  1. It'd be a little more worthwhile if an arcade-perfect Metal Slug 3 had been included in the collection, but this is still a must-have for those of us who fondly remember our local arcade.
  2. They are thumb-numbingly difficult, though with infinite continues this challenge is undermined – making completing either game a matter of simple devotion rather than skill.
  3. There just aren't many games like this being produced, and thankfully the Metal Slug series continues to offer astounding quality.
  4. We should be glad they included both in this release and not separated them as Metal Slug 4 is the far lesser of the games presented here.

Finally, everyone will be able to see everything these games have to offer. [June 2005, p.127]
  6. If you're reading this review, having never played a Metal Slug game before, then all you need to know is that it's an insanely over-the-top 2D action game in which you play the role of a commando who kills a lot of people.
  7. Great for fans who want to collect the better older games and be able to play them whenever they want without hooking up a Neo-Geo or finding an arcade that has this one in it.
  8. At this point, though, it's likely that only those players who have already acquired a taste for Metal Slug's rich blend of crazy, manic violence and goofy humor will fully appreciate this package.
  9. This set isn't a horrible beginning for those looking to introduce themselves to the Metal Slug series, but last years Metal Slug 3 offers up no unlimited continues, the original development team's work, and a much more "Metal Slug" feel.
  10. They are not bad games, but nothing you have to run to the store and pick up this instant. However, when you put the two games together you can get a lot of gameplay for the buck.

Awesome games! Just pure and great quality, metal slug 5 is better than 4 imo, but both are great. The music of metal slug 5 is justAwesome games! Just pure and great quality, metal slug 5 is better than 4 imo, but both are great. The music of metal slug 5 is just wonderful, a masterpiece. Just so much fun to play, very good but not perfect controls, some unfair moments, the difficulty is brutal but with some practice you can be very good at this game, some prisoners reward you with weapons, others don't. Other thing that i like about this game is that almsot every weapon is very useful, you don't have the worst weapon of the series (the dot gun - D gun) you just have the best weapons ever, including the double machine guns. The mechanized slug vehicles are the best i saw in the series. The art and the graphics are improved and you can enjoy the beautiful level design while you kill all the enemies you can! The characters are good but they are the same ad ms2 & ms3, they should keep the same as ms4. Bosses of ms4 are more balanced and not so insane as ms3. Metal slug 4 is not the weakest of the series, metal slug 7 is the weakest. But anyway, i really enjoyed this game and i recommend it to every gamer. One Of the best run & gun games ever.

While I really love this series and these games, it's a shame they're arcade perfect. More specifically, the problem is that there While I really love this series and these games, it's a shame they're arcade perfect. More specifically, the problem is that there are unlimited continues. This means anyone can beat the game under most any circumstances. If I was blindfolded and forced to wear boxing gloves, I'd still be able to win easily. This is a major oversight considering the type of gamer that is into the metal slug series. If the game was like Metal Slug 3 on xbox and had limited continues, I would probably rate this package a 9/10 - great games. Full Review »
