A truly genuine and authentic story, skillfully discovered and told, in a compelling fashion. The fact that all the major characters are wonderfully musically gifted, flawed in their own unique manner, and rise above their individual challenges in unexpected ways is a fabulous tale, spanning four decades of their lives, that has (as Kissinger used to say) “the added benefit of being true...”. Tons of humor, plot twists, emotional resonance, and great previously unheard music. Absolutely fascinating, and honestly absorbing. I had never heard of the band Magic Music, I have never been to Boulder, Colorado and I wasn't around in the 70s, which is why I was so surprised when this movie captivated and moved me to tears - in a good way! This film nods to history throughout, reflecting a period that mirrors our current political climate, creating a narrative that appeals both to older viewers and younger viewers, who are able to relate to the identical struggles. The Magic Music Movie has several moments of levity, but also reminds one in a sweet and somewhat heavy way that though things may not work out the way we plan, they will come together in the end. The movie is artfully made, from the directing to shot choice to animation and editing. Reaching the end of the film felt like coming home from a trip - exhilarated with a twinge of sadness, and wishing you could go back for more.… Expand
