Round 2 benefits from all the positive aspects that the fans and critics have mentioned thus far. Unfortunately, fans of the series that like to use face buttons instead of the Total Punch Control system will find that they've been shafted. The new haymaker punches and special combinations can only be performed using the analog stick and blocking still requires use of the stick as Round 2 benefits from all the positive aspects that the fans and critics have mentioned thus far. Unfortunately, fans of the series that like to use face buttons instead of the Total Punch Control system will find that they've been shafted. The new haymaker punches and special combinations can only be performed using the analog stick and blocking still requires use of the stick as well. These omissions are likely a deliberate way of bolstering total punch control users Vs button users. It's sad to see game makers adopt this kind of mentality. This, combined with the fact that the new haymakers are somewhat unbalancing and unrealistic make for some serious drawbacks to what otherwise could've been the best and most realistic boxing game ever. Fight Night Round 2 is a great game at its core, but some will find that the experience is ruined by a few poor design choices. Expand

Good Boxing game. Graphics, Sound and Controls are all right on the money here. A few minor drawback I experienced was the "Seasick" motion of Ringside Camera. But this can easily solved by switching to another camera setting. The game offers many different angle shots to choose from. And of course my other big gripe was the hella annoying ringside Sportscaster. Every other word he said Good Boxing game. Graphics, Sound and Controls are all right on the money here. Every other word he said had to do with "Haymaker" this or "Haymaker" that. Half expected him to say "This is a Haymaker of a Fight ! Haaaaymaker !" Anyways, I'm not a big Boxing Enthusiast, but this game made me feel like Drago from Rocky IV and that I tell you is loads of fun ! Expand

The best realistic boxing title we've played, and few fight fans will be disappointed. [Apr 2005, p.114]

A few technical glitches aside, it's a pretty great turn out from EA, and were Fight Night Round 3 to be a boxer itself, it wouldn't win by total knockout, but would definitely go the twelve rounds and come out on top.
