A stylish and spectacular gaming universe.
-
A surprisingly accomplished, by-the-books, futuristic racing game.
-
TotalGames.netIt's more indicative of the current crop of racing games that a 15 year-old concept feels so refreshing.
-
Powerdrome set out to create a white knuckle racer that will keep players on the edge of their seats, and that is certainly what they accomplished. For those players looking for an in-depth driving-sim, this is certainly not the place to look.
-
Edge MagazineIt looks great, and the boosting system means that, as a time-trial game, it's fantastic. If your progress wasn't so easily sabotaged by a thoughtless collision, it would be a fantastic racer, too. [June 2004, p.104]
-
Its initially brutal learning curve might deter a lot of people, but those who invest time to master it will find it to be a very satisfying and rewarding game. An entertaining title that could have been a classic.
-
Cheat Code CentralFor a budget title Powerdrome certainly has plenty going for it. It has great graphics, smooth animation, nice particle effects such as spark and smoke and several modes including time trials, quick race, championship and multi-player modes both system link and online.
-
Powerdrome doesn't improve on the genre as much as I was hoping.
-
Powerdrome appears to be just another futuristic racer. One advantage it does offer over other similar racers of the genre, however, is the ability to race against others on Xbox Live.
-
Powerdrome doesn't really stand out on its own but instead follows an essentially generic formula. If you are already a devout fan of futuristic racing titles, this competitively priced game may just be for you.
-
games(TM)Hurtling through dark tunnels to suddenly find yourself bathed in glorious sunshine as you emerge the other side is a breathtaking experience that is only superceded by the ridiculously fast speeds your Blades can reach. [June 2004, p.110]
-
Xbox Nation MagazineSadly, Powerdrome is one time trial after another, and even with a real opponent via Xbox Live, there's not much more to it. [Sept 2004, p.89]

UterOct 13, 2004It's a budget title that feels like it. The speed is nice, but the graphics, and courses are not.
