It's a fun and very atmospheric game, but with so much repetition throughout it can real old real quick. But then, all movies like this are more of the same so where's the surprise?
-
It's one thing to watch your favorite stars provide product placement in Hollywood blockbusters, quite another to force the BAWLS into your mouth as a condition of advancing through the game.
-
Xbox Nation MagazineForget the wonky camera and intermittent sputters when a new room loads - hell awaits, and it's genuinely desirable. [Apr 2003, p.93]
-
Official Xbox MagazineWith washed-out textures and an overall lack of detail, the visual impact doesn't match up to Xbox standards - and unfortunately, neither does the rest of the game. [June 2003, p.84]
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyA frantic pace and wonderful sense of creeping doom keep players running and gunning smoothly - well, except for that flaky camera. [May 2003, p.136]
-
While it's acceptable as a diversion, the action and atmospheric elements are too much at odds with one another.
-
You have a potentially scary story set in the isolation of space, but the aliens cease to become scary long before the story concludes. Everything becomes predictable and downright boring near the end, as the game spirals into mediocrity.
-
If you like your games with an involving storyline and easy, RLH will probably be right down your alley.
-
Tries to deliver a varied and immersive gaming experience, but just doesn't deliver.
-
Tense gunfights, unnerving corridor crawls, a surprisingly engaging plot, fantastic sound work, and gameplay that provides an entertaining mix of old-school action and exploration all help make this a solid science fiction gaming experience.
-
Its got some of the best voice acting around, some great suspense, a conglomeration of familiar sci-fi elements, and pretty neat weapon upgrades but the problematic camera and so-so puzzles means that RLH wont become a classic and will no doubt cause a few headaches.
-
GameNowWhy port a PS2 title that wasn't very good? It's like re-releasing "Cool As Ice" in theaters - no thanks. [June 2003, p.56]
-
Just a decent sci-fi story mixed with some rather unambitious gameplay. Nothing is done gratingly poorly, but neither is anything done with any sense of innovation or panache.
-
It wasnt scary, it wasnt enthralling, and the only feeling that it ever gave me was that I wasted 4 bucks to rent it.
-
The characters look nice enough, but the station itself is uniformly drab, making it easy to get lost. This situation isn't helped by a control system that seems designed to give you carpal-tunnel syndrome.

Feb 24, 2020Amazing story line once you really get into it. I just wish there was a sequel. They left it off with such a cliffhanger.
