The controls are good but the camera angle was always an issue after a cutscene. Waiting several seconds to correct the angle is not a welcomed featured.
-
One of the more impressive children's movie to be made into a game because of how well the game plays, and not how deep nor how well it looks.
-
It doesn't force you through level after level of mindless item collection. Instead, it boasts a number of well-designed levels that feature a variety of play styles.
-
What is somewhat surprising is that the gameplay is pretty solid for a game aimed squarely at kids, the voice actors do a good job of capturing the inflections of the film's characters, and the game features a nice boon of unlockable content to make up for the short quest.
-
Game InformerThe gameplay is simple yet heavily varied, which in turn keeps the action fresh and fun. [Aug 2005, p.98]
-
While it may be quite a simple adventure at that, it should definitely be checked out by any fan of the movie, as Madagascar will undoubtedly prove to be a humorous game to help you relax and pass the time.
-
Surprisingly enjoyable stuff while it lasts, and just as amusing as the film. Short and easy, but only because it's primarily aimed at the kind of people who still having trouble fastening their shoes (and we're talking about the Velcro ones here). [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
-
It's not exactly a memorable quest, but Madagascar is still a good time, especially to fans of the movie who can't get enough of its main characters.
-
The whole thing can be finished in just a couple of sittings. However, fans of the film, both young and old, would do well to give it a shot, as it's an entertaining platformer that complements the movie quite well.
-
The multiplayer components mean the whole family can get involved, especially the mini-golf which is great.
-
After going in with low expectations I was actually pleasantly surprised. Still, it lacks originality, instead choosing to tack together a lot of undeveloped and tiresome gameplay mechanics.
-
As if the gameplay wasn't stale enough already, every few minutes you are treated with long speeches from characters in the game.
