    Fans of classic point & click games have plenty to be excited about in 2022 with the return of Monkey Island in style and an unexpected novelty from studio Obsidian, responsible for hardcore rpgs like Fallout, Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity.
    In Pentiment the player finds an adventure of mystery in the middle of the Catholic medieval Germany. The game does not fall into easy traps of    Fans of classic point & click games have plenty to be excited about in 2022 with the return of Monkey Island in style and an unexpected novelty from studio Obsidian, responsible for hardcore rpgs like Fallout, Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity.
    In Pentiment the player finds an adventure of mystery in the middle of the Catholic medieval Germany. The game does not fall into easy traps of criticizing the church and its script, on the contrary, shows deep knowledge in the matter and it can teach a lot of real theology for those interested. The translation into different languages was done with care, all the liturgical references I found are accurate and the text flows very clearly.

    In the game, you are forced to make several decisions that define your character's behaviour, from a skill tree to choosing which npc to talk to, which can open up different paths through the game.

    All this looks excellent, and the execution of the ideas leaves nothing to be desired, so it's difficult to point out faults with the game. The only problem here is trying to find the player profile that is willing and interested in wading through a lot of text, a lot of Christian imagery, and very little action.

    Despite all the qualities, the too slow pace and total dependence on unfriendly reading makes Pentiment a niche game difficult to recommend for your friend who enjoys competitive games or those with high production value.    … Expand

    Not for me this game, but alot seem to like it, tried to get into it 3 times and I just can’t, far from the worst game you will ever play, theres a lot of reading involved and unfortunately I just don’t find reading fun personally, I no a lot of people who do however, so can fully understand why some people like it,but like I said just not for me unfortunately.

    Obsidian fait aussi dans l’indé foireux, histoire de meubler un peu le Daube Pass avec des daubes ‘fraîches’, vite faites, mal faites qui ne manqueront pas d’attirer le public adulescent à la masse et/ou les ados mongolos à côté de la plaque.

    Les espèces de graphismes en 16 couleurs soi-disant inspirés de l’histoire médiévale ne font pas honneur à cette époque et la vision qu’a ce    Obsidian fait aussi dans l’indé foireux, histoire de meubler un peu le Daube Pass avec des daubes ‘fraîches’, vite faites, mal faites qui ne manqueront pas d’attirer le public adulescent à la masse et/ou les ados mongolos à côté de la plaque.

    L’impression laissée par cette daube en 2D est indéniablement mauvaise et on lève les yeux au plafond d’ennui et d’incrédulité ; tout ce jeu est rempli à la fois d’imbécillités et de prétention, d’humour idiot et d’intellectualisme bobo en solde. Un jeu, non, que dis-je, un non-jeu superfétatoire et dérisoire, une ineptie inutile et du temps perdu. C’est pourquoi nous vous conseillons de vous écarter de cet étron indé et de l’évacuer aussi vite que possible !    … Expand

    Probably not for everyone but I really enjoyed my playthrough. The visuals are outstanding and the dialogues are interesting. The plot is pretty good too.

    I didn't think I would enjoy the game much after trying out the first hour or so, as I didn't understand it at first. But as I gave it more of a chance, I really started to care about the story, about the characters' stories, and about the choices I was making.

    I'm sincerely glad I gave this game a real chance. Pentiment is not a game I'll be forgetting any time soon.

    Boring and nonsensical. It wants to be a Disco Elysium in the Dark Ages but ends up being the worst Professor Layton game you would ever play.

    Con el corazón en la mano, para mi este juego es como un juego de hace 20 años. Es muy absurdoi todo, el sonido de los diálogos, los graficos que son viñetas en cartulinas, un personaje que manejas dentro de un camino sin poder salir de ese camino, un estilo a un parchís, SIEMPRE EN LINEA RECTA .

    If I wanted to read a book- I wouldn't be playing a video game. People actually think this is a GOTY contender? I just don't get it. Opinions will vary but I'm glad I didn't actually have to pay for this game. Thanks Gamepass! Another Gamepass fodder game confirmed.

Игра меня заинтересовала по первым обрывкам информации, посему находясь в доверительных отношениях с продуктами от Obsidian, и в искренней любови к Disco Elysium (фигурирующая, как объект вдохновения), я просто не мог пройти мимо этой игры. Ожидания полностью оправдались, я получил то, что хотел!

    The game was obviously a labour of love from Obsidian. Every conversation shows a huge amount of historical research behind it, and a lot of care in development of the characters over multiple time periods. Each character has their own background and narrative style which is demonstrated through the different "writing" styles used in conversations. The story is deep, well-written, and novel. And finally special mention for the ASMR experience of quill scratching on parchment whenever you speak to someone!

    Only one thing I disliked - throughout the game your investigation seems very free-form and open to the player's own thoughts. By the end you'll understand that this was a bit of an illusion. Can't say more here without spoilers.

    An absolute triumph. Gorgeous historical art, incredibly rich and detailed setting, and a lot of obvious love put into the work. This is a unique game that I am so glad exists. Loved every minute of it and was genuinely moved in addition to sending me down a rabbithole in which I am now a much bigger fan and student of history. Brilliant!

    This game is simply AMAZING! It drags a little in the first hour, but once the story and character develops it becomes extremely addicting and fascinating! Its would have never guessed how deep the story is, and how immersive it gets, putting the player face to face with some situations hardly presented in medieval times games. Showing the commum folk struggle for life, religion conflicts,This game is simply AMAZING!     Pentiment. I do not know. The game gets almost nothing but 10/10, and it's not even a game. At least I didn't get to the gameplay. I've come to the point that it's boring and boils down to clicking through the subtitles. It looks like a western version of danganrompa, which I couldn't handle because of boring and annoying clicking through lines of text. So what if the plot isPentiment. I do not know.     Pentiment shows that in this day and age you do not need to be action packed game. The narrative was written with love and detail to the setting and is another home run from obsidian.

The dialogue and persuasion system is very well done, with simply picking the “nice guy” option not being the best way to handle every interaction.     El Nombre de la Rosa, **** juego, con permiso del juego la Abadia del Crimen. Gran juego, diferente tiene un poco de todo, misterio, historia, personajes, religión,... Juego pausado y muy disfrutable. Menos shooters y más pentiments.

    This is a special game. Rare is it that when the credits roll do tears roll down my cheeks. Such a compelling and adult narrative, dealing with issues which all of us face in our lives. Beyond anything that I could possibly expect this game is my personal number 1 this year.
