The graphics aren't fabulous, and the camera angle & constant backtracking tend to be a bit tedious. However, the authenticity of Scobby-Doo and the gang of Mystery, Inc. makes it worth at least at glance.
-
The Xbox version doesnt offer any real changes from the version released on other consoles last year, but the game still stays incredibly true to the TV show and offers all the fun and charisma that have made the series so endearing and popular over the years.
-
Official Xbox MagazineLevel design is well done, giving players the illusion of a non-linear world while deftly guiding them down a path. Well-placed hints ensure that Scooby never gets stuck. [Nov 2003, p.130]
-
The game is well designed and had decent depth to it.
-
If someone were looking for a platforming action game, there are better ones out there. If someone were looking for a Scooby-Doo game, there aren't.
-
The low price point and solid gameplay are fine excuses to pick this game up, but compared to other AAA Xbox games, Night of 100 Frights blends inconspicuously into the crowd.
-
A fun, light-weight platformer that's got solid gameplay, respectable productions values, and a great sense of humor to back it up.
-
Although this isn't one of the finest-looking games for the Xbox console, those who are even remotely familiar with the characters and stories in a typical Scooby-Doo episode may still get a kick out of it.
-
A solid, if standard platformer if you have some appreciation for Scooby-Doo or if you're looking for a game for the kids.
-
Play MagazineIt's the exact same game, which by last year's standards is still good, but couldn't they have at least added some bump mapping or something while we waited? [Sept 2003, p.81]
-
GameNowDoes an admirable job of using the Scooby license to its full potential. [Oct 2003, p.56]
-
With varied levels and several different abilities, there is certainly enough here to warrant the cheap price tag and should be an instant hit with kids.
-
The game does a good job of capturing the look of Scooby Doo, but has none of its spirit.
-
GMR MagazineIt's suitably goofy, but with a little bit of heart and a good bit of homage. [Dec 2003, p.82]
-
Xbox Nation MagazineCompetent, but not innovative. [Oct/Nov 2003, p.93]
-
Cheat Code CentralThe biggest disappointment concerning Scooby Doo! Night of 100 Frights, is that it doesn't look or play any differently on the Xbox than it did on the PS2 version which was released more than a year ago.

UterFeb 6, 2004The gameplay isn't super great, but they really captured the show here. I would seriously recommend this to a Scooby fan.
