  1. Red Dead Revolver could very well be THE game to keep the Old West genre from riding off into the sunset once and for all.
  2. Not as deep as "Manhunt" or "GTA" but some of the best fun you'll have with a bottle of firewater and some very old guns. [GamesMaster]
  3. It’s definitely better then Atari’s own "Dead Man’s Hand."

The omission of Live play is unfortunate, as being able to duel your friends, or take on co-operative missions would have added an extra depth to the overall experience and added to the replayability of the game.
  5. The creative use of player control to determine the gameplay and story delivery is an industry-leading feature.

When we say that Red Dead is a great little game, the emphasis is as much on the 'little' as it is on the 'great'. [June 2004, p.102]

A marginally entertaining third-person shooter whose only real asset is a decent level of personality.

This has to be the best western game ever in every department. Its got great graphics, gameplay, and a fun story. I'm not sure what the reviewers were looking for but maybe they need to look again. This is just a fun, solid, and great homage to spagetti western style game and i recommend it to anyone. Expand

The checkpoints take you back to the beginning of the stage in some parts so can be frustrating when you die. Parts I particularly struggled with Chapter 13: The Traitor, there are waves of enemies and cannons firing at you and no checkpoint. Chapter 16: Jailbreak, get lost easy and lots of doubling back with hardly any health top-ups. Chapter 24: Battle Finale, you have to quick draw/dead eye against Mr. Kelley which is really tough but after beating him you then have to fight him again as he runs around the town. Fail and you have to do the quick draw again which took me at least 15 times every time. Chapter 25: The Siege, what can I say about this level. Enemy and mini boss after enemy and mini boss. If your health goes down or your companion dies, restart from scratch. There's a timer so it's wave after wave. After that the rest was pretty easy but there's no doubt this game is tough and repetitive which is why my rating is on the lower side. What I did like about the game was that it introduced Westerns to the console which were few and far between at the time and a GREAT setting for adventure games. It also meant we got Red Dead Redemption so it started off an amazing series of games. Expand
