Solid baseball game, but I find multiple things about it to be... worse than MLB 21 somehow. It's also starting to go down the same road that every sports video game franchise is taking currently. So few tweaks from last year's game. They're starting to all feel the exact same, but again, this one isn't as good as the last game.

MLB The Show 21 was the first baseball game I’ve ever played and it made me fall in love with the sport which I temporarily played for one season or two when I was 6-7. The game carried my 2021 so I was very excited to see what was in store for 22 and wow the level of disappointment I have for this game is immense. It’s like they copy and pasted 21 but smeared **** all over it. The new commentary seemed good at first after listening to Matty V all 21 which got very old and annoying but somehow the new commentators aren’t any better and don’t fit at all. Hitting is ass backwards most late and early hits are guaranteed singles when you can hit the ball perfectly with a player who has decently good power and it’s like you’re using a wet noodle. Lineouts are very ridiculous in this game and it’s embarrassing off pci very late hits for home runs how does that make any sense? 21 had lineouts but it was much more tolerable this game takes it to a whole new level of wtf am I playing rn. The new pinpoint pitching nerf is ok I guess? Wasn’t really needed that’s really the only thing gameplay wise that’s new and pci anchor with hitting which is basically pointless no one really cares about it. I was playing the game fine for a few weeks then randomly it wants to completely break and now my game is laggy and I can’t even use pinpoint anymore or hit. The PCI lags around and I’m on Xbox series X btw so yeah it’s poorly optimized on a 500 dollar next gen console I never had these issues with 21. I haven’t touched the game in weeks because of this and don’t plan on ever playing it again until there’s a patch for hitting even then idk if I’ll play it again. Very much riddled with bugs and glitches online and offline. I think because 21 performed and sold so well they decided to just not care at all this year and give their fans a pathetic excuse of a baseball game. If anyone actually reads this and you haven’t bought the game please don’t buy it your better off getting 21. Expand

We need to get a new developer for an MLB game. The state of this game is the biggest joke in all of video games. There are countless bugs. And they aren't just annoying. Then the game decides to disconnect from online while you play for 2 hours but NONE of your progress is counted. These aren't quality of life bugs, these are bugs that get you fired. Remove the San Jokeo Stuidos from this title and maybe it will sell more. It's incredible at how bad this game is. I'd prefer to play Triple Play baseball 99 if it were available. Shame on the developers for this absolute joke. It shows that MLB has no clue what they are doing in their business endeavors. Expand

Ironically similar to the state of baseball itself, MLB The Show 22 is boring, safe, and feels old at this point. It is free on Gamepass, which makes it worth a download if you've got the subscription. However, you might want to pass on the game this year if you don't have Gamepass. You're going to find an experience that feels almost identical to that of MLB The Show 21. The gameplay is usual quality, which is solid. All the existing game modes are still there, although they are feeling very stale at this point, specifically Road to the Show, which is starting to feel archaic relative to other career modes found in NBA 2K and even the NHL series in spite of the new two-way player option. Diamond Dynasty is better than other card collecting modes in that it's rather easy to build a great team without spending real world money, but the mode feels so old at this point and nothing has been new in quite some time other than new player licenses. Franchise mode is also practically unchanged from years past save for contract logic refinement. The big new feature is an all-new commentary crew, which has been demanded for some time now. However, the new crew was clearly not given enough to do, as their lines repeat so unbelievably often and the commentary is very surface level compared to what we had before, with very few player names being used and it sounding very choppy when it is the case. While this year's version of the Show plays just as well as any version before, unless you've got Gamepass, this year's game is probably worth skipping, as there's simply nothing truly worth upgrading for. SDS needs to think outside the box next year and develop some new modes and features to keep the game fresh for those who can't upgrade for free on Xbox. Expand

This game is somehow worse then MLB 21
The "new" commentators are horrible and incredibly repetitive, cringe and liveless.
Literally the first match i played in RTTS it feels like i've heard every commentator line already twice in the same match. It also sounds like its from a mobile game and does not belong in a AAA game that you're being charged 70 bucks for. The music in the menus is

The music in the menus is terrible that makes my ears bleed.
The only thing that was sort of an improvement was that they introduced a 2-way player archetype, but even that was done poorly.
I already hated the archetype system and they made it even worse with random passives that don't do anything unless you meet certain criteria in your match.
Random settings that are removed from previous titles that makes the gameplay non enjoyable
Game is also riddled with bugs and glitches
No upgrades for next gen besides fast loading
Terrible weather effects as if its ported from a gameboy
There is literally no reason to get nor play this game
I'm so glad that this game was available in gamepass on Xbox and didn't buy it

This game is very well done, you can find yourself playing it for hours! Somehow, someway... the game has gotten worse. It's still not optimized for XBOX, works poorly on Switch, and the only version to buy is the PS4 version, unless you like to listen to godawful music while playing. Not that I liked DeRosa much, but Singleton is about as dry and boring as they come. No visual improvements whatsoever, and now the game is far too easy. It's time for a MASSIVE facelift. We actually LOST a game in RBI, which was steadily getting far better, to be monopolized with THIS!? Unacceptable Expand

It’s very similar to last year. It’s a good game especially on game pass but paying full price year after year with little to no content update would be disappointing.

This game is exactly the same as the last game. All the lazy developers did in this game is slap the number 22 on this game. They were so lazy, they couldn't even update the roster accurately. Even indie developers can get that basic feature right. That is embarrassing.

The multiplayer is garbage. RTTS is the exact same trash as before. The co-op is broken. I got this game for Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost, but that doesn't excuse the game breaking bugs on this pile of trash. If you don't have Game Pass, then I don't recommend this game at all.
