  1. As awful as repeating any of these single-player mission sounds, it's something that you're going to have to get used to. Due to the unfair advantages of the enemy, including the fog of war that prevents you from seeing what lies ahead, you will constantly be surprised by waves of enemies as you push forward without the ability to obtain any intelligence or reconnaissance.

The graphics, gameplay and AI seem like they fell out of a time warp from too many years ago. With much better games that came out just a short while ago available at a comparable cost, there isn't a good reason to purchase Iwo Jima.

You still can't heal or even take enemies' weapons, although some minor gameplay improvements make this sequel better than "Berlin", so we are upping the score to a full 2.0 [Dec. 2006, p.84]

I would strongly suggest anyone to read other reviews which strongly point out the weakness in this game then maybe come back to my review because I think my review sees the game from a different perspective. It it bad? Yes. Can it be enjoyed though? Absolutely. What's missing from other reviews is that despite the garbage quality of the game it does make one feel reasonable immersion. This isn't borderlands where being reckless is inconsequential. This is old school you slip up that's it you are virtually done. So this is why there are no health packs and why weapon loading takes crazy amounts of time. And also why checkpoints are sparse. You better go slow and make good decisions when to pilfer and what may be inside a hut or in that jungle brush. This is realism really and imo a strong point of the game. Just imagine being in the situation in real life would you just run out in the middle of the field like a dog running across a busy highway? I think not. Would it be important to not loose count of your ammo. Absolutely. This game doesn't a great job in this respect and even enemy placements and encounters aren't individually scripted the same each time you try a mission it will play out somewhat differently unlike most games which have set enemy placements in 100 % of the game. Unfortunately low quality is still low quality though and thus the game still gets a low score. Just saying it is underrated and I think a 5/10 is more reflective of all considerations of this games design. Expand

Well let me tell you this game is the worst thing I've touched in a long time. You could play bad game bingo with this because it's got everything. From bad collision detection, ugly graphics, invisible walls, walls you can shoot through, really bad AI, terrible animations, enemy's having there guns float above there hands, enemy's aiming at the air but hitting you, unclear objectives, literally no characters at all I don't think your character even has a name, Guns that shoot through people or just miss completely, terrible level design, moments where you go where the hell do I go. Really just everything you can imagine is bad about the game but also some things you might not expect. Like how it take five seconds to search body for ammo or the fact there's no heeling items in the game which means you have to finish levels with what health you have. And you cant pick up enemy weapons which means your stuck with what they give you at the beginning of the level. And in the first level they give you a sniper rifle that takes forever to shoot because it has to go through the bolt animation between all shots which is annoying as hell. The only complements I can give this game is that it doesn't crash or break, it only glitched once and me and my friends had a bit of entertainment from how bad it was. But the most baffling thing about the game is the fact it came out in 2006 when Call of Duty 3 would release that year and the Xbox 360 was already a year old and this only released on PC and OG Xbox. Which all tells me that the developers did not give a **** about the game and so only put it together along with Road to Berlin as a cheap tactic to get some money. Expand
