  1. It's obvious that Razes Hell is a budget title, but it's also obvious that Artech has done some really good things here.
  2. The nearly endless ways of offing Kewletts keeps the action fresh when the story starts to get a little slow.
  3. 70
It's adequate-looking, sounds OK, makes a passable attempt at humor, has a decent selection of weapons, a nice set of multiplayer options, and puts up a reasonable challenge. But it doesn't excel in any of these areas.
  4. It can be frustrating at times, but the light hearted humor and the solid gameplay will get you through some of its flaws.
  5. 70
The A.I. balancing makes the single player game is too difficult to be fun because players are forced to rely on their distance weapons to avoid confrontation. The multiplayer options are nice and make for some average online matches.

It's a very challenging game that is not recommended for the casual gamer - unless you want a real bad beating. Don't knock it, it's good for you.

If the difficulty curve were balanced a bit better, and the production values were higher -- meaning graphics, because the dialogue is awesome -- Raze's Hell would fare better in the score department.
  8. It should be said that while the general look and feel when playing the game is that of an unfinished work in progress, the satirical and dark comedy stands out as a saving grace.
  9. Missions are equally dull - blow up this and collect that, nothing you haven't seen before. You can have a mate join the killing in co-op mode, but that's only fun for an hour. After that you'll have exhausted most of Raze's Hell's potential - apart from its potential as a makeshift frisbee. [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
  10. Pretty average gaming action with a fun story. A good rental or discount buy.
  11. The game itself is based on a funny concept and it keeps the player amused throughout, with one liners from the Kewletts and the joke signs placed on the battlefields.

And for those of us who've had our fill of the Barneys and Elmos and other sickeningly sweet creatures forced onto children today … it's finally payback time!
  13. The game's large assortment of weapons, online and co-op play, and handful of fiendishly addictive mini games far outweigh the first generation graphics and frame rate issues.
  14. The gameplay is nowhere near as original as the setting, nor is it particularly spectacular for that matter, but just as you could do better, you could also do worse.

Thin humor does bring a few laughs to the satirical underpinnings. Not bad for 20 bucks. [June 2005, p.57]
  16. The game lacks the precision of a professional-level shooter to satiate the genre's dedicated players and its whole concept is undeniably more attractive on paper than in polygon.

Throughout the game, I felt no connection to Raze or the fate of his people, which hardly makes for a compelling experience. [June 2005, p.131]

Lacks several qualities found in the best of the genre, but its value in relation to its price makes this title a heavenly purchase for any shooter fan looking for the latest fix.

The videogame equivalent of all-you-can-eat shrimp week at Sizzler. [June 2005, p.86]
  20. Loads of mini-games, split-screen co-op play throughout the entire story mode and online game play, including deathmatches and a fiesty soccer skirmish, flesh out this budget-priced title.

For 20 bucks you can't afford to not get this game. It is a lot of fun - you will laugh - you will die.
