No matter how you look at it, Persona 5 Tactica is super rewarding and there’s not a thing to moan about. As a bold new direction for the Persona franchise, I have to applaud the bravery.

If you like Persona 5 and all its spinoffs that have come out over the years, it is clear that Tactica should not be missing from your collection, especially if you are an enthusiast of strategy games.

Persona 5 Tactica is a passionate and better work in every light and nuance. Enriched by a detailed game design, defined at its best by many approaches that can be performed as desired, its greatest advantage is being linked to the original title and involving, at the same time, with a particularly successful strategic vision à la X-Com . It's a video game not to be missed, full of many nuances and things to do, as well as enriched by a touching story.

I’m not going to give much away here about the story because it is best to enjoy it as it unfolds. Let’s just say it is camp, surprising, and so much fun! It is clear Persona 5 Tactica was created for both old and new players alike, and I for one am grateful for that. I look forward to seeing what else the Persona series has to offer.

Persona 5 Tactica is a tactics game unlike any other, with really clever combat that requires a lot of thought and that Persona style we all love.

Persona 5 Tactica is a great example of how to do a spin-off game right by balancing familiar components with a new approach. There is plenty to enjoy for new and old fans alike and everything is tied together in a package that is equal parts approachable and fulfilling.

Persona 5 Tactica is a wonderful take on isometric turn-based tactical games like XCOM, that is good enough to satiate Persona fans, and maybe even win over a few XCOM fans at the same time.

Persona 5 Tactica is a fantastic twist on a much-loved franchise. However, the gameplay isn't as challenging as I'd have liked. Yet, the excellent visuals, jazzy audio, and spectacular story are captivating.

The game undoubtedly has higher demands for entry, but if you meet them, you will get a very distinctive and unquestionably fun gaming experience. [Issue#332]

Persona 5 Tactica is a bit deceiving addition to the series and rather an experiment. It's easy to get the impression that Persona loses some of its charm due to the shift to a turn-based strategy, but the series is more taking a step sideways and introspecting. Despite criticisms of the narrative and its pacing, it is more than just an entertaining venture.

Persona 5 Tactica is an enjoyable Strategy RPG spin-off romp despite featuring a relatively run-of-the-mill 'good versus evil' storyline. The tactical gameplay elements are filled with exciting and engaging ideas alongside welcome quality-of-life improvements. If you're a die-hard Persona 5 fan who enjoys strategy games, you absolutely will get a kick out of Tactica. However, those looking for a serious challenge will likely find they breeze through the mostly undemanding combat.

Persona 5 Tactica takes a while to really get going, but once it does, you'll have no choice but to stick around for the ride.

Persona 5 Tactica is another very solid and self-assured spin-off for Atlus' stellar RPG franchise. Placing the Phantom Thieves in tactical turn-based battles works a treat here, with addictive and challenging strategy complimented by a slick sense of style, strong writing and a campaign narrative that will keep fans happy. Whether you're here for Persona specifically or you're just wanting a solid slice of tactical action to dig into, this one has got you well and truly covered.

Persona 5 and its characters definitely work within the strategy genre, but Persona 5 Tactica certainly has some flaws: the overall story and gameplay rhythm is a bit weak when compared to Persona 5 and Persona 5 Strikers. Also, the lack of exploration is something that players will definitely notice. Still, the battle system is amazingly well integrated, and you easily become addicted to it. Moreover, there's the comeback of a certain very charismatic character, and the dialogues as well as the OST are top notch. Overall, fans will be more than happy with Persona 5 Tactica.

Persona 5 Tactica is a game with a chibi style, similar to those of Persona Q, that has a different mechanic and a variable degree of difficulty compared to other games in the series. The game consists of a board where you control the combat with the “pieces” that you prefer, but the outcome will be based on your ability to take advantage of each benefit in the scenario. Although it is not a very difficult game, it has additional challenges that will challenge your skills in the battlefield with more rigorous goals, which will make you look for the best solution for each case.

It won't satisfy everyone, but this twist on the Persona formula offers satisfactory moments and a gameplay that becomes more and more attractive with every mission.

Persona 5 Tactica is a spin-off that delivers without more. It's entertaining and fans of Persona 5 will be happy to spend a few more hours with the Phantom Thieves. Unfortunately, it lacks the impact needed to be one of those side projects that become an arm of the main franchise. Nor does it carry enough weight to become one of the best games of its genre. It is simply an entertaining title and little more.

In the same way that Mario + Rabbids was great for battles on the go using your Switch, so too would be Tactica. While you can certainly pay for the privilege to do just that on your Switch, Persona 5 Tactica is yet another Xbox Game Pass title. That means you can play on the go using Xbox Cloud Gaming and your smartphone of choice without the need to lay down any additional cash. If you’ve somehow got some space that’s not being taken up by a pile of shame, give it a go.

Persona 5 Tactica isn’t something that’s going to blow anyone away, neither Persona fans nor fans of tactical RPGs. Its story is decent and interesting enough to see the players through to the end, but it likely won’t leave much of any lasting impact. The same goes for its overall presentation and music. Much of it is fun to look at and listen to, and there’s genuine enjoyment to be had, but none of it is anything one will remember for long after putting it down. Atlus did manage to craft a fun and interesting combat system here, though, one that’s simple and easy enough for genre newcomers to enjoy and which also offers enough depth to give those familiar with these sorts of games a few fun hours. Persona 5 Tactica is nothing genre defining, but it’s fun enough, especially for those who’d like another chance to spend some more time with the Phantom Thieves.

Persona 5 Tactica is a good game in the genre of tactical role-playing games, but it does not reach the same heights as other similar games.

Just when Tactica’s combat feels like it steps into its own, the game ends. Atlus definitely played it safe by easing players into the basics and gradually giving them more freedom to use all of Tactica’s tools, but the moment where everything clicks and all the systems work together happens a little too late. There's a lot of potential here, though, and I hope this isn't the last time Atlus brings tactics to the shadow world.

Among all the tactics games I've enjoyed in recent years, Persona 5 Tactica stands out as the least interesting. It has the potential to become something more, and the idea behind being able to knock down enemies to get new attacks is a good one. However, there is too little else here. The game quickly becomes repetitive, and the campaigns offer far too little variety.

As a strategy fan, I was disappointed. And I can't recommend it even to hardcore fans of the Persona series.

Ultimately, however, the main attraction of Tactica is its story. Much like Hi-Fi Rush at the beginning of the year, the narrative beats, perhaps inevitably, echo current events: the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, union organization efforts across multiple companies, including Sega of America, and, to an extent, the global protests demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.
