Jason Schwartzman is one of those actors who seems to be pigeon-holed into one image and acting style, but yet, even when he doesn't seem to be taking any acting risks, he manages to do a good job and not become a cliché.

Jason Schwartzman is one of those actors who seems to be pigeon-holed into one image and acting style, but yet, even when he doesn't seem to be taking any acting risks, he manages to do a good job and not become a cliché.
That's a really tricky thing.

Now, the only problem with that, is that despite doing things well, Schwartzman gets trapped in roles like the one in this film. Indie to the core, but with absolutely nothing special to stand out.

This is a tough one to score.

All I can say is if you're in the mood for a very offbeat, humorous, somewhat touching but largely inconsequential movie this may be for you.

Sort of like the movie you and your stoner friends always wanted to write but unlike you and your lazy ilk, Jason Schwartzman is related to Francis Ford Coppola and Nick Cage and can greenlight anything, anytime.
