Wow, what a year can do. Game looks cartoony this year compared to last several years and very unpolished. I guess ripping out the ESPN stuff left a big void, but the replacements are no where near the quality of previous few years. The menu's look like something from a Sega Genesis. I've always praised the 2K NHL over EA's, but this year is disappointing.... I have no love Wow, what a year can do. Game looks cartoony this year compared to last several years and very unpolished. EA has caught up folks... Looks like they put their dev on NHL 06 instead of Madden where there was no competition... Let's pray that Take Two fixes this for their $60 Xbox 360 version.... Expand

It's a tough call on this one. In a lot of ways it's better than NHL 06, and in some ways it's worse. I love how customizable everything is. In particular the arena music and sliders. It's also got some nice goal variety which is extremely important when it comes to hockey games. On the other hand the graphics don't really impress, except for the goalie animations It's a tough call on this one. In a lot of ways it's better than NHL 06, and in some ways it's worse. On the other hand the graphics don't really impress, except for the goalie animations which are excellent. Unfortunately 2k sports is pretty slow on the draw with all the player transactions. The new announcers are the best in the business (bob cole anad harry neal - hockey night in canada's main men), but their script & acting aren't great here. I still approve of the change, just for authenticities sake. Hopefully they'll keep them next year, but improve on the smoothness, variety, and accuracy. I would categorize this as the best sim game of hockey available, but the game isn't as good as I hoped it would be. Considering this is the 5th game in the series and EA is working on their 15th, I have more faith in the 2k series going forward. Expand

  1. Hockey season is back on, and 2K series continues with improved passing controls and fun enforcer feature, all for a low-low budget price.

Rock legends such as Panthera and Jet Black Summer have made contributions to the soundtrack and many Brits will be familiar with the commentary of Bob Cole and Harry Neale.
  3. This is the best game of hockey that I have ever played.
