, he has done it here. We can only hope that he continues along this path in future productions.… Expand
