  1. Though derivative, Egg Mania provides a perspective on the Tetris formula that's fresh enough and an adequate amount of gameplay variety to keep puzzle fans engaged.
  2. Truly addictive personalities will find a new puzzle challenge, but Egg Mania: Eggstreme Madness just doesn't have the jam to hold the attention of less obsessive gamers.

It's just a game concept that wears off quickly.

A harmless diversion that any "Tetris" addict will be able to pick up and beat in an hour or two. [Winter 2002, p.102]

The whole egg theme is a bit lame at 1st, but admitedly it grew on me. Now I kinda like the eggs. The game plays similar to tetris but there's an egg person on screen grabbing and arranging all the blocks.. Instead of making lines, you must make a structurally sound platform with the blocks. If there's too many spaces in your platform, it will collapse and you'll be back at square one. The goal is to get your little egg guy to the top of the screen using the built platform to stand on. It's solid and addictive enough to become a permanent fixture in the puzzle gaming genera, but I think the title and egg theme keep it from mainstream popularity. I now like this puzzler better than my bust a move and dr mario (tetris is still king). Egg Mania is much more impressive than you might expect. Full Review »
