Ugh. I did not enjoy this at all. The format is three unlikeable antiheroes going around killing people for no real reason. This time the violence is fairly implied with lots of blood splattering around and CGI blood. Please can filmmakers stop using CGI for gore and violence in horror films, it really takes away from the impact. There is no gore to speak of. No story. No characters except the evil 3 from hell. Seriously, how does this lack of imagination even get made? Expand

So much so that I am sure Rob would have loved to take this one back for a proper re-write because so much of it makes no sense and was clearly written on the fly. Spalding is given the death penalty while the other two get life, Baby gets life with the possibility of parole. Otis is put on a chain-gang quickly allowing his escape. It's just dumb stuff that obviously would never happen but for plot purposes it does and it's just insulting.

There's no enjoyment to be found in this movie, Just disappointment.

If you're a fan of Rob Zombie's films, I have nothing left but to say that here you will find the same thing he has been doing since he began his career with House of 1000 Corpses.

For my part, I have always believed that he's a lousy director and this film doesn't come to tell me something new or make me change my mind.

You can like it or you can hate it, for my part there are no half measures and I say it frankly, I didn't like it and I didn't enjoy it at all. Those who love it, then enjoy.

RIP Sid Haig.

it's too bad that after reaching high in his last movie Rob Zombie decided to dumb everything down so hard. Especially considering that just 10 or 20 seconds more consideration would have helped a script with this much potential. There are so many pieces in place for this to be something special, but unfortunately "3 FROM HELL" is about the most boring and average movie one could imagine, despite a few ascents into greatness Expand

Many of the scenes were like bad music videos which didn't advance the plot in the least. I'm gonna chalk it up to Sid Haig's unfortunate health issues and say better luck next time. I won't abandon Zombie as a director over it, but this was just not a good film by any metric. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Always been a sort of fan of Rob Zombie's whole exploitative killer freakshow style, but this movie flat out didn't cut it. The movie as a whole is style over substance; if you take a step back and look at the story beats, it's basically a series of cliches, one after the other. Besides the nepotism of Sherri Moon having the most screen time while being the worst actor by far, complete with about eight slow-mo shots of her dancing around like a moron, you have no less than three people being shot in the back at the last second, saving our "heroes" deus ex machina style, in addition to more groan-worthy dumb quips from Otis than you can shake a stick at. You basically know what is gonna happen in a scene before it happens. Very uncreative and overall basic plot, hidden under a grindhouse style.

This is basically a Quentin Tarantino movie without good acting. You have a poor man's Charles Manson, a second rate Harley Quinn, and the third dude that isnt Captain Spalding. The movie thinks its more clever than it actually is, with character banter sprinkled in meant to endear you to the evil psychos. It doesnt work because the characters are two-dimensional tropes we've seen before. Psycho killers 1, 2, and 3. Otis looks scary in the camera and talks about the devil, Moon trots out her fake laugh and crazy, unhinged, schlocky character she plays badly in every. single. Zombie movie with Troll 2 levels of acting ability. Throw in a washed out filter over every shot and some violence and you have a movie trying too hard to have a 70s vibe, complete with screen wipe scene transitions for heavens sake. This movie...

Basically, this movie isn't good in my opinion. It's rehashed stuff we've seen done better in Zombies earlier movies.

Stop giving Rob Zombie money until he stops casting Sherri Moon just because she's his wife, and get a script we haven't seen over and over again, expecting the violence and roundhouse style to carry everything. It's getting old.

The first 15 minutes of the movie are fine. Perhaps nostalgia speaks. Then it becomes boring, tedious and without a well defined approach. The ending is predictable and bad. I wasted time of my life watching this piece of crap.
