There isn’t a lot to complain about with The Last Faith. I would have liked a little bit of signposting as it is very easy to get lost, but the style and the crunching combat more than make up for this. With a bit of a better map and a couple more clues, The Last Faith would have been very close to a perfect score.

A new title that brings together elements of the Souls, Castlevania, and Metroidvania genres, although along the way it loses its identity. With a tailor-made difficulty and a good challenge that will entertain you as much as possible. With a large number of bosses and an extensive map to explore.

The Last Faith is a mostly good game, with a few moments of brilliance, and a few more that drove me into a rage. It’s a beautiful, great-sounding game with decent combat and a world I found intriguing. In a year of stellar releases, this is one to, at the very least, add to your back catalog.

Although it does a lot right, The Last Faith ends up feeling unnecessary and forgettable, especially in such a super-saturated genre.

The Last Faith is inspired by some giants of the video game scene, but while it is neither a Bloodborne in 2D nor a Castlevania, it manages to create its own dark and bewitching universe. It still needs to free itself from its influences to override them and become a must-have game. It is a good first step with much more to offer than a shiny outer layer that makes you want to see the rest of Kumi Souls Game’s work. We are confident in their potential: all it takes is a little faith.
