Nov 7, 2023Sonic Superstars is a phenomenal old-school title with a modern twist. Can you defeat Dr Eggman and save the day? Play it alone or team up with 3 other gamers. Either way, you'll love everything on offer.

Oct 22, 2023Sonic Superstars is a game that is inspired by the Sonic classics, but has some differences. It has a multiplayer focus, so speed is not as important as in other Sonic games. However, it's still fun to run around the different levels and use the abilities of the different characters and the Chaos Emerald. The game has more than 20 levels, but its weak point is the bosses, which are very difficult and frustrating. Despite that, Sonic Superstars is a good Sonic game that fans of the hedgehog and new players may like.

Oct 23, 2023Sonic Superstars won’t change anyone’s mind on the Sonic franchise, but instead serves as somewhat of a soft reboot. It’s drawing from the strength of the old games, while introducing new zones, new abilities and 4-player co-op. At its very core it’s still playing things save and doesn’t change too much about the established formula, but it lays an excellent foundation on which Sega could and should built upon, as unlikely as that is, given the franchises history.

Nov 5, 2023Sonic Superstars represents a new return to Sonic's roots, with plenty of frenzy and speed, attractive graphics, adequate sound and of course the 2D feel that has accompanied the blue hedgehog so much throughout his career. Two jarring notes: the overly confused co-op and a longevity that is not top-notch for a game sold at full price.

Oct 20, 2023A gratifying new spin on SEGA's iconic blue blur, Sonic Superstars introduces co-op and a smattering of other neat ideas for the best 2D Sonic game since Sonic Mania.
-
Oct 18, 2023Sonic Superstars may not keep up with certain other Sonic side-scrollers of the past, and level design and boss battles can be frustrating at times, but it’s arguably the best 3D take on the 2D Sonic series to date. Even if some of the new ideas could use extra polish, it's still a fun adventure for Sonic and friends from start to finish.

Nov 10, 2023Sonic Superstars is a great Sonic game that steps outside its comfort zone for the series. When they have done that in the past, it hasn’t always panned out for them. Superstars manages to make it work though even with the seemingly pointless time attack and battle modes. The campaign is enjoyable, the new character is interesting, and everything just looks and sounds delightful. There is little to complain about and once you get used to the new style, it really works on all levels.

Oct 22, 2023This pretty platformer simply stays in its comfort zone, which will surely please iconic fans at the risk of chilling others.
-
Nov 1, 2023Treat Sonic Superstars as another 2D Sonic adventure and it’s fine. Treat it as anything more, like it was advertised, and you will be disappointed.
-
Oct 30, 2023While Sonic Superstars demonstrates creativity and innovation in the Classic Sonic formula, it falls short of reaching the heights set by its predecessors. Some levels are just frustrating and not enjoyable. What we really need is simply Sonic Mania 2.

Oct 23, 2023Sonic Superstars is at the convergence of trends in the evolution of the franchise. It has an old-school spirit that would not be denied by the Mania episode, as in a continuity of the original philosophy, but with modern tools and a much more discreet use of 3D than in Colors. Between tradition and modernity, Sonic Superstars has everything it takes to bring together young and old, die-hard fans and new players alike, behind the spiky, colourful gang, who, to mark the occasion, welcome a very endearing new member among them. After the slightly odd modernisation gap with Frontiers, which offered a more realistic vision of the franchise, it is great to see our favourite hedgehog and his team racing back to the tried recipe at the core of Sonic's success: a cute, side-scrolling platform game that takes players for a helluva ride at breakneck speeds.
