Unlike EA's game ["NBA Street"], Street Hoops is ugly, shallow, and incredibly dull.
-
If half the effort was spent on improving gameplay as was exerted in acquiring licensed products, then the game would have been much better. Sadly, this is not the case.
-
With a dismal defensive effort, an occasionally confused bump-mapping system, and unrealistic gameplay physics, Street Hoops puts up a hard brick.
-
Xbox Nation MagazineHitting shots is a random affair rather than a sweet science, and the impressive array of street-ball moves (the highlight of the game) are rendered superfluous due to faulty A.I. and crude, if easily accessible, controls. [Winter 2002, p. 99]
-
Street Hoops tries to capture the sensationalized style of hardcore playground ball, but only manages to come off as a weak, thinly veiled copycat.
