Game play is where Pro Racer Driver leaves most games behind. The computer A.I. is top notch, and reacts like a real driver and not just robot drones that are either set in one pattern, or trying to wreck your car purposely.
-
While the graphics are beautiful, the damage system is unbelievable, and the audio is right-on, the career mode is what really carries Pro Race Driver across the finish line. The amount of detail and attention Codemasters put into this mode is untouched by any other console racing game to date.
-
It could've been the four-wheeled equivalent of "Moto GP," technically brilliant racing online, but Xbox owners will have to simply settle for regular old technically brilliant racing.
-
Official Xbox MagazineA surprisingly fun arcade romp with a bit of story thrown in. [June 2003, p.85]
-
The story following McKane and his fictional personal battle in the real TOCA environment not only makes this stand out from other racers but it also opens the racer up to a wider mainstream appeal.
-
A racing game that puts drivers in the spotlight without sacrificing exciting on-track action.
-
The whole game feels bloated, like its trying to do too many things at once, and the new character-oriented career mode is uninspired.
