An average game that employs the same battle system as numerous other Japanese-style dungeon crawls. Unfortunately, when you have seen so many, it is hard to get excited about another.
-
Official Xbox MagazineIts fundamentals are solid enough, but too bland and redundant. [Jan 2003, p.78]
-
Game InformerWhat the deal with the blander-than-bland texturing? If I wanted to be lulled to sleep, I would read a selection from Minnesota's penal code. [Feb 2003, p.104]
-
As it is only the most hardened fan would find any enjoyment here and we can only recommend that the door be locked and the key thrown away to this particular dungeon.
-
The combat is engaging, but it grows repetitive and is extremely time consuming.
-
Play MagazineA tinge of "Eent Horizon" looms in the air, but is under-realized due to the puzzling nature of the control. [Mar 2003, p.64]
-
Xbox Nation Magazine"Diablo" without the story, characters to converse or interact with, variety in graphics or, well, fun. It's just a tired, slow trudge through 10 levels of a dungeon you really have no motivation to enter in the first place. [Winter 2002, p.108]
-
The same players who found relentless, party-balancing corridor fighting ultimately frustrating in a cute, cartoony game like "Evolution Worlds" won't find it any more refreshing here just because it's wearing a darker, spookier "Aliens" costume.
-
Cheat Code CentralThis game is more of an action adventure without the combat. It's also a little shy on action and adventure.
-
Any kind of story or action present in the game is quickly drowned by the boring repetition that drags this title down like a quagmire.
-
It's just a mindless and pointless and boring dungeon crawl. In fact, it's a bit of an insult to other great dungeon crawlers like "Diablo" and "Baldur's Gate" to even call this a crawler at all.
-
So devoid of anything worth merit, that it is almost comical.
-
Overall, it's an experience that redefines the word "bland."
-
Does one thing and one thing only: it adds one more RPG to the Xbox line-up, and whether or not that's a good thing depends on how desperate you are for a dungeon crawl.
