Nowhere near the polish it should have after being put off from it's original release date of last October 26th to April 5th of this year. I don't understand why a game of this craptitude was put off for another 7 months if it still plays like this. It makes me wonder how bad it was last Fall if it plays like this after an extra half year of tweaking. Your teamates do show more promise than the bone-headed squad A.I. in the R6 games, but they get lazy real fast in the field. Should've either been tweaked for about another year or it should have been scrapped altogether. I waited on this half-assed garbage to arrive at my door like an old slutty ex-girlfriend coming back for a quick booty call, basically another familiar feeling Full Spectrum Warrior type of experience if you will, but like usually when that time finally comes, you start to remember why you got bored with her dirty a** in the first place. If you are a fan of Full Spectrum Warrior but always wanted to have a little more controll of your soldiers, this is for you. Add a little Rainbow Six and you got it. Again, I continue to be bemused by reviewers lauding things I can't stand (like Halo2 and Brothers in Arms) and assassinating titles I enjoy very much, like Pariah and this! Yeah, it's not breaking boundaries, yeah it can be a little glitchy sometimes. If you love military themes, hate shooting green globs and squashy aliens that shriek and run away and enjoy a good old team deathmatch that plays better thoughtfully than thoughtlessly (Halo2). A perfect blend of Rainbow Six and Full Spectrum Warrior. The Ready, Team, Fire, Assist formation really works in this stunning game. The gameplay is top notch. Enemies run for cover and fall from balconies and rooftops when they are shot. They even fire their weapons as they are falling. When they kill you the last thing you see is the enemy shaking their weapon in the air. There are A perfect blend of Rainbow Six and Full Spectrum Warrior. This game is a must have if you like FPS. Total sleeper hit. Expand

Not bad, Its a combo of Counter Strike, meets Rainbow Six. Graphics are good, gameplay is a little glitchy. One game I played was 2 vs 6 and for some reason the 2players on one team could not be killed. But that was only one game. Weapons are a few. Controlls are tight. Finally, its the same price as a DVD, how can you go wrong?

Almost everything that can go wrong in a tactical shooter DOES go wrong in Close Combat: First to Fight. Dreary level designs, nasty graphics, broken physics and collision detection, tacked-on audio, terrible music, and amazingly bad voice acting are only the beginning. First off, if the Marines were as stupid as in this game, I wouldn't even be alive right now. These Marines are tactically challenged idiots that seem like they used Doom as a training tool for combat on the battlefield. Don't get me wrong -- Doom is one of the best games ever made, but since it's a run-'n-gun shooter, it's definitely not suitable for battlefield training. This already awful game is made even worse by awful play-balancing: terrorists are nearly invincible sharpshooters, while your team-mates are remarkably awful shots that can only take a bullet or two. Couple that with the fact that the game ends if a squadmate dies, and you've got an unplayable mess of a game. Seriously, if the US Marines were really involved with this dreck, then the particular Marines involved need to go back to boot camp. I am not a Marine, but it's almost immediately obvious that this is NOT what it's like to be a US Marine. If it isn't clear up to this point: Don't play this game. Expand

A thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding game, providing a military alternative to Rainbow Six and immersing the player in an urban combat environment like few games can.
  2. Gets some things right, but if the poor AI and numerous glitches were ironed out then it could have been one of the finest tours of duty around. As it stands, it's an excellent multiplayer game that just can't compete with some of its rivals.
  3. Despite the intervention of the US Marines, there are some glaring flaws, which have somehow been overlooked.
