We suspect that Ravenlok will see a fair amount of criticism for its lack of depth and length. Its dimensions are a little limited. But we drink a bottle that says ‘bite me’: Ravenlok is a waltz through Wonderland that you won’t regret. Embrace the lightweight combat and puzzles and follow the path and see where it leads you. The journey is well worth it.

Ravenlok is not for hardcore gamers that want to invest hundreds of hours into their games or who are looking for a challenge. It's a short, sweet, easy game that's perfect for sitting back and relaxing or as a good starter game for kids. It's totally at home on Xbox Game Pass and subscribers shouldn't miss their opportunity to check it out.

Ravenlok may not be particularly challenging or deep in its gameplay or narrative, but it nails the storybook atmosphere and the child-like wonder of exploring a magical world. Clearly aimed at a younger and/or less videogame-familiar audience, this game makes for a brilliant entry point into the hobby and offers a short, polished, albeit simple dive into a fairy-tale come to life.

A beautiful game with an impressive world of wonder, that although it doesn't break the RPG genre to which it belongs and leaves us wanting for more. It is very accessible for younger players that wanted a new adventure.

Ravenlok is a fun and easy title to play, but it suffers from problems such as inconsistent combat and an over-simplicity of puzzles and plot progression. A game definitely suitable for an adult who wants to spend a few hours relaxing on the couch, or for a child taking his first steps in the world of hack and slash games.

A beautiful but rather hollow and one-note trip to a familiar world of wonder and misrule.

Even though Ravenlok does not feature Alice per se, labelling it as a mere inspiration would be absurd considering how Cococucumber’s title brilliantly takes all the codes of this myth and sprinkles them with others. Graphically speaking, the game is superb and takes us on a journey with its well-designed soundtrack. Despite the enemies’ fancy design, the game’s generally low difficulty against them makes it quite boring. It is a shame as it would have been a real treasure otherwise.

Gameplay is either walking around talking to boring cringy npcs or mindlessly button massing. Combat is a fail , xtra skills are pointless, just mash x. More game pass fodder, more wasted money that could go to a game the majority of xbox gamers would actually play. Full Review »
