    Madden NFL 22 can be fun at times but a lot of times it can be annoying or very boring. They added a lot to franchise but Personally I can’t help but be bored still even with those upgrades. Face of the Franchise is okay but not great. Defense doesn’t seem to have awareness as they let the ball fly over their heads no matter what.     This has been a major disappointment. NEXT Gen in the second year is pretty bad for a 70-100 dollar product. Nothing is working so just do what WWE 2k did rebuild this thing and make it right. All Franchise games are way ahead of their debacle

    The improvements to immersiveness such as the momentum system and crowd atmosphere are somewhat refreshing, but only a small patch over a huge problem. The gameplay is broken and overall horrible with complete animation reliability and complete cpu unawareness. Franchise mode has been improved and that is a positive, but it still very bleak.     Honestly not gonna waste my time listing all the issues. Gameplay sucks, it’s really embarrassing how broken some of this stuff is, repetitive animations. Franchise new features are just reskins of old features, the whole coaching tree is basically coach xp that’s always been there.     While I can certainly acknowledge the many improvements to franchise mode as being pretty great and the new momentum meter being a fun addition to the game, Madden 22 (like Madden 18-21 before it) is still a broken mess of a game. First off, the gameplay is STILL extremely broken and far too animation-driven with no physics present (or at least significant animation variety) whatsoever,While I can certainly acknowledge the many improvements to franchise mode as being pretty great and the new momentum meter being a fun addition to the game, Madden 22 (like Madden 18-21 before it) is still a broken mess of a game. First off, the gameplay is STILL extremely broken and far too animation-driven with no physics present (or at least significant animation variety) whatsoever, unlike in other sports titles. Face of the Franchise is STILL a terrible excuse for a superstar mode and is comically bad. The presentation and commentary is STILL boring as hell and it's about time we got a licensed presentation/commentary crew, even something similar to what we had in Madden 13-16 with Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, and a CBS-esque presentation style which looked great. Visuals from the Series S/X don't really get much of an upgrade over the Xbox One, again, unlike other sports titles. Finally, even with the long-needed new additions, franchise mode is still very much lacking things found in every other major US sports title (namely a team/stadium creation suite, compensatory picks, accurate contracts, and restricted free agency to name a few). Madden 22 is definitely an improvement over Maddens 18-21, but it's still not nearly enough. EA Sports needs to fix Madden's awful inauthentic gameplay first and foremost by making physics relevant or at least adding many many more animations, build a basic customization/relocation suite, and dramatically overhaul both Face of the Franchise and its presentation to even hold a candle to other sports games. It's still the worst of the bunch.… Expand

I’ll admit gameplay is making strides to being good again, but this game is still riddled with predetermined animations that have nothing to do with skill. X factors are back and as cheesy as always. Face of the franchise is so boring I put it down after 3 hours. NBA 2K makes this game look like a joke despite their flaws.     Honest review time! Next Gen, huh? So as a Madden player since the very beginning, Madden 22 is better than Madden 98! Its also better than Madden 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 which the majority of new player only remember. The graphics are what you should expect from a modern system, i like the momentum meter and the game day atmosphere. Now the bad, defensive logic is terrible, the bugsHonest review time! Now the bad, defensive logic is terrible, the bugs are awful, the game consistently freezes, the controls to the game are laggy meaning you hit "x" the game does not register it right away, the scenarios are horrible, i had a player want to retire because my undefeated teams wasnt winning, the logic is terrible, had the Lions draft a QB even though the QB they drafted the previous year won OROTY and the skill tree i didnt update simmed through the season and still won the super bowl! Showing it actually means NOTHING! Over all I do think this game is an improvement over the last five years, however the last five years were horrible games too. This game is trash, bottom line! its just a more polished turn than in the last few years. As a Madden game it is definitely not nearly as good as any Madden made from 2008-2012 which were like the golden years of the game.… Expand

    Bought the newest Madden (22) because of the promise of an updated Franchise experience, Franchise is why I play. But the game play is so crappy and unrealistic that it just ruins the game. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but I won’t ever buy another Madden game. As an example, I was playing the Jaguars and up by 21 points when all of a sudden their passing offense becomes UNSTOPPABLE.Bought the newest Madden (22) because of the promise of an updated Franchise experience, Franchise is why I play. Three straight drives they shred my defense, including one play where a small rookie receiver runs over a stacked MLB and a CB for a TD. Almost no incompletions. Meanwhile, my top 3 WRs suddenly can’t hang on to a single pass that comes their way. It happens in every version of the game for the past few years, but this is just blatantly ridiculous and I am done dealing with it. The game is no longer fun because of this, and the music gets worse every year. The music might even be worse than the gameplay, which is really saying something…..and I haven’t even gotten into the glitches….this game is straight up garbage.… Expand

    Graphics are good but that’s it, everything else about the game is bad. When you throw the to your wide receiver, they doesn’t go for the ball at all. But the defender just automatically goes for it… it should be the other way around. Game is awful.

    I have already returned my digital copy back to Xbox. I attempted to play this game over 3-days, only to have the game crash after 30-45 minutes of playing each time. I have no idea if this game is better than 21, because I wasn’t able to play it fully. What I did see in the few attempted hours of play was SHAMEFUL - a litany of bugs, graphic issues, & lag.     From what I saw in the game menus, not much has changed from last year. It looks like another year of putting lipstick on a pig & releasing the same thing. One constant though in franchise - why is there no custom face to create for coaches or owners? It’s still an empty, faceless avatar for any created owner or coach (& probably the same bald, fat white guy character that steps in when a coach is fired / not replaced yet). Simply take that stupid ‘yard’ character that you make at the beginning & allow that face / character to be used… but no, that would be TOO EASY & NBA2k already does that, so god forbid EA/Madden take any notes from other successful game franchises.

    Maybe EA beefed up franchise mode, maybe they didn’t - I’m not able to play this damn thing to find out. So I’ve decided I won’t be playing… ever… & I’ve been dedicated since Madden 96… I am so disappointed & pissed off, what a disgraceful sham of a game!    … Expand

    Trash , not realistic , players still go through other players , every pass is a TD(zone) , every hit stick is a fumble , no money spent MUT is trash this year (so far) , can only pick 2 plays all the rest are garbage, game crashes periodically

    The game seems to have alot of potential! I have played madden since the Sega era. I dont understand how you can take features away and never build on top of them. The release of this game was broken. Defense can not defend commentary on FOTF did not make sense. Online head to head is horrible players do not appear sometimes.     On my first drive I was receiving a kick off. The other team was never placed on the field and the ball stayed on the tee. My team sprinted to the ball on the tee and it gave possession to the opposite team (who wasn’t on the field). I’ve been an active madden online franchise player for 4 years. I refused to buy this game it is so buggy and bad. EA needs to either pay the money to get aOn my first drive I was receiving a kick off. Game is exactly the same as 21, 20, 19, etc. There are some new upgrades to franchise but other than that, still a micro-transaction based game for them to make more money off of MUT. Do not buy if you have 21 already as nothing has changed really. Announcers still sound like a Nickelodeon broadcast, repetitive animations and only the smallest of upgrades to the frostbite gameplay software (if you can even call it an upgrade) left me wondering if I’ll ever buy a madden game again.… Expand

    I've been a huge fan of both Madden and the game of football for as long as I can remember. I first started playing when I was just 7 years old playing Madden 09, and I was amazed by all the features you could check out, from creating your own superstar and participating in combine drills, to creating your own team and designing your own stadium peice by peice to turn an expansionI've been a huge fan of both Madden and the game of football for as long as I can remember. I first started playing when I was just 7 years old playing Madden 09, and I was amazed by all the features you could check out, from creating your own superstar and participating in combine drills, to creating your own team and designing your own stadium peice by peice to turn an expansion franchise into a dynasty. I continued to play the Madden games as I got older, naively ignoring the features they continued to remove as time went on. Sadly, this might be the last Madden game I buy for a long time after buying them all year after year. EA's promises that they made to both consumer and critic have simply fallen short. Every single year EA takes away feature after feature that was once loved by the community, giving excuses such as the game doesn't have enough storage, etc. This year they finally get a next generation console which should open so many doors for them to add many new and enjoyable features into the game, and what do they do? Nearly the absolute opposite. The game has become nothing more than a gigantic cash grab. They let you "grind" for good players and cosmetics in their two moneymakers The Yard and Madden Ultimate Team (both of which have become completely stale and stagnant as well), but the amount of time it takes you to unlock anything of worth is a complete waste of time which should honestly be spent playing a more complete game. The game essentially forces you to pay money if you want to get anywhere in ultimate team, and the cosmetics which you have to pay for in the yard give absolutely no advantage other than looking cool. The Face of the Franchise mode was honestly somewhat enjoyable the first time I played through, albeit it was very unrealistic, it was fun nonetheless. Sadly,, the game mode has absolutely no replayability, as no matter what the beginning story wl stay the exact same. I could forgive nearly all of this, however, if they simply followed through on their promises to bring a needed overhaul to their franchise mode. Over the summer, EA Sports promised that they would make a wide variety of changes and additions to their franchise mode, citing complaints from their fans from the backlash of the staleness of Madden 21's franchise mode. EA promised additions such as Assistant coaching trees and enhanced scouting features for their upcoming Madden 22 title. Only one of these features were actually added at launch, Sadly, as EA somehow couldn't implement their new scouting system in time for the August release. To make matters worse, this so-called "overhaul" of franchise mode completely destroyed the games code for some reason. The game has become more plagued with bugs and glitches than it ever has before. Opposing teams simply fail to show up for games; leaving teams to play against air for 60 minutes, sometimes when two players try to play head to head the game simply doesn't even load, leaving both players to stare at a camera panning view of the stadium for 5 minutes before crashing, and sometimes neither tram shows up for games. I even experienced one "glitch" where I tried loading the game and it crashed my xbox, forcing me to reset my display settings and perform a full restart on my console. No game has ever done this to me before, and I suspect no game after this will do such a thing either. And to top it all off, the game does not even play like real football plays in real life. The game is way too animation dependent, players move so strangely that you'd think they were in a tap dancing group, and the computer players have absolutely no football logic whatsoever. Even high school football players have higher football IQ than the computers in this game do on all Madden skill level. They don't know how to carry a zone on defense, they can't figure out a proper pursuit angle on a runner, the offensive line can't form a proper pocket for the quarterback half the time, and the secondary can't figure out how to pick up a man when he crosses into their zone. The only reason I gave this game a 1 is because they simply tried to implement changes and improvements into the game, but it screwed everything up so badly that it almost makes them all for naught. The decline of the Madden franchise is definitely a sad one, but when you have a game company that simply doesn't care like EA does, the writing was on the wall for this one.… Expand

    When somebody can pick it up and play an older version of the game and not notcie because the core gameplay and glitches don't change from year to year... that IS a problem. especially when you consider the pre-release hype given talked about how much it changed from year 1 to year 2 on the Series S | X and PS5.

    I will never understand why the NFL continues to push exclusivity on their games. So many weird animations and glitches galore. I don't see why the people who continue pumping money out for microtransactions in the game don't complain more about the issues. Outside of ultimate team's money grubbing, the 'new' features are okay. That's it... okay, not amazing or great. Maybe because NCAA already nailed the home team experience over ten years ago, EA should have evolved the Madden game more with the demise of NCAA. I keep a 360 around just to play ncaa 14 which is now 8 years old and still less glitchy (but yes, it has its own issues) and more fun than a current gen madden.

    Unfortunately, as it is said year after year, nothinbg with Madden will ever change. People continue to buy the game, continue to pump money in to the ultimate team, and EA has no reason to push for a better game because, well, why should they? There is no competition.

    I don't give games a zero or this would probably have that score. I figured if the game was able to release it deserves at least a 1. I am starting to reconsider this belief after playing a game with nothing new to truly show for itself.    … Expand

    It's September 23 and they haven't released the proper game for franchise players, still waiting for the scouting update that will require a franchise restart. If you don't play MUT, they don't care. They either need a bigger team or a alternating dev group so each team has longer to work on the game like call of duty does. Still buggy as he'll too.

    FU to EA, and GTFO all you 'sports gamers' throwing money down the pan on MUT that are the reason why EA puts so little effort into their sports games.

    Madden 22 is the next year’s instalment on the franchise and I feel it’s gone back a step. Yes, it looks graphically better, but otherwise it’s really not that much different to previous instalments. The career mode is a roll-forward from previous years, as are the achievements. EA could do so much more with the Madden franchise and it’s a shame they haven’t executed it as well as I’d hope.

    For those who have not played Madden NFL for a few years, the new episode may be the right opportunity to start over. The Franchise mode has been rearranged and the direction taken seems to be the right one, while the gameplay, waiting for the adjustments in the secondary, is appreciated for a renewed physics in the inertia of the players' movements and for an AI that in more than one opportunity surprised us positively. The magic of the new generation has been little seen for now: Madden NFL 22 is still a good game to watch even if it was legitimate to expect something more. In general, our advice is to wait for EA Tiburon to fix bugs and glitches: time is up and the season has just started.
