Game InformerMight just be the best racing game for the sytsem. [August 2002, p.86]
-
Official Xbox MagazineAlthough it can get repetitive, the overall feeling of zooming around on perfectly realized waves, complete with foam and spume, is mindlessly addictive. [Sept 2002, p.96]
-
The definitive version of the game. PS2 Splashdown players who own an Xbox should consider this upgrade.
-
The wonderfully impressive developers at Rainbow Studios have dazzled us once again.
-
When you race through the new courses and then through the original courses, it almost feels like you're playing two different games--one that truly captures water racing and another that gives small little tastes of what it can be like.
-
A solid racer with good graphics and control, a well-integrated trick system, and provides a challenge. There are some downsides lack of shortcuts, no stat modification, occasional frustrating AI but they arent enough to sink the experience.
-
No matter who you try and kid, this is still a PlayStation2 port. This is something that is evident from the sound quality and the unchanged water.
-
With the increased resolution of the Xbox, the visuals in the game are now simply breathtaking.
-
With a respectable amount of tracks and a good number of riders to choose from Splashdown delivers in almost every department for an extreme racing title.
-
Overall, though, if youve already conquered the PS2 version, you can safely skip right past this game.
-
This will definitely appeal to those who felt Wave Race was too difficult or demanding. Still, Splashdown's too conservative.
-
Its many courses, shortcuts and secret areas along with the multiple stunts to master ensure that this game is a fun, rewarding and a beautiful escape after a long day at the office or school.
-
Xbox Nation MagazineLacks the imagination and polish of "Wave Race," but it's enjoyable nonetheless. [Fall 2002, p.117]
-
Play MagazineLooks stunning on Xbox, and plays better than ever, thanks to some minor tweaks. [July 2002, p.82]
-
Starts off as a strong racing title, but begins to fall short with an unorthodox campaign system and poor sound track.
