    Dear Microsoft, you've bought so many studios now and this is what you have to show for? Microsoft, Bethesda, Arkane, Sony with thir TLoU pc port, now I feel this is the trend, this is the downfall of the AAA industry, but they need to fall if we want change, that won't happen since most people have such low standards now and just keep paying for awful products, FIFA anyone? I am just grateful that we have the indie gaming industry which has kept me from losing faith in gaming.

    PS. Please just make wholesome singleplayer games, I can't believe this abomination is from the same people that made Prey and Dishonored some of the best games. Bethesda I hope you get your things together with Starfield because if you don't after that I think you're done as a first party developer.     It's incredibly disappointing that a once-great studio like Arkane has released such a weak game like Redfall. It's unclear what kind of game they were trying to make, as none of its aspects work properly, whether you're playing solo or co-op. After playing for around 7 hours, I found the game to be extremely boring and reminiscent of low-budget    Just a defective game made by Arkane…

    It's incredibly disappointing that a once-great studio like Arkane has released such a weak game like Redfall. It's unclear what kind of game they were trying to make, as none of its aspects work properly, whether you're playing solo or co-op.

    After playing for around 7 hours, I found the game to be extremely boring and reminiscent of low-budget titles found on subscription services. It seems to want to emulate an episode of the Far Cry series but falls far short, feeling more like Generation Zero than the luxurious open-world experiences created by Ubisoft (something I never expected to say).

    From a style perspective, the game isn't bad, but that's about all it has going for it. The open-world approach lacks activities, gunfight mechanics are weak, and there is a huge number of technical issues (framerate drops, blurry textures and a ton of bugs) as well as high input lag, which is inappropriate for FPS. The skill-tree is also lacking, among other issues.

    In conclusion, I would give Redfall a 3/10 just for its style. It's a shame to see such a talented studio produce such a lackluster product.    … Expand

I think this is fixable with story DLC, which may be already in development & be released this fall. Something like COD Zombies but with Vampires would be fun & is most likely planned.     A shooter based around killing bloodsucking vampires made by Arkane should have been one of the best games Bethesda has to offer and yet, it seems we've received the exact opposite. An unfinished, unoptimised, soulles piece of digital garbage for the cost of 75$. By far the most disappointing release of the year.

The city itself as a location is quite compact, at first impression a little smaller even than the map in Battleroyal like Fortnite. But this is more a plus than a minus: there are no empty spaces, the location is well designed, a lot of nooks, installations, everything is arranged intelligently. And for example in the quest houses, if not all, then almost all can be entered differently.

    The city is very atmospheric, each location is like a frame from the horror movies of 80-90 years.

    Performance on Xbox Series X norm: the game goes in 4k and keeps 30 fps, sometimes there are problems with the loading of textures, met a couple of bugs with hanging enemies. There are problems with AI opponents.

    Redfall is not an expensive project of Deathloop, Hi-Fi Rush or Returnal level. Of course, it was a mistake to sell the game for 70$ and position it as a AAA project (by the way, I have the same complaints about Deathloop and Returnal - they are good niche games, but the price tag is obviously overrated).

    I don't really understand the bluster about the game, everything is much better than it's presented. Redfall instead of being another niche game in the subscription got seriously screwed.

    Arcane game fans wanted Dishonored 3, Xbox fans were waiting for another "Sony answer", Sony fans are dancing on Phil's bones making things worse, that's the way it is :D

    The game is available on Game Pass, I recommend you to read it yourself and make your own opinion. As a fan of old horror games, I was hooked by Redfall. The game is interesting, but unfortunately could have been less problematic on release.

    The first playthrough of the game on mah available difficulty took 18 hours, now I will wait for patches and try Redfall on the last difficulty level.    … Expand

    Redfall has now released and after waiting since it was announced. We can finally put a controller in our hands and test it out. Before I get into the review, let's get into the summary on what Redfall is all about.

    Redfall is about a vampire invasion of an island town called Redfall. You get four characters to choose from before starting the actual game.     Redfall is about a vampire invasion of an island town called Redfall. You get four characters to choose from before starting the actual game. Characters that have their own story. The characters talk to each other, which helps you learn about them specifically. What we do know, is that the main characters are like your standard Left 4 Dead and/or Back 4 Blood. Which sounds cool on paper but does it deliver? Let's find out.

    When I start the game, I am met with my character, in this case Jacob. You see two vampires feeding on a person. You can't help the person and are forces rlto watch them eat blood. Yes, you read correctly "eat". They don't look like they are sucking blood. They look like sloppy eaters who don't know how to bite off skins. In another way they are like intelligent zombies. Anyhow, as I lay there watching them, they end up notice me and begin to try and feed on me. Which does not happen, which is an obvious situation that is like a plot device from the Xbox 360 and PS3 Era. When they run, you get to meet the one of the big bads. A vampire lady called the Black Sun. They very same vampire who blocks out the sun in Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Dawnguard fashion.

    Then the gameplay starts; which feels like a Left 4 Dead game, but with vampires. When you start off, you are supposed to head out of the drained harbor and head to the fire station. They you get access to the main quests upon a quest table, which again feels like an Xbox 360 game mechanic.

    As you start exploring and doing the main quests and/or safe house quests. You find the repetitive gameplay loop when you start the main open-world activities. Which as bad as it sounds is not the worse part of the game. It give so much of a Left 4 Dead plot device and gameplay. It clicks with me. Which I admit I am enjoying the game even with the thirty frames per second. The thirty refresh rate is a bummer, but it isn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue is the amount of bugs within the game. From simple bugs and glitches to funny ones that Bethesda studios are known for. However, having to dashboard and reset the game to get quest objectives to work is frustrating. It will test a person's patience. The fun and adventure is good, but everything else hinders the experience to frustrate and disappoint many gamers. Even with all the bugs, which some are far and between since they only happen with co-op. The game has potential and is still fun and interesting if you like Left 4 Dead. However, if you are here for the co-op then you are in for a huge disappointment in Redfall. Co-op is broken, it has been dashboarding me and my friends, when we try to play together. Not only that it is not a seemless multiplayer experience. It acts like Left 4 Dead multiplayer. You have a host and only their progress counts. Yet, it is an easy way to get to level 40, which is the level cap of the game, super easily if you have plenty of friends playing. Even with the disconnect issues and game freezing that happens with co-op play. Most if not all the bugs and glitches occurs when playing co-op. Both game breaking and silly ones. From characters T posing to not being able to pause, crouch, or punch in the game. The characters themselves have their own personalities, but where they shine are their abilities and conversations with each other. Which means while Jacob and Devinder are the better choices to choose from, the best experience are if person has a character picked. One person picks Jacob, one pick Divinder, and so on. Otherwise, you are skipping character story and relationship development. What do I mean by character relationship development? The game supports a TRUST system which means when you play with people who are different characters, you get to have more dialog between the four characters. Which helps get to know each one. Now their abilities play a certain role for the game. With Jacob being the sniper and rogue type. While Devindernis the crowd control character. These two characters are wonderful to play as, because their skills are the most useful. Remi is the support, besides her healing ability, her other abilities are pretty much useless. She gets a robot companion that becomes an annoyance than a helpful tool. It gets in the way and the AI like all the other AI in the game is terrible. Then we have Layla, the psychic who can use her vampire EX Boyfriend to tank and he is decent, but falls flat later in the game.

    Now even with some of these set backs with the actual game, I honestly believe that Redfall does not deserve the overwhelming hate it is currently receiving. Is a game like Redfall perfect? No. However, it can be fun if you can look past the bugs or when co-op is working correctly.    … Expand

    A great premise for a game with a nice hook to set up for some great co-op play. The set-up is let down by subpar visuals and woeful AI on the human cultists. There are still some texture streaming issues in the early parts of the game which should have been picked up in QA.
    These issues break any tension that I was expecting.
    It isn't as bad as a lot of reviews might make out but is    A great premise for a game with a nice hook to set up for some great co-op play.     The game really is as bad and buggy as the memes and videos suggest. I’m rating a 3, as there is some atmosphere and style here, which in a better game I might have enjoyed. But coming straight from Dead Island 2, the drop in quality is remarkable. It's so poor, this may have wider consequences for XBox and Microsoft as a whole. The fact that they pushed this stinker so hard is baffling,The game really is as bad and buggy as the memes and videos suggest.     First off anyone giving this game a 9 or 10 is a Xbox fan boy lying to themselves and you about this game!! This game is really bad. I was shocked how bad it was. This game will need A LOT to even become something decent. No other words can explain how shocked I am that this came out of Arkane studios.

I’m cancelling my GP subscription and they will have to seriously earn back my trust to get me back as a subscriber bc this debacle of a game is unacceptable. How do you release a AAA game in this state after the Cyberpunk fiasco?! I know how I just hope they do.

    The game is quite a lot of fun despite what fanboys say. I'm digging the feeling of isolation early on, it adds to the experience. The gunplay is responsive and fun. I've seen people saying the enemy AI is too dumb, in my experience I've found the AI to be on the high side. I've had countless enemies notice me for well over 100 yards away.     Redfall describes the interests of young gamers today.

    Live Services Co-op multiplayer with no quality that no one cares about in a year because the next game is out.
    Soulless and a disgrace to the art developers show with gaming. I give 4 points here because you can actually turn off your head and have fun. However, I don't recommend it if your expectations of a game are emotionally high.

    Who need enemies when you self-sabotage at every turn.

    Booty and Greenberg can't get sacked quick enough, but because Phil Spender is friends with these 2 incompetent clowns, they will keep their Xbox wrecking jobs.

    No entiendo cómo han podido sacar un juego así después de cosas como Prey o Dishonored. IA malísima,falta de animaciones,gráficos de pasada generación...no tiene ningún sentido,estoy realmente triste porque lo esperaba con muchas ganas.

    Niestety ta gra powinna być w produkcji jeszcze z rok. Latające cienie, doczytujące się przed oczami tekstury, spadające fpsy, ai przeciwników nie istnieje, do tego te nudne questy.
    To jakiś mało śmieszny żart. Ta gra zasługuje niestety na miano gniota roku.

The textures and bland colours with no details, enemy AI seems to of been ported from a megadrive game. 30 fps seems to be the goal and not the actual running rate. Disclaimers on the box stating 60 fps performance mode due at a later date so they dont get sued due to it stating 60 fos on the front of the box art.

    This release has done way more damage than just delaying. Its a gamepads game so there was no benefit to launching unfinished other than to pull the team off this and onto the next project but that has just tainted the name of the development house, microsoft and probably lost subs for gamepass. Above and beyond all of that, they are charging AAA prices for this if you dont get it on gamepass.

    I cant stress enough not to buy this, it will just have them continue to release unfinished and sub standard games. Trust me when I say this game will be abandoned by the development team or at best a couple of people will be left to push out mediocre patches with no content and fixes that will just create more bugs.    … Expand

    The result is a game with no identity of its own. Redfall simultaneously wants to be a looter shooter like Borderlands, in an open world like Fallout's, with action like Dying light and a lengthy multiplayer experience like Destiny. But it fails on all counts. The game environments are bleakly empty, the gameplay is wooden. Like the vampires from the world of Redfall, the game has no soul.

    Sadly, Redfall had unbelievable potential and a dynamic studio behind this that is known for quality gaming, but under delivered at quite literally almost every facet of the game. Redfall, unfortunately, should be avoided, and in fact, I hope that the industry starts taking a look at these games and starts evaluating its processes, because if you're only as good as your last game, then Arkane isn't looking good at all.
