The surprising thing about Scaler is the game is just plain fun to play. The gameplay is robust with reasonably challenging puzzles to solve, the control system is enjoyable as Scaler is easy to move and smooth, and the story is humorous with a solid plot.
-
What it lacks in innovation it more than makes up in style, humor and solid game mechanics. Controls feel smooth and responsive and the action is always brisk. The inclusion of evolutionary transformations is an especially nice touch.
-
If you are on a limited budget and need a game for the kiddies, than look no further than Scaler!
-
AceGamezLike a welcome blast from the past, taking us back into pure platform-filled levels with a great range of designs, all enhanced by the gameplay variation that the five transformations provide.
-
Play MagazineA sweet ride (especially for a value title) if you can stomach the almost blindingly psychedelic graphics and the talkiest character since Awesome Possum. [Dec 2004, p.81]
-
One of the biggest issues with this game is the common sense factor, meaning that the common sense of a person starts to balk at some of the things expected in the game.
-
Game InformerWow, generic platform games have reached a new pinnacle of dull and cliche. [Feb 2005, p.113]
