The controls aren't terrible, but the basic gameplay of story mode is so bland that it is difficult to stay interested in it for more than five minutes.
-
Fans of the original Spy vs. Spy games won't find anything worth playing in this Xbox update. But even if you don't know what the series is about, you aren't really missing anything.
-
If you're thinking of buying this because it's cheap, don't bother, as even at its budget price it's still not worth the money.
-
Consider Spy vs. Spy a third-person parody of the genre that doesn't add much to the equation.
-
Even though Spy vs. Spy has some dreadful, contrived gameplay, things are evened out a bit with options for in-game Dolby Digital sound and HDTV 480p functions. Even though you're stuck with a mediocre game, it will look and sound fairly clean.
-
The lack of humour and pedestrian platform chores are reason enough to stick with the duo's entertaining comic-book adventures.
-
But no amount of colourful 3D graphics and soothing jazz can make up for tiresome puzzles, empty levels, unoriginal weapons and endless backtracking.
-
Another big disappointment is the lack of inclusion of the incredibly catchy Spy Vs Spy theme song heard every week on the MAD TV show on Fox.
-
netjakOverall, after playing this game one time through (ugh, tell me about it), I can confidentially say that I will never play this game ever again and never look back. This game is awful, plain and simple.
