    Amazing game. Absolutely blown away. If your a fan of Silent Hill then your in for a treat. My kids got me this for Christmas and I'm enjoying it immensely. On PS5 you get the visual upgrade compared to the XboxSeriesX version and the Haptic feedback immersion. A must play.

    It's a bit complicated. The game was not what I expected. It wasn't nearly as scary as I hoped, nor did I didn't find a ton of mystery or reasons to revisit. But overall, It was a great story told through a simple and short playthrough.

    Some short sequences are scary, you get a ton of information and detail if you search in the correct places. The controls were nice for the type of game    It's a bit complicated. Bloober Team has created a uniquely oppressive atmosphere that lends itself well to the dark and mature story they're telling, and they tell it surprisingly well. Bloober Team has created a uniquely oppressive atmosphere that lends itself well to the dark and mature story they're telling, and they tell it surprisingly well. The voice actors all do a stellar job in portraying their characters and conveying the varying emotions that drive the story. The major selling point of The Medium, that being the split world is beautifully portrayed. Both the real and spirit world are stunning to look at, as if they were taken straight from the paintings of Zdzislaw Beksinski. There are however some moments in the game where textures take too long to load that did take me out of the experience slightly but this can be excused as the game is also trying to render two synced worlds at once. Another immersion breaker but one that can also be overlooked is the facial animations that do appear quite stiff in most circumstances, this is however a AA game so I can understand. Probably the biggest letdown for me was the gameplay side of things. I would've appreciated at least a little bit of combat and more interaction with the world. There are moments throughout that just had me running back and forth that would have been enriched further with some combat, possibly against smaller enemy types, but this is just my opinion. To end on a more positive note, I must say another big standout of the game was the music and sound design. It managed to be both haunting and emotional, it did after all come from a legendary composer. Overall, The Medium pleasantly surprised me and I hope that this victory from Bloober Team means that they aren't done with the world of The Medium. There's so much potential for a sequel that I hope is coming.… Expand

    Jugué la versión de series s y va muy fluida a excepción de 2 partes donde si se caía el Frame como a 10 fps, sin embargo es una experiencia buena, ya hacia falta un juego lineal que contara una buena historia.

    Cudowne odwzorowanie Polski z lat 70, miła fabuła trzymająca w napięciu. Bardzo dobrze się bawiłem podczas gry, lecz w pewnym momencie nie ma się już ochoty podchodzić do gry ponieważ zaczyna się robić oczywista i nudna, ale potem powraca ciekawość i chęć gry do samego końca historii

    I played this game with the game pass and i have to say, it made me feel warm inside. It's very reminiscent of the original Silent Hill games, with its genius concept, creepy atmosphere and story, and the FIXED CAMERA ANGLES. I'll admit those were kind of frustrating at times, and some of the Save points weren't placed at the best of moments. But overall I had a great experience, and II played this game with the game pass and i have to say, it made me feel warm inside. The sound is great and is quite immersive. The artwork is great but more subdued unlike bloober's Observer System Redux where the artwork is direct in terms of visuals.

    The Medium handles the dual screen quite well and I was a bit skeptical about it but pleasantly surprised that they handled it well.

    As for the cons: 30 fps, in between screen glitches take a point away.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A fun game. I only played this since it was free on gamepass and supposed to show of the series x graphics. It looked at times, mostly it just looked like a last gen game. There were a lot of cheap deaths where the controls were just not responsive enough or it wasnt obviouse where you could move which was annoying. This is more of a 7.5 than an 8 to me. For the most part the story flowed smoothly with logical puzzles that could be solved. A few times i looked at guides when i was stuck since i dont like wasting time, i think it was the tanks and one other point. There were several times where i got stuck due to movement (running away etc.) Although the game was creepy at times, it never really delivered on true "jump out of your seat" scares. Its more of a sci fi, adventure puzzler.

    Worth playing if you have a series x, there's not much else to push its power at the moment. Its not a game of the year game though, something to play after you finish the games you really want to play.    … Expand

    Один из интереснейших пройденных мною проектов за последнее время и этот год. На удивление затянула и очень понравилась данная игрушка. Не хоррор ни разу. Это скорее бродилка. Очень приятная, красивая бродилка. К прохождению любителей    Играл на старте.     100% Recomendado , he de decir que no esperaba nada de él y me tiene enganchado.
    Jugado en una Xbox Series X en un LG SM 9800 de 55" y terminada la historia principal.

    Although I've played all of bloober teams since layers of fear I haven't been a big fan of their work. Generally I find their games get a little repetitive after a while and I encounter issues like annoying chase scenes.

Uncovering what lies at the heart of this tragedy is what kept me going. It’s a shame that reviews from both users and journos completely ignore just how good the story is. If you have an interestCome for the genre. Stay for the story. I’d wanted to play an old school tank controls game but the Cold War setting is put to magnificent use. In this chilling and mysterious journey, you explore an abandoned resort to learn not only what caused the massacre in the past, but also the lost memories of your own past. Along the way you encounter spirits, demons, and so much more as you try to solve the mysteries of the world and survive it's horrors. WhatThe Medium is without a doubt one of the best horror games I've ever played. In this chilling and mysterious journey, you explore an abandoned resort to learn not only what caused the massacre in the past, but also the lost memories of your own past. Along the way you encounter spirits, demons, and so much more as you try to solve the mysteries of the world and survive it's horrors. What makes this game unique is the screen often splits into two as you're playing allowing you to control Marianne in both the real world and the purgatory-like world, which adds a very unique element unlike any game I've ever played. The music in this game, created by the Silent Hill composer, is also absolutely wonderful and really helps carry the journey from beginning to end. If I have only one complaint it's that the character models sometimes load a little oddly which can really break immersion, but this is a minor gripe of a beautiful game. With compelling puzzles, heart-racing survival moments, and so many mysteries the game was nearly impossible to put down, this game is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys a good physiological horror.… Expand

    The Horror genre is probably the hardest to get right. Despite what I expected going into this, it became more of a mystery with ambience than an outright horror, but I actually enjoyed it more because of this. The story surprised me - it has depth, intrigue and emotion. It takes a while to get completely invested, but it pays off towards the crescendo.     Whiile the "puzzles" were simple enough, I did find them a little tiresome at times. I was desperate to progress the story and dive further into the world, and felt that the game would've benefited with less of those instances of trying to force player input for the sake of it. Even the stealth sequences with The Maw felt a little awkward from a gameplay perspective, despite nailing the atmosphere and tension. I do understand that the "walking simulator" style of games isn't for everyone though.    … Expand

    Great story telling with a varied puzzle like game play combined with a walking simulator of sorts. The game catches you and doesn't let you out until the whole story is told, the only thing its letting it back is the lack cluster game play mechanics

    This is a really great game and people who say otherwise probably didn't get far into the game itself. Yeah there were some artifacting on certain parts of the game when I played it pre patched but other than that I think it was a masterpiece storywise. It's one of those games that messes with your mind.

    I give this game a 10 because of plot, soundtrack, and, especially of it’s ending (I was really impressed) and the very main reason i rate this high is todays lack of single player games. And Medium is an atmospheric, nice game! Low budget production and Blooperteam inexperience explains cons like sometimes flawed game design (staged runs from the Beast) archaic gameplay elements (remindsI give this game a 10 because of plot, soundtrack, and, especially of it’s ending (I was really impressed) and the very main reason i rate this high is todays lack of single player games. And Medium is an atmospheric, nice game! Low budget production and Blooperteam inexperience explains cons like sometimes flawed game design (staged runs from the Beast) archaic gameplay elements (reminds of Syberia which was released about 20 years ago!). Otherwise there are numbers of cool/wow episodes, great acting, amazing picture quality (with so-so optimisation on XSX). I really liked split/screen mixing through the game, it feels perfectly balanced to me. In conclusion, Medium is an awesome game!     Great original story. Character development was good. Atmosphere was great. The ending was meh. Only glaring issue is the lack of gameplay. A game can be an artful masterpiece without being a walking simulator.

    By far the best game ever released by Bloober team. Great and emotional story with opressing atmosphere. Good graphics, great voice acting and simple but clever puzzles. Overall a great experience and a must play for those who have game pass.

    I was waiting for this game. In these years of endless remakes, remasters and sequels I above all treasure fresh, new, weird and brave projects.
    But after release of the Medium I decided to check metacritic before throwing ma money in the screen, because, well, I have responsibilities and try to avoid impulsive purchases.
    People was writing that game was boring and meh overall. I started having second thoughts and didn't bought it. Then I got game pass as a women's day present and I got opportunity to check the game for free basically.
    And now I want to also buy it, so it will stay in my collection.
    It's beautiful, and perfect for people that enjoy similar stuff (well duh that's why genres exist)
    I'm giving this game 10, because it doesn't deserve the ~70% score it has now, and I want to push the rating a bit. Now, objectively it's probably 9, but still!)

    [STORY] is interesting and all tangled in a good way. I was rereading in-game notes of different characters to understand the chronology and events, and it was part of the fun.
    [DESIGN] I'm sorry, but I can't stand whining about graphics. I believe that design is far more important. And artists behind this piece did really good job!
    [GAMEPLAY] Split screen for different worlds? Fresh and new. Puzzles? It's like Syberia, but on easy setting. I have found it very comforting, because I was invested in the story and atmosphere. For me hard annoying puzzles tend to ruin all the fun, when I have a story to worry about. If you wanna play hard puzzles, please play Baba is You for example.
    [IS IT SCARY] This CANNOT be universal.
    I personally felt uneasy about the main monster, it has just hit the spot. But also I've heard about people getting pissed off because of the uhh.. scary disturbing events in story? I'm sorry again, but this is a horror! If you are relatively easy triggered, pretty please, just don't play/watch/read horrors, okay? And for the record, there's nothing, not a single line or word in dialogues or notes, that would say anything controversial OR like even pronouncing "bad" words/names of universally bad things. Dialogues made with attention to this, and leave a very precise feeling that yeah of course, BAD things are BAD. And once again, it's a horror, you can't be scared without some nerve-tickling hints and meanings.

    [TLDR]
    - Should you try it?
    Do you like "walking simulators" story driven games, like Dear Esther, Everybody Gone to the Rapture, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, What Remains of Edith Finch? Then YES, definitely.
    - Don't like those? Please just don't play the Medium then, you will end up giving it low rating, just because it's not your genre.
    - Unfamiliar with those games I mentioned?
    Well ask yourself if you are up to watching a movie (sometimes intense, again, it's a horror) and making choices along the way.

    Il love the gameplay with 2 screen 1 for each world.The story and the atmosphere is good. If you have the gamepass and you like silent hill, i recommend.

    Fantastic game. You definitely should try this one. Great story, not so scary, but it has some moments. And really well depicted soviet time atmosphere and homes style. Waiting for chapter 2

    Beautiful game with an amazing history! The gameplay is smooth and nostalgic, but the transition of the two worlds is a completely new gen experience! It is unbelievable the score and some reviews clearly to underscore the game.

    A very enjoyable campaign with some striking visuals, and some very well-written characters. The voice acting is top-notch as well. If you're on Xbox, this is a must-play.

    Es un juego que no desepciona la historia es profunda y te sientes atrapado de inicio a fin, la forma con la que juega con la narrativa es genial y la historia es muy interesante por lo que te sientes con la necesidad de terminarla, y te hace rejugarla sin importar cuantas veces la has terminado.

    A very pleasant game. All the negative reviews are from negative people. It's not Silent Hill, it's not horror, it's not action. It's an atmospheric narrative adventure. A sequel is essential.

    Hearkens back to the 3rd person horror of the late 90s-early 2000s (like Silent Hill 1/2/3/4) but The Medium also manages to find it's own niche and is successful in doing so.

    Music. The technical details. The second world rendering makes you want to play it on two monitors (or separate TVs). The atmosphere in the world of Medium. Details in the setting. Easy achievements. It's on Xbox Game Pass. Surprise enemies. Puzzles Rare objects flashing in the background.
    The bad: Very short. There is no way to expand the story of this game in this    The good:

The camera angles are a work of art. It takes control away from the games and makes you vulnerable at times.     To start with The Medium has fantastic mechanics from the way the split the screen view to switch between worlds everything just works so well.
    The atmosphere really draws you in and at certain moments you really do feel the dread that's encroaching on you.

    The visuals & voice acting is beyond what i was expecting, finding out more of the story as you go along is such a treat.

    A very good game, history feels like it has much more to be developed, but it's excellent and it has an essence to old psychological terror games. You have to improve the gameplay, but it serves very well in what you want to play as a game. Very recommendable.

    Um jogo que te prende e supera as suas expectativas inicias (negativas). Logo de inicio o jogo desperta uma certa estranheza por conta de sua mecânica na movimentação de seu personagem, o qual se assemelha muito as franquias de jogos antigos do mesmo gênero, inicialmente isso é um ponto negativo, porém, aos poucos você vai se envolvendo com a história do jogo, e isso acaba extinguindo essaUm jogo que te prende e supera as suas expectativas inicias (negativas). Logo de inicio o jogo desperta uma certa estranheza por conta de sua mecânica na movimentação de seu personagem, o qual se assemelha muito as franquias de jogos antigos do mesmo gênero, inicialmente isso é um ponto negativo, porém, aos poucos você vai se envolvendo com a história do jogo, e isso acaba extinguindo essa dificuldade de "aceitação" com a sua mecânica (isso também vai para a ideia de jogar entre dois mundos, eu terminei o jogo achando essa implementação de jogar entre os dois mundos como algo fantástico, algo que eu não achava inicialmente). Agora vamos para o ponto negativo: Falta otimização, durante o jogo você percebe erros de renderização, quedas de frames em alguns cenários, e as vezes aparece pequenas partículas coloridas durante o jogo (não com tanta frequência quanto os dois primeiros itens citados), no geral, um polimento faria bem para o The Medium. Esse jogo merece uma nota 85~87, não é excelente, porém não é horrível como alguns comentaram por aqui, apesar de seus pontos negativos, não merece nota negativa e muito menos nota zero.… Expand

    Beautiful to look at and Marianne is an interesting character. The story is a little obtuse at times. Def worth spending a few hours with. The atmosphere is amazing.

    This game is hilarious. It’s a homage of the classic type of survival horror, but it’s kind more of a psychological thriller. This game is definitively *not* for all the players but the atmosphere, the picture, the soundtrack and even though the gameplay, it’s way too cool. I would give a solid 85-88 overall.

    The game has good story and interesting plot, the visuals in this game are great and the camera angles are amazing it gets you in the mood of the game also the sound track is solid, the bad side of the game is that its short i took me around 6 hours to finish the game and i wish we got more information about the "other side"

    Si eres un jugador al que le gusta tomarse con calma los videojuegos, tratar de disfrutarlos al máximo y te gusta el tipo de género del que trata The Medium, te recomiendo jugarlo, es una experiencia muy buena y con la cual se pasan horas bastante entretenidas, eso sí, el juego es corto pero con la suficiente capacidad de mantenerte enganchado al mismo hasta que sin darte cuenta te loSi eres un jugador al que le gusta tomarse con calma los videojuegos, tratar de disfrutarlos al máximo y te gusta el tipo de género del que trata The Medium, te recomiendo jugarlo, es una experiencia muy buena y con la cual se pasan horas bastante entretenidas, eso sí, el juego es corto pero con la suficiente capacidad de mantenerte enganchado al mismo hasta que sin darte cuenta te lo pasas. En lo personal me gustó mucho y vale la pena vivir la experiencia encarnando la piel de su protagonista.… Expand

    Grandisimo juego, te mantiene en tensión toda la partida y tiene una historia genial y muy bien hilada. Las mecanicas para los puzles con el doble mundo son muy originales, quizá se les podría haber sacado muchisimo más jugo del que tienen pero esperemos que si hay una segunda parte lo hagan.

    Un juego bastante sobresaliente en todos los aspectos, aunque su estilo de juego no es para todos y no vayan con la idea de que estarán matando demonios. Totalmente recomendado.

    Despite clunky animations, repetitive gameplay and some technical issues with the Xbox Series X version, I completed The Medium twice. Its dual-reality design, art direction and brilliant soundtrack often made me stop to take in a view or relish the music. Its mature story and atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill helped a lot too.     The exclusive Microsoft - The Medium is yet another significant milestone in the catalogue of psychological horror games from Bloober Team, which is increasingly becoming one of the best studios in this area. Without hiding where it comes from, it's an experience horror fans won't want to miss, no matter how short. The duality approach is interesting and has enormous potential. I hope that the Bloober Team will get to work on it again and develop it more in-depth.
